If you're trying to figure out how to build a home studio, you first need to ask yourself what you're wanting to record. Are recording beats to sell? Are you trying to figure out how to build a studio so you can record an entire band?
The main two things you'll need in your music studio setup are a computer and a DAW, or Digital Audio Workstation. Once you have these studio essentials, you technically have enough to make beats.
If you're planning on building a serious home studio setup, you'll need an audio interface. These can get pretty pricey, but there are plenty of affordable interfaces that will get you professional sounding results with your home music studio.
Once you have an interface, the next thing you'll need in your homestudio is a microphone.
If you're wondering how to put together a home studio, its as simple as plugging your audio interface into your computer, and then plugging your microphone into your audio interface. You can do this with an XLR microphone cable. I quickly show you how to put together a home studio in this video.
Really, the only other thing you'll need is a pair of headphones and studio monitors. Once you plug your studio monitors into the back of your audio interface, you know how to setup a home studio.
Lots of people want to know how to build a home studio for under $350, and it's completely doable if you already have a computer. There are plenty of free DAW's out there, and you can get an audio interface and microphone bundle for pretty cheap. Be sure to look at product reviews when you're trying to figure out exactly what to buy for a home studio.
By the end of this video, you'll know how to make a home studio. If you have any questions on how to build a recording studio at home, feel free to leave a comment on this video. I'll try to answer every 'home studio how to' or 'DIY home studio' question!

That's what have been looking for 😍😍
PC
DAW
XLR Microphone
Pop filter
Microphone stand
Midi Keyboard/Interface
Audio interface
Headphones
Studio monitors
XLR MIC Cables
Thanks for watching, Kira!
Thanks dude!!
Only need 8 of these. Studio monitors aren't a necessity and if you're "room" isn't treated well then you're better off mixing with headphones as the monitors will give u a false representation of the true sound.
And u don't need a midi keyboard/interface
I would add some kind of room treatment to the list though if you don't want to sound like shit atleast bass traps.
Thanks
First time I heard the term "pop blocker" instead of "pop filter". Nice video.
Blocking "Pop stars" 🤣
He’s probably using a text checker like grammarly for his script lol
Same shit
I usually say “popper stopper” 😂
I always said pop screen
I've been on the road/recording for the past 10 years, but got stuck till the end of the video 'cause your way of speaking, +1 sub
Awesome video! I’ve been doing most of this naturally as I’ve tried building my music career and I WISH I could’ve seen this like 2 years ago haha

This is cool. It shows you really don't need too much. All I have is a microphone, and a MIDI keyboard, and headphones. My setup works well for me.

Thanks pal well frankly saying you're my guide to start my career promptly
But still I need some clarity in couple of places which is - as you said I tried to order listening and tapping microphone but I'm unable to find does it include recording option, second kindly suggest a JAW which suits for normal windows, then would be great.
But on the whole it was an crystal clear proper booklet ❤️❤️. Keep do what you do 👍👍
Thanks buddy

Cool ! I am needing some help deciding on a desk top for a studio . Want to get a computer for around 1100 and a screen for around 400 . Suggestions would be appreciated .But not going with Apple . And no lap top .
hey i have the focusrite audio interface, is that one good? Good video btw
I have surfrace pro 8. do you have any preferences or videos to use accessories for my surfrace pro?
Great direction 👍
Excellent video
Hmm got all this and a hole lot more even have the dj system to blow the roof off I am currently using the ableton live trial but it's so mind boggling I went out and bought the best of the best equipment for my studio just hope I can figure it out hope I didn't waste a bunch of money 😀
So I’m I’m thinking about buying the Rockville set that comes with the headset, speakers, monitor, and Mike with shield is that a good choice? Because I’m thinking about getting that or I should just get better stuff separate but I need to know if Rockville is good or not
someday🤞🤞🤞
so informative
Just for fun I thought I'd plug in a mic to the duel cassette recorder to record my keyboard and vocals but it didn't work. Is there a cheap way to do this? Just for ametuers?
I appreciate the brevity of laying out the essentials, AND think it's worth mentioning room treatment and sound proofing. If you put all of this gear in a room with no absorption or deflection, you'll be limited in your ability to accurately mix.
Yah exactly what I just commented in which case you can take monitors off the list because you are better off mixing with the proper headphones.
I have a question since I have a MacBook Pro would I need a special cable to connect the MacBook to the audio interface ? For instance a Scarlett 3rd generation
I using my razer siren or hyper x quad cast 2
Can I record my voice and karaoke beats on RUclips at the same time with this setup? Thanks
This one has tought me something
i just want to say:THANK YOU!!! with you i can produce Romanian music called “manele” i can make my own money.. i can’t describe my happy right now.. thank you.. GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY!❤️❤️
1.PC (any type)(Macs are too expensive and good pc can do a lot more things)
2.Audio interface + microphone
3.recording end editing software (You can get DAW but you can also get Audacity and do everything in that)
4.any midi sequencer and some vsts (you need sequencer to make sequences that you directly record to audacity)
5.Hardware synths and other real instruments (software ones are good for a short time but the hardware ones are always great)
6.stompboxes (analog efects)
This is the first time I've watched a "things you need" video and had everything in it.
it"s really good for information
Rq I’m thinking of getting a 4th gen interface with an Rode NT1 5 generation with an audio technica ATH M 50 headset will all that be able to plug into the same interface? Or are each of those for different things
Would i need any connections to the mac to connect the audio interface?
On the part where you stated a Daw....Is Fl studio 20 still legitimate to use cause I find it more easier to use when I been watching their videos...I'm rapper and I want to master my own tracks
That helps a lot but I have one question. If I want to use the pc for something else like watching videos or playing video games will I still be able to use the mic and headphone to talk/ hear on this stuff or do I need other devices directly to the pc. Thanks
Nice!
My HP Pavilion produces quite a loud noise when the fan is on, any suggestions on how to deal with that during a recording?
What about room treatment(s) and/or vocal booth. Is it detrimental to digital recording as much as the old analog days?
Informative video though!
Thanks.🎶
thank you just starting out on this music train
Pumped for you! It's fun stuff.
Thanks for watching and glad you found the video helpful!
