It is a great challenge for our Engineers to fly Kaveri on a single engine Tejas. Zero scope for error else we lose the engine as well as test bed. I wish great success to our Engineers.

Any twin engine plane is better option than using single engine plane as a test bed. It's very dengerous thing to use lca Tejas as test bed
Its really shame on us that we can spent thousands of crores on purchasing aircrafts for our politicians, but shortage of funds for R&D for very important projects like Kaveri.. :(

Present Kaveri has similar performance as Snecma M88 used in Rafale aircrafts.
Why aren't we designing a twin Kaveri based fighter ?
It would have already be a decade of that aircraft development !
M88 generates as much thrust with much less weight, thats the key difference. Also, its said to be more fuel efficient.

What is the payload of Rafale ? 9500 kg.
If our new airframe is as efficient , it would carry 9000kg payload ; little less efficient - 8000 -7000 kg.
Weight is a big problem when an already designed aircraft's engine is replaced by a heavier engine - changing its centre of gravity & balance - forcing redesigning some parts or adding BALLAST weight.
if the aircraft is designed from the start with a heavier engine - there is no problem.
But we also need world class state-of-the-art high tech jet engine testing facility to test our indeginious jet engines with our own needs & requirements . 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

How is it possible as our whap/kestral has blast protection which is missing in stryker and with Stanag 4 protection our whap is far better protected. Same for javelin which is inferior to our MPTAGM but still inducted now.

Isn't it kinda dangerous to try out the engine on a single engine platform? I get why GTRE was pushing for mig29 or su30mki. You got no chance of error in a single engine jet.
nahin lagta ke kaveri jet engine successful ho geya, agar successful huya bhi tab bi nahin lagta ke isko kisi modern fighter jet mein istemal kiya ja sakta hai, jabki 6 - 7 months pehle jab kaveri jet engine ko test karne ko jab russia le ke jayea geya tha tab russian engineers ne bi isko fail declare kar diya tha par ab france mein keya huya ye pata nahin hai.😊😊😊😊😊

Tejas with a test engine ? .. but its a single engine plane ! There will be no backup ! I think India should look for other alternatives for test bed. Some twin engine plane.

even F404 is generating just 79-80 KN thrust if kaveri somehow reach there next tejas order can come with kaveri no more begging to GE to increase production and all. If not it will be useful in next engine upgrade for which we still have almost a decade

You wasted too much time. Media was not wrong. Kaveri by 2030 will be made the required kN to be made for Tejas. This current version is 55kN range.
Kaveri Twin Engine Tejas based on Tejas MK2 need to be inducted by 2030 on war footing basis. This can derisk HAL delivery delays, GE engine, Falling squadron number & a platform to test AMCA & ORCA for both Navy & Airforce

Abhi tak Tejas MK1A ki pehli delivery nahi ho saki, forget building a Kaveri powrred Tejas in 30 months.
I remember Alpha Defense claiming that if Tejas Mk1A first delivery was not made by End of March 2024, there will be serious consequences.
Its already July 2024, and no Tejas Mk1A delivery accepted by the Indian Airforce. No consequences what so ever..
Of course Alpha Defense will blather on about how production is going on and a delay of a month or 2 is no big deal. But why isn't Indian Airforce accepting these planes? Even after 3 months of first flight, the client refuses to accrpt the plane!

Is it feasible to allocate a single engine aircraft for engine testing? In terms of safety, it must be a two engines testbed like SU30/MIG29, so in case the engine fails or develop any inflight issue, the aircraft can land safely with one operational engine.

If engine is ready to use why bother putting it in Tejas? And if it's not ready (by whatever definition) then is it safe to test it in a single engine plane. Test fail hone ke bhaari consequences honge na?
