I feel like I just found something holy... can't thank you enough for being so thorough! I just bought my first gel kit and it didn't come with instructions, cure times, nothin. This tutorial saved me :'D
THANK YOU!! I've been wanting to start playing around with nail enhancements for a while and had mostly considered acrylic just because it's less of a mystery to me... But I can't stand the smell! So I've been looking at gel but, yeah, this is 100% the most useful video I've seen for a newbie like me. I'm off to watch the rest of them!!
As a manicurist of more years than I want to say lol I thought this was a really great video of explaining how to build the correct nail shape. I see so many sets of nails done where they are just flat across....no c-cuve, no apex, just flat and look like someone stuck a piece of ceramic tile on each nail! Even for clients who naturally have flat nails, they can still be built and sculpted to create beautiful enhancements. Excellent video :D
I will literally never do this to my own nails but your detailed instructions and incredible editing made this a video I couldn't stop watching. Awesome!
Wow. I've seen quite a lot of videos on how to build the correct structure with gel, but yours was the most helpful. Precise instructions and the animations definitely helped understanding the placement and shape of the apex. Thank you! 😊♥️
This is THE best tutorial I have seen!! I'm starting a business and the luxury of visiting my nail salon has to go for a while and I was looking for a great alternative. It's so detailed and beginner friendly. THANK YOU! Great editing also!
this video is so helpful!!!❤️ I've been trying to teach myself how to do nail extensions and they usually turn out alright, but my nails look so much better after watching this omg! thanks for always explaining things so clearly.
Thank you so much for making this video! I’ve watched a lot of other RUclipsrs try to explain how to apply a proper gel extension but for some reason your video was exactly what I needed to truly understand the how and why. Subscribed! 🤗🎉💅🏼
I appreciate this precisely written and clearly- worded instructional video SO MUCH!! I am the type who needs to read manuals, lol. The trend of "learning by watching/doing" has left me in the dust! Your directions leave me finally feeling like I have a grasp of what to do with these materials! Your excellent vocabulary and fluid logic is the first I've come across in years that fills in all the steps, all the gaps in terminology that previously left me stuttering and unsure even of what questions to ask! Sincerely: I know that instructional presentation is not entirely easy to write. (I've had to do it!) You have done a great job with these videos. THANKS! Sincerely, An Appreciative Book Worm 🙃
Your videos gave me the confidence to try to do my own nails at home! Would you consider also doing a video on gel nail refills? And how long do you think is okay to keep the gel nails on before removing them?
Trust me it took time to finesse. Practice really does enhance your skills greatly so you’ll get there. Or it could be the gel your using, maybe its just not that easy to work with. I have brands i prefer over others and that definitely helps.
Love how concise and informative this is! Can you do one of these but for polygel or some sort of polygel video. I wanna try it but I don’t feel confident enough yet
This was a really good video. A bit fast for taking notes but I just paused it. The 1st video I found with exact step by step from beginning to end. Thanks.
I absolutely love your videos! And your editing is immaculate! Your videos has been very helpful! Beside the presto gel polishes, have you used any other brands like opi, essie, shellac? If so, what are your thoughts?
Shev I havent used many gel polishes. only Presto, NOQ, Vetro, and Gelish. I use gel paints more than gel polish, but the N.O.Q gels are very easy to use if your looking for a cheaper price.
+abetweene I’ll probably find this in another vid, but I too prefer gel paints for any color work on top of an extension. Looking to expand my collection since I’m sick of mixing colors. Would vetro be the best bet? I honestly don’t do much work on top of nails so have been hesitant to invest a lot of $$
Absolutely. Just keep in mind Vetro has a star system thats tells you how bold the color is.one star is sheer, 2 stars is medium/buildable, 3 stars is Opaque.
I've been subed to you for quite some time. you are very talented. recently I've been diagnosed with eczema on my hands, never had it as a child, it just appeared, and ive been scared af to get my nails done again bc of the sensitivity of my skin all around my nails and hands. I plan on investing in some materials so i can start doing my own nails like yourself. super excited to start! getting my nails done was pretty much the only thing i treated myself too, so you can imagine how feel about not having them. lol you're such a good teacher!
+Jasmine Pagan Srry to hear that. Its great that your taking it into your own hands instead of missing out on treating yourself though. Thanks so much for the compliment.. wish u the best
great video! im not a professional but i have been doing my own nails for quite some time and its really nice to learn/See a different technique from time to time.also since i have hardly Problems anymore with a normal nail enhancement im more interested on how you would explain the nail shapes.the differences on how to put on a Form for russian almond, marylin, coffin/ballerina. which angles and/or how far does the Form has to stick up or down, does it have to be Open or closed. maybe you could explain that in videos, with your great explaining you could pull it off.thanks i will share this video in groups. greetings from germany!
this is the best ,clearest , professional video that i have seen. I wish I had watched it before I did my current set. I didn't pinch my nails. they look wide and flat
Do you have any advice on how to find an amazing nail tech in a new city? What questions should I be asking them? You're so thoughtful in your technique and your work is so stunning, but I can never seem to find a tech that puts so much thought into their work!
Instagram. Find accounts that post their work & their process, i.e reels and igtv, or even youtube videos of them working on their clients. That way you can see their technique, style, and how or if they care for their clients natural nails as well.
This is all stuff I know and can do well but, man, I had to watch because you explained everything so much better than I could ever do! Love your channel! Subbed!
I have recently become a fan of your videos. Your explanation and knowledge of the products you use are clear and easy to understand. May I ask which website you use to buy your products? I need some stability on the free edge of my nails, but don't want to use acrylic so I figured I would do this method! Thanks in advance! xoxo
Im so glad your enjoying my videos! Where I shop really depends on the product, but for the most part I like quality gels so I purchase from naillabostore.com, vetro-us.com, and oceannailsupply.com. I also shop at wiinoshop.com, tatnail.us,and thenailhub.com occasionally.
Ive wondered if there was builder soak off gel and here it is. Ive used the regular thinner soak off gel for my enhancements and considered building with it, but decided against it because its so thin. This is fantastic Now i can purchase the rest of my enhancements off alieexpress
I wanted you to know that I lovee your videos and have been watching them for so long, and that with all your help I think I can give myself a nail extension one day so tysm
very nice tutorial. whnever I try doing my nails they always chipping from the sides n a day or two and ltr from the free edge of extension. also whn they peel on the free edge of extension they peel n layers as I can actually feel the tacky surface of every layer. can u guide how to avoid tht and hv a long lasting nail extension
jalpa mehta If your not already using primer, try it. Also it sounds like your gel maybe layered too thin thus it chipping quickly. Same thing for the breaking along the free edge, it sounds like its not built up enough. both areas are stress points, so add more gel
abetweene . thnx a lot for ur reply. yes I do use primer so tht could not b the reason. but will surely try applying more gel and see how it goes. thnx alot.
This is the first video of yours I have watched (thank you RUclips for recommending) and the nail is so beautifully done. I wish all nail technicians did this. And finally I have found someone who does a natural thin free edge. Thank you. Did you buff/file your natural nail before adding the gel or just dehydrate it? My nails are so thin they can't take the buffing/filing. They are a complete disaster having had acrylic (with tips) done two weeks ago. Thanks for the fab video.
I did already prep my nail by gently buffing with a 240 sponge file. You can use something as fine as a 320 or use a high adhesive. base gel that doesn’t require sanding of the natural nail. The Vetro Base Max & Leaf Gel base are two i know of that require low to no filing first. Either that or you can wait for your nails to grow out more (which im sure your not too keen on). For really damaged nails I also recommend ibx treatments!
great video, very conscise. I am just starting out. I bought evething I need to start, just wondering what your favorite builder gel is and would it be easier to work with a thicker gel or? and also when you flip the nail for leveling how long should you do that for? thank you so much. just subbed. Dianne
Excellent video! You make it look so easy! 😁 So in theory, could you brush on the gel like a polish and then do a thick line down the middle and slightly towards the side walls (like a Mohawk, for lack of a better word 😝) and then flip your finger over to level the apex? I'm just struggling with the floating! Also, do you have a video or know of one that explains how to handle the brush during application? For example, acrylic brushes are constantly being wiped off but what is the technique with gel brushes? Thanks for your time!! 😊
Ashley Costello Yes thats a perfect description actually!!! Everyone may hold their brush differently. The most comfortable way for any given person is to hold it the way you would gold a pen or pencil. It will feel natural that way.
Everyone shows you how to apply hard gel but not one person Ive researched has said exactly the depth of the nail structures should be! ie... The free edge is less than a credit card. And you have!! Thank you!! Do you have a hard gel rebalance video?
You're video is so helpful! I am new to sculpted nail gels and I've been having troubles with dents/dimples (I don't know what else to call it) on the nail surface after curing. Do you know how I can prevent this?
+Caitlin Arndt Sounds Your likely just not filling those areas. When you sculpt the nail, move your hand side to side to see the reflection from the light. Wherever that reflection line isnt straight, it means you have a dent. Float a little more gel if needed in that spot, and be sure to hang the nail upside down to create an even surface.
🙌🏼 Would you recommend the nail form stickers or the little nail tip sculpts (not tips) to make an extension? Would you say one is easier than the other ?
I would recommend a nail form (sticker) over the dual forms. I actually haven’t tried the dual forms but ive just ordered some so i can do a legit review.
Hey, first thank you so much for your videos you help me so much you won't even understand ❤ my question is I have a gel polish kit and every time I paint my nails with the gel after at least a week it all just peels off. I did everything u said in your video (not this one...:) What can i do to make it stay? Thanks💕💕
Hi . This is a very helpful video.. I just wanted to ask if I can use a bond aid instead of a primer? Also, can u please tell me the difference between the two ? Thanks a lot :)
+arshi verma I believe Bond Aid is essentially a dehydrator, but i haven't used it so im not positive. If after applying it to the nail, the nail looks "conditioned and damp" then it is a primer. If after applying it the nails looks dehydrated, dry, or chalky then it isnt the same. Dehydrators remove oil and moisture from the nail plate in preparation, while primers create an acid or non-acid bond to help adhesion.
hi! thank you so much for all of your nail videos, they are so incredibly helpful. you are an amazing teacher! i have a beginner's question--do you think that i could put on a tip, then apply several layers of a base gel in the same technique you described here, then use a color gel overtop? or is the specific structure gel necessary? if so, what structure gel would you most recommend for a beginner? thank you so much!!! 😘
You could try it, but it may very likely be difficult to work with if your gel is thin, because the product will level quickly instead of building height in the appropriate areas like the apex. I would recommend ibd soak off builder gel. Its very easy to work with and u can find it on ebay for around $10 with free shipping.
abetweene thanks for the recommendation! there's so many products out there, it can be so hard to figure out which is best. i'll pick some of that up! 💖
I LOVE YOUR VIDS! I Can you tell me what a flash cure is and how long I should cure my nails from start to finish? My coworker gave me a LED Lamp so that I can start practicing. I'm just not sure how long I should be curing for.
+Jacqueline Sierra Thanks so much! ❤️ a flash cure is just a "quick" cure in a led/uv lamp to "freeze" or slightly dry your gel polish/paint, etc. If your afraid the gel will run or smear, flash curing will prevent it from moving while you do you work on another nail. Soak off gel generally cures in 30 seconds, but you should always follow the instructions for the specific brand that your using. So each layer of gel you apply should be cured for that amount of time unless otherwise stated on the packaging.
abetweene I finally attempted to use my ibd gel kit and made a mess! Haha. It was my first attempt. I think I have to get good lamp and practice some more
I found this video searching for a reason why the set I just did earlier today already has a casualty. 1 broke clean off at the free edge. I'm hoping changing to your method will help.
This may have been asked already, but you used hard gel for the free edge ONLY and used ibd soak off builder gel for the actual nail itself? If so, was that so that it'd be easy to remove?
I'm thinking about getting Gel Extension for when I travel, do you think its a good idea? how long does it last? and are they hard to take care of? thank you :)
What's the difference between a primer and a bonder? When it comes to prepping the nail for sculpting gel extensions, could you go ahead and skip primer and just use something like Gelish/Harmony's pH bond?
+KawaiiStrawberry33 Some companies use the 2 words to be interchangeably and some dont. Prime example is the Gelish ph bond which us Not a primer. Ive used it and it is essentially a dehydrator. you can skip the primer ( if you dont get lifting).
Did you use normal gel polish as your base coat or is it just a thin layer of overlay? If it's gel polish, could you)(or someone else who knows) please explain why? I find gel polish tends to peel off my natural nail, so I'd be concerned about using it as a base coat.
+Julie J Im using clear base gel that comes it a pot instead of a bottle, but theres difference. If you base gel is lifting/peeling I would suggest trying a different brand.
I always appreciate how clearly and concisely you explain the information in your videos. Thanks for another great video! #BlackGirlMagic
sweetiepye0331 Thanks sweetie! I try my best
You are literally helping me pass Beauty School, your teaching makes so much more sense than any of my teachers thank you so much ❤️

+tessa clair Absolutely, Ill have a fill coming pretty soon. you can wear them as long as youd like! I usually give in around 4-5 weeks
You're amazing! You explain things so clearly and the visualisations help a lot. Thank you!
Awww, dont make me blush! So glad to help : )
abetweene I did my first nail extensions this week based on your video and they turned out GREAT.
This was great I love how clear and straight forward you are
The simplicity of your videos makes this seem so easy. It's been a struggle but I'm going to keep trying.
Trust me it took time to finesse. Practice really does enhance your skills greatly so you’ll get there. Or it could be the gel your using, maybe its just not that easy to work with. I have brands i prefer over others and that definitely helps.
It may be a gel and tool issue. If I could get all my fingers to look as half as good as my right thumb I'll feel accomplished.
Love how concise and informative this is! Can you do one of these but for polygel or some sort of polygel video. I wanna try it but I don’t feel confident enough yet
I have a polygel video actually using madam glam... check my extensions playlist 😉
I look forward to all your videos!

Very good explain.I love your videos!
This is the first video of yours I have watched (thank you RUclips for recommending) and the nail is so beautifully done. I wish all nail technicians did this. Thank you so much for replying. I'll make sure to have a sponge file used next time, not an electric file.

Hey, first thank you so much for your videos you help me so much you won't even understand ❤
my question is I have a gel polish kit and every time I paint my nails with the gel after at least a week it all just peels off.
I did everything u said in your video (not this one...:)
What can i do to make it stay?
Thanks💕💕
try using a primer. if that still doesn't work you may want to try a different brand . נועה בוכריץ
abetweene i'll❤ thanks💕
yes there definitely is! Your very welcome and gd luck!
it's vry use full for beginners mem thnx
Very simple explanation thank you so am👍👏👏👏👏😍 a new subscriber
I LOVE YOUR VIDS! I
Can you tell me what a flash cure is and how long I should cure my nails from start to finish?
I think I have to get good lamp and practice some more
+Jacqueline Sierra Lol, practice is definitely the key 🔑
I found this video searching for a reason why the set I just did earlier today already has a casualty. 1 broke clean off at the free edge. I'm hoping changing to your method will help.
+HAMBURGLAR good luck!
This may have been asked already, but you used hard gel for the free edge ONLY and used ibd soak off builder gel for the actual nail itself? If so, was that so that it'd be easy to remove?
Sladers10 Correct! I dont believe in putting anything on the nail that you cannot easily remove.
That was excellent.
You are the best I am french and I love your video
sabou1308 Merci 😘
Great video!
+Yoselin Bolanos thanks!
Well done. Thank you.
+Laurie Kilborn thanks!
Your 'primer' looked more like dehydrator. Primer stays a bit shiny. Very nice video! TFS hun 🤗
Shwee Beez you caught me! I only had footage of me using the dehydrator but i used a primer after, Lol
abetweene Lol I can tell you know what you're doing! 💁 Love seeing great content like this with the correct info! New sub 🤗
I'm thinking about getting Gel Extension for when I travel, do you think its a good idea? how long does it last? and are they hard to take care of? thank you :)
sure, just be sure to get a hard gel so it lasts longer and is more durable.
thank you
How sturdy is this this type of manicure?
Wow that was really clear and easy to understand. Wish I would've waited to sell all my gel stuff...;(
Awww damn
very informative i love it !
+jazzy jas thanks!
Oh I see! Thanks so much!!!
I'm going to try this method the next time I do my nails. the only thing is I use soak off gel;does that make a difference?
sade8821 Nope no difference, i used soak off gel as well. I only use hard gel for the free edge
thanks
It's probably a really stupid question but I pinch my nails after I have cured them, right?
yes
just subscribed you are really awsome thank you!
