I got off of Facebook due to my insecurity and jealousy arising due to guys liking girls that are but naked and I knew that I didn’t wanna be those type of girls so my way of solving the solution was getting off of Facebook and then after getting off of Facebook, I was more of an Instagram person, and I rarely see naked people on Instagram if they’re like at the beach but other than that no way so I was good. I was happy. I felt better now here I am on Instagram. I was going back down at spiral I took a short break for about a week and I came back. I felt refresh so I decided to do, one day as social media for about 20 minutes and get off, but that didn’t last too much longer. I got a couple of days now on it pretty much every day now, but I do want to take a break and see what more could happen if I take a month or two off, and if I find it lovely, even though I’m gen z maybe I will find some sort of detachment by me you know taking a break and realize and come into real life that I don’t really need this that this is toxic and if that then I would pretty much get off of Instagram, but I love posting, of course my generationbut I’m on Pinterest. I can create some cute little things and post and I love the fact that Pinterest lets you customize what you see.
Deleted insta and FB and just have pintetest and youtube. Quality time with my daughter... cleaning, reading, self development and sometimes a nap lol. I have become annoyingly hyper aware of others phone use to the point it really bothers me so trying to deal with that and know I can only control myself and be present
I quit Twitter in 2013ish I quit Facebook in 2017ish I quit LinkedIn in 2022ish I'm quitting Instagram in 2024. I don't use any of the others. I may consider RUclips. Idk why it feels different. It just does.
I deactivated my social media recently. My brain was foggy, I especially didn’t realize how depressed I was, and now a couple weeks, it feels so free. Being addicted to shopping as well, I became more aware of how I’m spending my money, I got addicted to reading ACTUAL books, focusing on graphic design and writing. Every day has gotten more enjoyable. ❤
I deleted my Facebook two months ago and I just deleted my Instagram for the tenth time, yesterday. I’m just tired of posting for others who I barely talk to. I had to realize that people on Instagram aren’t my friends.
I deleted my social media 2 months a go, and I realized I should've done it earlier. Social media was wasting my time and gave me anxiety. Then I began to hit the gym without my phone, and do anything like travel and studied tons of new things without my phone. So good!
I been saying this for years, I removed social media, built my own website, I removed my TV and all my services subscriptions, I listen to music on vinyl and journal a lot, read books and study and write, in the process of writing a self help book and workshops, I use a Polaroid camera to take pictures, I send post cards to people friends and family, I use a dump flip phone, but use a iPad Pro and MacBook Air for my business and general life. I trail walk with a pack ride a motorcycle and exercise regularly. I listen mainly to music on RUclips and set a time limit. If I buy an item I need to use it.
The thing is if people would be allowed to use it only 2 hours a day, the content would be much better quality, more engaging, less spaming. Less spaming in videos, less desiformation and less spaming in comments.
It’s been over 2 years since I left social media. I have no regrets at all. I used it in my early teens as I thought it was good to unite with people who I’ve met during school and college, and I thought it was going to bring people together. but after a while in my late teens, there was a lot of things that I realised that we’re not good and was having an really negative impact on me. I got sick & tired of people gossiping, causing drama, negativity & people faking their lives & friendships and sharing everything that should be kept private or craving attention with provocative pictures, posts & selfies. A number of things I realised: 1. People who added me as “Friends” didn’t really care about me. They were “So called Friends” it was just to increase their friends list. 2. When people were going through their hardest times of anxiety, trauma and upset, I went out of my way & made an effort by helping & supporting them. But when I was going through my hardest times, including anxiety, trauma and stress. The people who I helped & supported never reached out to me to help or supported me even when I struggled. Everything has become one sided. 3. Certain posts or videos get blown out of proportion or completely taken out of context even if it’s nothing negative. 4. People lie about the amount of friends they REALLY have. Who in the REAL world has 100s or 1000s of friends WHO?? 5. Communication is very one sided. The same person had to make the first move to start a conversation as the other person doesn’t make an effort themselves or just can’t be bothered. 6. People lie about their lives, they only show the positive side of theirs lives which doesn’t show the REAL truth about the person. You can’t tell and don’t see if someone is REALLY depressed, upset, isolated, lonely, feeling suicidal or what’s actually going on in their actual lives. Even if people post it on social media on how they REALLY feel, people don’t always care or not interested. 7. It makes people fake and insecure. It’s not just school kids or teenagers in schools, colleges, universities or workplaces doing it, but grown adults as well are also being fake & insecure, especially managers. 8. People compare themselves to others just to get loads of “Likes” & comments. 9. Social media has increased loneliness, isolation, anxiety and depression which can be severe, and sometimes suicides 10. Due to social media and the increase in technology, it’s causing destruction & destroying peoples lives in the sense of their is no sense of unity, community, love and nobody wants to help each other. If they see someone doing something constructive and productive and they’re doing well in a community or society, people will laugh at them in an act of ignorance, and cannot wait for them to fall down. Social media is dividing people, not bringing people together. 11. Having a proper conversation or being real is considered not normal and people think it’s creepy. People don’t like having real conversations. 12. It’s made people to be narcissists, entitlement, ignorant, prejudice and bullies. 13. People can say things or make comments that are abusive, racist, sexist, ignorant, prejudice, misogynist, homophobia, xenophobia, discrimination openly online, rather than to your face. 14. I have seen Boys & Girls take provocative, selfies / pictures just to get attention from so called friends / strangers, sometimes in a negative way, for example, woman having their boobs / chests hanging out, body image, men & women showing off muscles, six pack & more. Why would you do that to 100s or 1000s on your friends list that you don’t really know. Even if you post it in public. 15. Businesses and companies like theatres, special effects companies and more are now doing this as well, they will sometimes arrogantly post positive images of the work they do. And sometimes they will post things that they think they do, but they don’t, for example, some companies say that they support mental health and care for peoples mental well-being. Or they support women in work, claiming to be Disability confident. People have to REALLY question why they would put that on there social media post. As it could be because they are not doing it and that’s their way of saying that they are doing it, but in REALITY they are not or don’t REALLY care. In businesses and with companies people have to ask themselves are they presenting? or are they advertising? 16. With social media & the young generation with regards to friendships, people feel that if they add someone as friend request and they accept it, or meet someone & they click with them straightaway they automatically think that’s “friends for life” people need to realise that’s not how friendship REALLY works. Friendships are & should always be a 2-way street. Real friendships would make the effort to support & be there for each other through the good times, fun times but also through hard times, sad times, upsetting times (even if your friend was in hospital going through surgery or operation) & more. Communication & making an effort should be equal on both sides. Not the same person who always makes first contact. The other person should also make an effort too. We need to ALL learn the skill set of when we suffer from stress, anxiety, trauma, facing problems & more, that we should reach out to our friends, family or professionals for help & support, NOT turn to social media, drugs or Alcohol. 17. Our young generation has grown up addicted. They have been addicted to mobile phones, alcohol, drugs, social media & more at a young age It’s very sad. We are seeing the negative impact of what social media is doing, but we are not really reacting to it. I never had TikTok, Twitter or Instagram. Glad I didn’t sign up to any of them. Facebook was the only social media platform I had and it was recommended to me back when I was in my teens. I only use RUclips as I can look at interesting things like cooking recipes and motivation videos and music videos of festivals & concerts and more fun stuff. I enjoy going out in nature walks, bowling listening to music and learning new hobbies and watching movies. Since leaving it’s been the best decision of my life. I enjoy life more, I can now enjoy doing the things I do or want to try without being judged or told what to do without being made to feel guilty. I feel more happier and a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I think if social media disappeared forever, I can guarantee people will spend REAL quality time with friends and family. People will know who their REAL friends are and that they will do things together and have a good time doing it. I also feel that people will have proper conversations and listen and engage. I do feel sorry for our young generation. The young generation is lost. There is so much talent and ideas in young people and they need to show that in a positive & constructive way. We can make change for the future. The young generation needs real positive role models to look up to, for them to succeed in life & beyond.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. You’ve made some really great points and I agree it’s extremely disheartening to see the negative effects of social media. I relate to being able to enjoy life more fully now that I’m off Instagram and Tik Tok, and most especially the weight that has been lifted since leaving the apps!
Would argue most men post muscles to show off their achievement that they worked for, can't compare it to boobs unless they worked hard to pay for a boob job :D
as a 17 year old , i deleted social media ( besides youtube and pinterest ) for alot of these reasons too! it just kinda consumed me . ive been using social media for years but i think december was my breaking point . i honestly feel like a weight on my brain has been lifted. the only downfall for me is that i cant keep in contact with alot of other people i do care about but thats it .
I deleted my socials and fell in love with journaling again. When i was younger i used to journal and stopped and now i know why i enjoyed so much back then. To reflect and express my deepest thoughts and feelings on a nonjudgmental way on a piece of paper.
thank you for this comment! i wanted to quit a long time ago, then was forced to quit cuz meta suspended my acct. i'm just on social media cuz i need a creative outlet for my photos... gosh how could i forget about journaling! this is my lightbulb moment and now I'm excited to go back!
I love this so much! Especially because I recently logged out of all of my social media accounts a week ago. I am much in control of my time, and more present with my husband and my dog. I am focusing on educating myself more instead of just doom scrolling. I do not like how social media makes you think you need “more” when you have everything in front of you. Comparison is always gonna be there. I agree with your statement towards the end of the video, “my life as it is enough” ☺️ We all just need to have that sense of ‘enough’.
For me, it's not just Instagram. It's the fact that I spend so much time on my phone, I am not looking at the sky and my surroundings anymore. I can feel how disconnected I am from reality. My head is heavy and my entire body feels overwhelmed because there's too much noice and unnecessary never ending consumption. My mind feels sooo unstimulated when I managed to pull myself away from my phone, I feel like I am breathing and alive again.
I deleted TikTok a few days ago and Instagram and Facebook today. No more scrolling and ignore my favourite hobbys 😭🖤 I was often so depressed because of all this scrolling and looking at the videos/pictures (with texts) which fit my mood... That was always so dangerous. Today I were outside for a walk and I didn't touched my phone once. I am free now and want to love my new life.
I've had literally enough. I met so insanely rude people on social media that a kindergarten throwing a fit over some nonsense is nothing. I'm considering quiting.
Thanks for sharing that app! I used to love Instagram when it was only still photos. I found it very calming & inspiring. Now, influencers pitching products have taken over the app along with reels. Ugh! I have gone long lengths of time inactive on fb but I’ve joined a few fb groups I do enjoy a bit. I mostly was on fb to follow family but I’ve really noticed that very few of my peers (I’m in my 50’s) are sharing anything personal & authentic any more. So I’m thrilled I turned to RUclips a couple years ago. I agree, I find long form content much more thoughtful & insightful. Glad I found your channel!!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. It’s true, if we really take a good look at the content we consume on these apps (like FB as you mentioned) it’s amazing how much extra there is that we don’t really care to see! Welcome to our community 🤗 happy to have you here.
I resonated with everything you said. I deleted every social media account in April and I'm going through the phase of using RUclips a little too much, so I think I may need to delete that from my phone for now. I just didn't say anything to anyone when I got off, and no one has seemed to notice I was no longer there. The longer I'm off of social media, the more I realize how odd it is that everyone wants everyone else to know how "great" their life is. It feels good to be living my life for me and to be able to give all my attention and energy to my family. My husband took me on a surprise weekend getaway last month, and instead of posting, I had them printed and added them to an old-school photo album. It was so much fun! Highly recommend.
Hi Carrie! I’m so happy for you 🥹 the same thing happened in nobody in my real life noticed I was off social media until I told them - really cleared some things up for me. And YES to living our lives for US - not for likes and attention!!!
Great job. 👍 1:13-2:03. I personally believe a person should be "present", being on social media isn't "being present." A phone will always be there. People die. I love what you say about creativity. People will have more problem stealing your ideas/intellectual property if the information isn't readily available. Plus, no cyberbullying/grooming/harassment, etc. Existing is less drama. I'm so proud of you. Keep it up. 💯 Ive been free for only 2.5 months so far (January 2024). I made some mistakes going back on some platforms, since January 2023. You are 100% right about the addiction. Anyone can do it. They just have to want to.
Ironically, it was tiktok that lead me to the decision to quit/detox from Social media. I came across a video of a lady who was doing a social media detox after reading Dopamine Nation. So, I ordered the audible version, listened over Easter weekend and committed to no social media for 90 days. Today is day 7. Day 4 I was crawling in my skin, which surprised me. As I watched your video today, I’ve noticed that A) I watched the entire video without feeling distracted. B) I felt it was helpful and I wanted to engage and share my thoughts and say thank you for sharing your experience. I look forward to each day and how it will transform because of this one simple choice I made, and kept.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I haven’t heard of that book but I’m adding it to my reading list now. Glad to hear you’re reaping the benefits of the detox 🙌🏽 cheers!
The impulsive shopping is one of the lesser known and under appreciated aspects of our time on social media. And not just shopping but seeing food and all kinds of things that come into our awareness that we now suddenly crave.
It’s funny because when you said you noticed you started using RUclips a lot more, I remembered that that’s also how I am. I deleted my most used social media app and immediately RUclips shorts and entertainment videos on RUclips started taking my attention. Thank you for this video. It brought back my awareness 😅
You can do it!!!! I check mine twice a week only because I still owe for the phone. You wouldn’t believe the things I’ve accomplished. You wouldn’t believe businesses like doctor, banks etc. in your life that is controlling through the internet. My doctor said I have use my laptop because that’s the way it is. Strange behavior, so I said no it’s my information. Never went back. There’s a lot that we don’t know what they are doing with our information and although you can’t control what they have taken you don’t have give it anymore. Take back you life. God bless be safe. Internet is a tool and not for our benefit.
Social media is just a toxic place. I never really liked instagram or any other social media platform. It’s just a place to compare yourself and it gives low self esteem. I lost so many people because of it. People just like go stalk people on their socials. It’s simply annoying and a waste of time.
This is my day 6 without social media and already experiencing what you say about realizing how much I took my phone out of my pocket just because. The only thing I miss is Facebook marketplace lol. I know RUclips is also a social media, but as you said, I also feel like it has a positive impact in my life. Usually use it to learn new things, it has helped me a lot in the trip of self improvement to be able to hear other people's experiences. I wish there was way for the app not to show shorts on the home page, though.
Same here. I quit social media (FB and Instagram) yrs ago. I then had TikTok which was not a good idea, spending wayyy too much time on this app. Then there was a video which made me delete this app as well. Cannot stand TikTok. I only have RUclips but this is my safe space platform, more personal for me!
I'm starting today. I've deactived all 11 of them. I need a break. I'm glad I came across your video. Time to reflect and re-evaluate where I put my precious time into. Thanks for sharing how it was for you, I'm looking forward to the good things it'll bring to me as well.
I deleted ny Facebook around four months ago. A few people tried convincing me to keep it for marketplace. I can sell cars and parts in Craigslist. The time saved by not having Facebook has been great for reading, gardening, and spending time in person with family and friends.
Day 2 without facebook, insta, tiktok and I was surprise I have lots of house chores I have done. And I am more focus on my studies. There are times J wanted to go back but I try and try myself to distract some things to do to not think of installing fb again. Feels so gokd without social media.
Love this! I felt God calling me to take a break from Instagram specifically, probably because it’s the one I just aimlessly scroll on the most. I deactivated it for now, it’s a nice break. It’s hard to feel like we are ever doing enough while watching everyone’s highlight reels on a daily basis. 💞
I deleted my Instagram, it’s actually is in the process of deleting, Instagram tells me that I still have time to keep it until April 9 but I’m definitely gonna leave it so it’s deleted and I really don’t feel like going back to it
I only have tiktok now. I don’t see RUclips nor Pinterest as a social media. Everything else I either deleted or never had. It’s amazing to delete social media because it’s so much peace.
I never had TikTok and I deleted Instagram 2 Year ago I have RUclips for meditation and learning languages And messenger to talk with my family they live in an other country I replaced all that with books and appreciate my simple life Instagram makes me sad and I was in a comparison with other people and hating my life But now I feel free
I loved this because I've realized that social media wasted my time. Instead, I'd rather read books, watch movies, exercise and hang out with my friends on my free time.
I never had Instagram or tiktok. But sadly do have Facebook again. I was of Facebook for 2 years, best time ever. The only reason I returned, was to connect with my old school mates. Thinking of going of Facebook again , due to censorship, idiotic ads and fake information 🤔
I deleted my social 2 years ago only use messenger from FB as now you don't have to have access to FB to have Messenger so that's briliant as I live in UK but all my family is in Poland so I don't have a choice unfortunately 😑 Only use YT for podcast or my fav yt creator's. My life changed so much that I'm more peaceful. Don't need attention from strangers to like my photos is so stupid for me I never understand idea of Instagram. I highly recommend trying if you spend more than 6h on socials ❤
Hey I have a question just need other people point of view Till now I didn't have any social media account except yt What'sapp etc for use So my question till now I didn't felt need of it but recently I feel like I am not connected to people and feel the urge to see whats happening around with them on maybe insta, like I don't gonna meet them frequently and I feel guilty no using Insta I feel if I use it I will somehow connected to them? What you think about it or it is just my overthinking
And also I like to take pictures of me and family and feel like to post it recently but at the same time I feel why do I need to do it, is it because I see others doing it
@@SR-pw8no me personally I share with people some of my pictures if I feel like it but is only on messenger I don't need to proof no one nothing and I don't want to Share my personal life moments to expect some stupid comments or likes from someone I don't even know but this is my opinion.
@@SR-pw8no me personally I don't like to share my personal life with strangers I don't need attention and trust me you don't missing nothing for me a lot of this is false anyway sharing pictures on ig is just waisting time i share only moments with my family and close friends like i always say if you don't have my number you are not my friend so i don't need to show of or share my life with strangers my life is so much better without attention of people I don't know. But this is my opinion only.
@SR-pw8no I don't think you missed something. I only share my life with my close circle I don't need attention from strangers but this is my opinion only.
RUclips people share how they achieved things meanwhile instagram users are showing off how rich and happy they’re. Which also not always true. So definitely RUclips is the best platform to use .
I deactivated my personal FB account in mid-September. We moved to a new area in June, and I use fb to buy plants and meet new people and learn about activities and market my business. It's really helpful, but then I get tired of being on there. I stay in a few group with my business account and only access it from my laptop. I stopped posting to IG a little later. About once a month, I'll go in and check all the messages from my family and friends of just funny or interesting reels. So instead of being on it each day throughout the day, I'm probably on there for an hour a month. I started my RUclips channel right away, posting the first video on October 10...so less than a month after I quit fb! I also started doing more puzzles. It's great to just sit and think my own thoughts while bringing some chaos to order with some lovely pictures. Man, I just love all of your content! Thank you for all you share!
Thanks for sharing your experience with us! ☺️ Using Facebook only on your laptop seems like a great way to reduce time spent on it. I’m trying to do the same, but I find I haven’t even had an urge to go on it because I only really use the platform for marketplace. I used to scroll the marketplace on my phone just for fun - and now I realize how much time I wasted creating a desire for things I didn’t need! So grateful to be able to connect with you on here💓
I’m trying to do this, TikTok is so addicting n I’m having hard time with it. I also feel like I I compare myself to others when it comes to social media
What's funny about all this is that as soon as I reduced my use of social media and started to stop for good, other habits also disappeared, like smoking weed, drinking too much coffee, among others, it seems like the 80-20 Pareto rule to me.
Exactly! I was just thinking that maybe it's social media and apps that are the gateway drug that's behind the drug crisis going on in America. Your body responds to social media and apps as if it is a drug.
reading this on a set break at the gym. everyone here at the gym is on their phone between sets. nobody is speaking to one another unless they are known to one another outside the gym. it's bizarre how social and how unsocial this place is.
I did the same and had "friends" who stop getting pictures with me because they couldn't tag me in them online and "there was no point" on taking them... This was shocking to me
I'm actually thinking about deleting Instagram for two reasons. One, it does nothing for my blog. I have tried everything and even linked it to my FB blog page. I only get a few likes and I have tried paying for advertising and it only brought me fake accounts. The second reason is because I do scroll aimlessly at times out of boredom. I have taken breaks from social media but, I feel as though my blog account is useless on Instagram. I have another account for my small business and I don't scroll it as much. I will keep it but, my original account is what I would like to get rid of. Funny thing for me is I don't scroll TikTok but it actually does better for my RUclips and Blog. I think I will take that leap and delete my original account.
When I do delete all my social media accounts, I’ve got plenty to do people to go see people on old folks homes that never get a visit like I said there’s plenty to do. I will never miss it.
I've deleted Twitter about a month and a halfish ago (it was kind of a natural process, I started finding Twitter so boring lol thank god) and tiktok I deleted my account like 2ish weeks ago. It was so time consuming and I was ADDICTED to everything about tiktok.
As a Dj i deleted for second time the fb profile but i kept the messenger. Also i deleted the instagram and i will use my youtube channel for uploading videos and i wll have the gmail and viber for communicate. Lets do it!!
I have too many social media apps what im using. Twitch, youtube, tiktok, instagram, twitter and facebook. I just ordered new stream pc so after that im thinking to leave facebook, tiktok and twitter. My goal is just keep twitch, youtube and instagram. Twitch when im streaming, youtube for watching videos (maybe some content) and spending time here while im eating. Instagram only when i try to promo my twitch channel or just when i posting some photos/clips. So i dont need tiktok because instagram gives me same things to do. Snapchat i deleted five years ago. Scrolling feeds like 2-3h per a day is the biggest problem what i have to wasting my time and looking for other people profiles everyday.
i have tried facebook 7 times, and it's frustrating me. everyone is out for themselves, and i may get rid of it again. i never joined instagram or tik tok. I was just on tik tok, and couldn't figure out how to make videos stop auto playing/starting. It was loud and silly. I yelled at the screen. I don't think i'll ever join tik tok. It's okay, it's just not a fit for me. Great video.
I couldn't ever do youtube on the phone...why? No adblocker. that's an automatic nope for me. Not watching it on phone because no ads...also shorts are awful
I am for this! But, why do most people feel that You Tube is not social. 😅If you are on YT isnt that social media too? It definitetly feels different. I am not being a smarty. I really want to know how people feel about this. 😊
Hi, i have a question, is it a trend to delete social media this year ? I also delete all my social media several years ago, I use until my ig for my business & my clients
i feel like youtube more of like a broadcasting media ?! ,, like not everyone has a youtube channel and uploads videos, unlike the other social media platforms where everyone who has an account uploads there
It’s much more of a “work” platform for me. At the start of my journey I was watching a lot more YT, but over time I’ve found I desire to watch far less. My average screen time on here is < 3 hrs/week.
I'm not sure how old you are but there's this scene from an episode of Catfish where this guy said, "That's the thing, she doesn't have social media. Who doesn't have social media nowadays??" and Kamie said, "Exactly!" Hahaha I mean, nowadays many people are on it so when I meet somebody new and we click, I want their social media so we can keep up with each other and if they don't have it then, I just don't know. lol I showed that scene to my best friend (26 and no social media). Catfish LITERALLY says that it's a red flag if you don't have social media. I mean 🤷♀Haha Social media has become pretty big over the years and is essential some people's careers. Artists use it to promote their music, actors use it to promote their movies and tv shows, companies use it to get ads about their businesses out there to attract potential employees. Social media isn't all bad. It's just how you use it. It's better to use it too much than it is to use for bad. I'll admit I should use it a little less than I do but, it's fun and I'm not giving it up. I don't know how those who got rid of it all completely can do it. I'd lose my mind. Haha
The only purpose for me to be there on social media (Instagram and FB) is to gather audience for my blog. Can tiy kindly suggest some ways other than social media to gather audience for my blog? Thanks in advance!
Hi there - I understand that; however, I found an article that you might find helpful. It highlights alternative ways to promote a blog: jessicawangelin.com/seven-ways-to-promote-blog-posts-without-social-media/
Have you quit any social media apps? How do you use your scroll-free time now? 🤳🏽
Complete school assignments early.
i started learning different languages again and knowing the patterns of myself and focus on studies.

I'm quitting Instagram in 2024.
I don't use any of the others.
I may consider RUclips. Idk why it feels different. It just does.
I definitely feel RUclips is a place to escape to,at the same time you learn something while being on it.
Agreed 👍🏽
Actually not..now ure addicted to youtube..it means ure stil spending as much time on digital as u "replaced" social media with youtuve
Are you scrolling ?
@@HaleyVillenaisn’t RUclips just replacing instagram?
Prob just replaced instagram with RUclips LOL
I love that young people are finding their own language around these addictions. Love this.
I'm so happy for you that you're experiencing so many positive effects from deactivating your social media accounts! Thanks for sharing 🫶🏽
I deleted my Facebook two months ago and I just deleted my Instagram for the tenth time, yesterday. I’m just tired of posting for others who I barely talk to. I had to realize that people on Instagram aren’t my friends.
Good for you! Hope the IG delete works for you this time 🤞🏽
I deleted my social media 2 months a go, and I realized I should've done it earlier. Social media was wasting my time and gave me anxiety. Then I began to hit the gym without my phone, and do anything like travel and studied tons of new things without my phone. So good!
I want to experience this so bad x
Thats great!!
Awesome!
Kudos to you! I am doing similar things and am excited to see so many people doing the same!
A number of things I realised:
9. Social media has increased loneliness, isolation, anxiety and depression which can be severe, and sometimes suicides
I’m 5.5 years without social media, it’s been life changing 👍🤗
Life must be very different - in a good way! Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you for watching! It’s awesome to hear that you’re having a similar experience, super happy for you. We’ve got everything we need 🫶🏽
I totally agree with the feeling!!
Yes to everything you said, I too am 50. I am so over instagram trying sell me something. I like to live a quiet private life.
Great job. 👍
Keep it up. 💯
Ive been free for only 2.5 months so far (January 2024).
I made some mistakes going back on some platforms, since January 2023.
You are 100% right about the addiction. Anyone can do it. They just have to want to.
Ironically, it was tiktok that lead me to the decision to quit/detox from
Social media. I came across a video of a lady who was doing a social media detox after reading Dopamine Nation. So, I ordered the audible version, listened over Easter weekend and committed to no social media for 90 days. Today is day 7. Day 4 I was crawling in my skin, which surprised me.
As I watched your video today, I’ve noticed that
A) I watched the entire video without feeling distracted.
Starting this journey TODAY!
GET IT! I hope you find so much peace and contentment being off of it! 🫶🏽
starting today. hope things are well for you ❤
The impulsive shopping is one of the lesser known and under appreciated aspects of our time on social media.
Thanks! I am starting my journey without social media.
I deleted mine last month.💯😊
Smartest thing I've done in a long time. Been off social media for 2 years. I wish I could quit my phone.
Thanks for sharing Ana, very valid thoughts 🙌🏽
Amazing! I’m so happy for you ☺️
Love this! I felt God calling me to take a break from Instagram specifically, probably because it’s the one I just aimlessly scroll on the most. I deactivated it for now, it’s a nice break. It’s hard to feel like we are ever doing enough while watching everyone’s highlight reels on a daily basis. 💞
Couldn’t agree more. I hope you find peace without it! Maybe you won’t even end up going back to the app 🙆🏽♀️
Agreed - so much peace!
@@HaleyVillena Yes! I actually would like to delete tiktok sometimes but I’m not sure since I’m an upcoming author.
I never had TikTok and I deleted Instagram 2 Year ago
I have RUclips for meditation and learning languages
And messenger to talk with my family they live in an other country
I replaced all that with books and appreciate my simple life
Instagram makes me sad and I was in a comparison with other people and hating my life
But now I feel free
Hi Amy - thank you for sharing about your experience. You deserve to feel free!
I'm so happy for you! Wishing you success
I loved this❤️ Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching and supporting 🥰 hope you have a great day!
I loved this because I've realized that social media wasted my time. Instead, I'd rather read books, watch movies, exercise and hang out with my friends on my free time.
Hi Brandon - it sounds like you've found some fulfilling ways to spend your time.
@@HaleyVillena Yes, indeed I have Haley.
Hey I have a question just need other people point of view
Till now I didn't have any social media account except yt What'sapp etc for use
So my question till now I didn't felt need of it but recently I feel like I am not connected to people and feel the urge to see whats happening around with them on maybe insta, like I don't gonna meet them frequently and I feel guilty no using Insta I feel if I use it I will somehow connected to them?
Agreed - Instagram is notorious for constant highlight reels which is seen way less in long form videos on RUclips!
I have just deleted my social media yay!! I’m keeping Pinterest, Facebook and RUclips though
So what you delete then?
I am deleting mine as you speak, i´ll update you all in like a month.♥
Goodluck 🫶🏽
How was it ?
So grateful to be able to connect with you on here💓
Deleted my social media 20 days and im loving life without them
I’m trying to do this, TikTok is so addicting n I’m having hard time with it. I also feel like I I compare myself to others when it comes to social media
Awareness was my first step! Maybe try a detox first and see how you feel 🤗
I have found tick tock, gives me personally a ton of anxiety. Lots of fear mongers on there. I want only peace in my life!
@@kmars3239 I definitely agree, I deleted it the other day and haven’t been on it since
What's funny about all this is that as soon as I reduced my use of social media and started to stop for good, other habits also disappeared, like smoking weed, drinking too much coffee, among others, it seems like the 80-20 Pareto rule to me.
THIS. Habits definitely influence other habits - especially the ones that aren’t always so good for us.
Exactly! I was just thinking that maybe it's social media and apps that are the gateway drug that's behind the drug crisis going on in America. Your body responds to social media and apps as if it is a drug.
i've quit social media for about a month now and i sold my phone last week to buy a dumb phone!
reading this on a set break at the gym. everyone here at the gym is on their phone between sets. nobody is speaking to one another unless they are known to one another outside the gym. it's bizarre how social and how unsocial this place is.
I'm not saying my life is perfect but I'm 35 and never had social media and I feel great that I'm not getting involved in people's personal life
I did the same and had "friends" who stop getting pictures with me because they couldn't tag me in them online and "there was no point" on taking them... This was shocking to me
Wow that’s disappointing to hear, I’m sorry that happened to you ❤️☹️
I'm actually thinking about deleting Instagram for two reasons.
3:18 i also feel that ! 😢
When I do delete all my social media accounts, I’ve got plenty to do people to go see people on old folks homes that never get a visit like I said there’s plenty to do. I will never miss it.
It’s been one month for me since instagram…my account is deleted and gone. It’s been 30 days already. Now if I can leave twitter.
I've deleted Twitter about a month and a halfish ago (it was kind of a natural process, I started finding Twitter so boring lol thank god) and tiktok I deleted my account like 2ish weeks ago. It was so time consuming and I was ADDICTED to everything about tiktok.
I'm still on ig but not as often as I used to
As a Dj i deleted for second time the fb profile but i kept the messenger.
Sounds like you have a solid plan! 🤗
i have tried facebook 7 times, and it's frustrating me. everyone is out for themselves, and i may get rid of it again. i never joined instagram or tik tok. I was just on tik tok, and couldn't figure out how to make videos stop auto playing/starting. It was loud and silly. I yelled at the screen. I don't think i'll ever join tik tok. It's okay, it's just not a fit for me. Great video.
The best thing I did
🙌🏽
I couldn't ever do youtube on the phone...why? No adblocker. that's an automatic nope for me. Not watching it on phone because no ads...also shorts are awful
I am for this! But, why do most people feel that You Tube is not social. 😅If you are on YT isnt that social media too? It definitetly feels different. I am not being a smarty. I really want to know how people feel about this. 😊
I only use RUclips and i delete my another social media🤷♀️
RUclips is ok im moderation however social media has destroyed Generation Z ❤ thanks love for content really helpful.
Great video! Do you mind sharing the name of the wallet ❤
Thank you! It's the small Prada Saffiano wallet ☺️
Very Valuable content 🤍 Thank you . Would you mind sharing the information to your sofa?
I’m glad this resonated with you 🙌🏽 It’s from a Vancouver brand called Couch Haus (premium plus fabric in Off White)!
Thank You so much 🤍
Hi, i have a question, is it a trend to delete social media this year ? I also delete all my social media several years ago, I use until my ig for my business & my clients
I would not say this is a trend. I think people are just realizing how harmful social media can actually be, and deciding to make a life change.
i feel like youtube more of like a broadcasting media ?! ,, like not everyone has a youtube channel and uploads videos, unlike the other social media platforms where everyone who has an account uploads there
Omg I am Social media free… And I am in the scrolling RUclips way too much phase! Now I wish I could deactivate RUclips lol
Can i ask did you deleted the app or also deleted your account thanks.
I’ve deactivated all my accounts 🤗
❤get off social media before you get addicted ❤
Hey, I can’t find the app you talk about
It’s called “Later”!
Using only youtube to watch videos like yours
Then how about You Tube? do u use it?
It’s much more of a “work” platform for me. At the start of my journey I was watching a lot more YT, but over time I’ve found I desire to watch far less. My average screen time on here is < 3 hrs/week.
I just deactivated all my social media accounts
Haha
Thanks for sharing your take on this Linda!

The only purpose for me to be there on social media (Instagram and FB) is to gather audience for my blog. Can tiy kindly suggest some ways other than social media to gather audience for my blog? Thanks in advance!
