    I have an M-Audio Solo box and I love it. For years I used a Line 6 UX1. It worked for years but became noisy and thus the Solo. A good video and worth checking out some of these in the future...if I need to. I'm set for now and with all my equipment...I can't get inspired.

      The Solo is a great little interface. When I started out, I used M-Audio gear quite a bit. I had 3 of their interfaces, 2 midi controllers and I used pro tools m powered. I always thought M Audio made great quality gear for home studio musicians and producers.

      I have the M-Audio Duo which costs only $105 AUD, just $6 more than the Solo.
      Oddly for most of 2023 they were out of stock everywhere I looked, but are now available again.
      I also have an older M-Audio M-Track MkII that I bought used. Both work well.

    Hello, which one would you recommend?
    ID4 vs Evo 4
    -I have Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250Ohm headphones
    -I work in the box
    -Sometimes record vocals and guitar (rarely)
    Price difference between ID4 & Evo 4 is around $50 USD.
    This will be my first audio interface. Also, considering my use case shared above, would you recommend spending a bit more on the next variant of any of these two interfaces (Evo 8 or ID 14, based on what you recommend).
    Suggestions for any other audio interface within the same range is also welcome. Thanks!

      If you’re just working inside the box and not recording too much audio then go with the Evo out of those two options. The things that make the id4 better are mainly the converters and mic preamp. However I haven’t used the Evo so I don’t know what the headphone output is like. I know with the id4 it can handle the 250 ohm headphones no problem. So maybe have a look at what they say about the headphone output on the Evo.
      The Evo 8 and id14 are going to give you more inputs and outputs. It sounds like you won’t be needing more in’s and outs right now. But if you think you’ll need to record more than 2 inputs at a time then look at the larger interfaces.

    I want to buy an audio interface with the lowest latency possible (1-3 ms) that works well on FL Studio. What do you suggest? 2 inputs (mic and guitar)

    All solo recording video's I've seen was full of digital recordings (MIDI keyboards and software rhythms - percussion) except the singing part. I cannot afford MIDI keyboard since I already have the old school digital keyboard which didn't even have a slight hick up despite being 10 years old. I am a Mid level - Professional keyboard player; New to recording/doing on my own. My keyboard only has 2 ports (POWER, PHONES). Can I be able to record the audio in parts since the interface has 2 inputs since my recordings will all be analog?
    For example, Track 1 get's keyboard (LINE), Track 2 gets Singer (MIC), Track 3 & 4 for percussion player on standby [ some Indian percussion has 2 sides to play thus need 2 tracks ].
    I record with the singer and me playing using INPUT 1 & 2. I save the project >> Bring that mouse bar to start >> Will I be able to record track 3&4 when Track 1&2 plays (headphone to the percussion player, he hears what we played and plays his instrument accordingly).

      If your keyboard is just mono or you only want to record it in mono then you can go line out from keyboard to a line input. If it’s a stereo keyboard and you want to record it in stereo then you will need to connect line out from the keyboard to line input 1 and 2 on your interface using a y cable. If you only have 2 inputs then you will need to record your vocals during another take. So you could record your keyboard first. Then connect your mic and record your vocals next. And then record whatever else after that or whatever order you want to record in.

    For years just starting out I was using an M-Audio Delta 44 if anyone remembers those. I had to quit using it since at the time I made the jump from Windows XP to Windows 7 and it was a pain to keep up and running. I'm currently using a Komplete Audio 2 from Native Instruments. It gets the job done well I think. One thing though, that I never understood, and maybe someone can explain this to me, but why would you want to buy one of those interfaces that have the same number of inputs and outputs but cost WAY more? Like I hear a lot of folks talk about the Apollo and how great it is, but the price on those things are crazy high and have the same amount of inputs and outputs that I have right now that I was able to get for less than $100 in the Komplete Audio 2.

      The typical reason is for the converters and mic preamp quality. Better converters will give you lower latency and better audio quality. Better mic pres will give you better recordings too.
      Another thing that people care about is driver quality and continued support or updates for newer systems. But I think it’s mostly for the converters and mic pres.

      @@AudioTechTV On the other hand I doubt many regular listeners could tell the difference between mic preamps in a blind A-B test. Or if they really can tell a difference, which is the "better" one would be fairly subjective.
      Most/all? of the two-channel audio interfaces are USB class compliant, so shouldn't need drivers.

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  10 месяцев назад

      Yes the mic quality would be subjective to personal taste. But that’s why people would choose an interface over another, personal taste. Regardless of whether people would notice or not, when you start layering audio recorded through mic pres it could start to really show if they were muddy or just not pleasant sounding. Also a lot of us want to start with the best possible audio which makes mixing a lot quicker and easier.
      As for interfaces being class compliant, yes they are but if you are serious about music production you’ll want to get the ASIO driver from the manufacturers website if you’re a windows user.
      If you just record a little here and there then drivers may not be an issue for you and things like mic pres or even 16 bit Vs 24 bit won’t matter.

    M-Track Solo vs M-Track Duo ?
    Kindly suggest me please please ???

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  Год назад +2

      If you don’t think you’ll ever need a second mic preamp, and don’t care about having a separate volume knob for headphones or monitors then you can go with the solo. But if you think you may want 2 mic preamps, and like the idea of being able to control the volume of your headphones separately from your speakers then you may want to go with the Duo. Another thing to consider is that the duo has balanced 1/4” outputs for the monitors and the solo has unbalanced RCA outputs for the monitors.

    Please avoid purchasing the M-Audio Air series. I purchased it two years ago, and after using it for approximately 8 to 9 months, I began experiencing issues with the right side monitor and headphones, which produced white noise when I attempted to adjust the volume. I resorted to not touching any volume knobs for around two months. Eventually, the right side sound of both the headphones and monitors started diminishing. To balance the sound, I had to set my right monitor to +2dB and the left one to -0.5dB.
    Upon researching, I discovered that many M-Audio users frequently encounter this issue.
