@@viktorzolsar8873 I have a couple of kayaks and have been fishing out of them for years. The best tips that I can give to anyone looking to fish out of a kayak are these two things: A quality anchor trolley run from bow to stern and a foot operated rudder. Both of these items can be added to a kayak if it doesn’t already have them. I’ve installed rudders on 3 kayaks that weren’t made for them. It’s a pain sometimes getting them installed but if you’re mechanically inclined, you won’t have a problem. The anchor trolley will allow you to position your yak how you want it to sit to fish a particular situation. The rudder, in current, will allow your hands to be free to fish and not have to keep setting your rod down to grab your paddle and right the direction that your yak is turning. It also allows you to easily position yourself while floating in current to cast to specific spots, all the time your hands are free. In still water it’s beneficial on windy days while fishing. It seems that there are many manufactures that put a couple of rod holders on a yak and call it a fishing kayak, not so. I have an Old Town Vapor Angler and they added a 2 foot long anchor trolley mounted in the back of the yak (that is totally useless), 2 rod holders and a dock cleat. They did this to a standard Vapor and called it a fishing kayak. There are many other things to do to make fishing out of it enjoyable but to me, these two things are the most critical to aid in fishability. One last thing. I really wanted a peddle kayak (and still do) when I bought my second yak but I ended up getting one with a built-in trolling motor (Old Town Predator Minn Kota) instead. The driving force that led me to this decision was that the peddle kayaks required you to turn using a hand operated lever (defeating a foot controlled rudder to leave your hands free to fish). I don’t know if there are any companies out there making peddle kayaks that you can turn without using your hands but if there are, I’d definitely recommend a peddle kayak, if there aren’t, I would not recommend a peddle for fishing. Obviously if you always anchor while fishing, this is a moot point but if fishing while moving, it’s much nicer to have your hands 100% free. Tight lines!

Actually having you're back to the sun is not the best way to fish for bass. If the sun is out and it’s behind you, it casts a shadow in the area that you are fishing. How far out it cast that shadow is dependent on how high or low the sun is in the sky. If the sun is high, at 12:00, the shadow is below you and no shadow is cast into your fishing area but the lower the sun gets in the sky, the farther out you cast a shadow. Bass freak out when a shadow is cast over them because it triggers its instinctual fear reaction because of being attack from above the water, just like in your video when that eagle swoops down and grabs a bass. You’re better off to have the sun to one of your sides or in front and fish the shadows and shadow edges just as though they were a piece of cover. Just my two cents worth.
Another safety measure people should know is if they can paddle those 100+lb kayaks back to shore if the pedal drive breaks. Ive seen full grown men have to call for help because they cant paddle their Slayer Propel against the wind or current.

Obviously being comfortable, safe, not getting sunburnt, etc. would enhance the experience. I have yet to see anyone make a video on this subject. People talk poles and lures, never shoes or the gloves they wear.
Thanks
Arthur, thanks for letting me know this. I may start putting something together to cover this. You are right.. I don't see videos on it either. Appreciate it.
Hmm.. I wonder if some roll on truck bed liner would work for a keel guard. Like Line-X or Rhino Liner.
The issue you may run into is the bond to the HDPE.... Let me know what you come up with.. I'm interested
I use a Mana-Ray 14 Native and I store it under my carport every day it's not in use Can you tell me if that's a good one The price I only paid $200. for it at the time But I have a trolling motor and scotty rod holders and a striker 4 fish finder on it I don't have the best paddle for it I'm going to buy me a good one like the one you was showing on this video I just hope I didn't go wrong on the price O and I did put the keel Guard you was talking about using me heat gun to form it Thanks man Central Indiana here Randolph County Great Video man
I would say that if you got any kayak for $200 then someone should call the cops because that is a steal. Its a big boat but you definitely have a ton of storage on that bad boy. Sound like you have a fishing machine... now us Midwesterners just need to wait until spring.
I've considered using the spray on truck bed liner as a keel guard but a lot of people poo poo bed liner on forums.
Yeah... I would agree.. it's garbage. This is the best DIY option I could come up with.. Hope it helps: ruclips.net/video/gWgDEaZalbk/видео.html
@@wendellfishing I actually ended up designing and 3d printing a mount for skateboard wheel on my keel.

Great tips and really good fast paced presentation, well done 👍
I appreciate it! Trying to dial in my thoughts and removing the fluff... Every video is getting better!
@@wendellfishing Yeah you got it nailed. It's incredibly difficult to deliver information at the right speed so it's not getting boring for the viewers. I'm struggling with that a lot.
Hey, just as long as your current video is 1% better than the last than your last then you are on the right track.
@@wendellfishing haha, yeah very true :)
Love the channel…and brand new sub here…
Gotta take STRONG exception on one point of gear mentioned….
The YAK ATTACK SAFETY FLAG.
That price is INSANE…. And believe me, I love my Omega rod holders and cup holders from them!
So I’m of same belief you are…. Hack it where you can.
And the flag? Well it’s begging for a hack. A Walmart bicycle flag or anything of the like, mounted in your choice of methods, depending on your yak.
This is a mod I did for about …. EIGHTY FIVE DOLLARS LESS THAN YAK ATTACKS FLAG KIT!
Other than that? Amazing content sir!
Been devouring it tonight, and will share it with friends!
Peace and tight lines sir!
Thanks for reaching out boss! I would agree with you. I need to do a video on that hack because the safety flag is $$$. Good feedback! Reach out anytime! Kayak fishing is life!
Thanks man. Awesome info. Someone gotta do it
Right on Chris! Thanks
Southeastern michigan. Not to far away at all. I am just pass Toledo.
Niiiice! Just passed there hours ago
Thanks for the information. Thinking about buying my first one and enjoy some fishing.
No problem! You will absolutely love it.
great video Sir you have a new subscriber from Ireland
Right on Joe.. welcome
Which kayak would be best birthday present for self. I've been in a 2 person but I want the good flippi g resistance.
Rodney, Great question… what’s your budget? Pedal or Paddle powered? Your weight? Wha body of water do you primarily fish?
Just in lakes, around 600 for budget, weigh 170 5 ft 4. I'm a beginner so I want to be as steady as possible
Also I don’t like on the water and I have to drag my kayak will that mess it up or is there like a trailer for it
Try looking up "Landing Gear"
Hey how did the gorilla tape hold up?
I’m thinking about going that route to see if I can protect the bottom of my yak
I didn't end up putting it on my Sun Dolphin because I don't use that yak but a couple times a year as a buddy kayak. Didn't warrant the tape. I honestly don't believe that Gorilla tape will hold up for the weekend warrior. I did another video on a DIY keel guard made out of Kydex. ruclips.net/video/gWgDEaZalbk/видео.html

Hey man you said you fish in NE Ohio I am also. NEO kayak fisherman, this is my second year kayak fishing may see you out this year!
Right on.. What lakes do you hit around here?
Hey great video. I’m new to fishing and I want to get back into kayaking. I haven’t done it since I was a teenager. I heard your in north east Ohio in this video. I’m in that area.

Great tips. Earned yourself a new subscriber. Have a Jackson Kraken 15'7" yak. I feel, it's like a WWII Battleship, long and narrow but I love it. Too bad Jackson quit making it and the smaller 13"5" model.
Right on Frank... Appreciate the Sub and will continue to do all that I can to continue to bring value. A 15.7 yak is a long BEAST. My back hurts thinking about moving it :)
Informative ! Thank you
Glad it was helpful Ken!
I love the CAMO Kayak in the back....LOL
Lol… sometimes a good deal on FB Marketplace outweighs wisdom :)

If you put a half twist in your tie down straps they won't vibrate.

Thanks for the add! Appreciate it!
Another safety measure people should know is if they can paddle those 100+lb kayaks back to shore if the pedal drive breaks. Ive seen full grown men have to call for help because they cant paddle their Slayer Propel against the wind or current.
Big facts there
Do u fish on Nims? I heard bald eagle, and thats the lake i was thinking. I fish there alot, maybe i will run into ya. I dig the videos. Thanks!
Yessir! I’m the one on the camo Bonafide P127 with black and red kayak crate. What rig do you run?
@@wendellfishing I had a SS127 just recently got a P127. Hopefully i will meet ya. Small world!
@@wendellfishing I was fishing topwater on Nims two years ago and had an Eagle swoop down and try to get my Evergreen Shower Blows lure. Crazy experience. I use the One Objective Keel Guard on my Bonafides. I found out that 303 doesn’t work well with adhesive for the guard. So I cleaned the keel off with acetone before installing the guards.
What's your location? I'm in Youngstown?
I mostly fish mosquito or the mahoning river sometimes I'll go to Eldon Russell on the Cuyahoga too great pike fishing there
Hey David, I'm over here in the Hartville area so I fish Mogadore a lot! Let me know if you are ever over this way

Really.. so weird. .. I see them all the time on FB Marketplace.
the strap will NOT vibrate if you add a couple twisis before you tie it up
Tip: put a twist in your strap to avoid the wind vibrations.
Right on
Just bought a blue camo kayak like a hr ago now I see this but I liked the color so I don't care
Lol… I have a straight up camo so you are in good company. What yak did you end up grabbing?
Hey, NE Ohio. Have you fished Berlin Lake?
It's around me... but not really known for great bass
@@wendellfishing With a kayak ( or small boat) the shallow backwaters can produce some decent size and quality fish in late spring and summer, before the water gets too shallow. There are some very decent channel catfish available, which are certainly fun to catch from shore or watercraft. Thank you for sharing good information.
First video I’ve watched since purchasing my camo kayak SMH
Ha! I just purchased my second fishing kayak.. and yep.. it was camo. Not a huge risk if you are fishing lakes and ponds with low motor limits. Congrats on the yak Kony!
Wendell need help! I need to replace the handles on my kayak. I can't remove the screw! It just keeps turning! I didn't strip the screw yet but its close! Can you help please?
What type of kayak do you have? Is it the steering handle or just the handles to pick up the yak?
@@wendellfishing the carrying handles. It’s an older Predator. The screws just turn. Thanks for the reply
uv rays cant go threw glass youre fine buddy
Depends on the wavelength. The closer you get to the visual part of the spectrum, the more transmisive glass will be.
How has that gorilla tread tape holding up?
Haven’t had it out yet as it’s my buddy Kayak… I will let you know how it holds up as I’m fishing with it for 4 days straight here in a couple of weeks.
