    That “ 45 degree angle” cut is call 45 degree bevel homie. Not being a prick but an angle would be the cut of the fascia board at the rake. In the south with exposed fascia we have to use exterior screws. If not the hand drive nails will back out. Good job though 👍🏻

    Great. Watched this few times. A question for you. And maybe a video idea 😊. A section of my house has no rafter tails sticking out but does have the facia. Seems like they were nailed from top of roof. How do you replace these without messing up with the roof? Thanks!

  • @aldlt77
    @aldlt77 2 года назад +3

    Finally found a video that addresses my situation. My question is, how do you remove the existing rotted facia board from the rafter tails, starter board and flashing with damaging either of them? Thank you.

    • @zephyrguzman6462
      @zephyrguzman6462 2 года назад

      Wiggle back and forth. If it's got a bunch of nails in the fascia coming from the metal drip edge, you gotta get a pry bar and get under the fascia (hopefully you got no soffit). If you've got soffit, remove 2 boards the length of the fascia you're replacing so you have adequate space to work.

      you always add a couple of extra fascia for the waste , and the planks you remove and always add a couple of more planks.

    What happened to the drip edge?

  • @jeffwien6460
    @jeffwien6460 5 лет назад +2

    Is that plywood above the fascia rotted? I have always had a hard time getting fascia out when there is metal drip edge...the nails under the drip edge are hard to get out without bending the drip edge.

    • @neilvenuti1269
      @neilvenuti1269 4 года назад

      What's the secret so you're getting the nails out of the drip edge coming out.

    • @anonymoususer7663
      @anonymoususer7663 3 года назад

      True! Gotta straighten it back out. It's really hard to avoid bending the drip edge, just try to be careful not to knock nails back up through the roof, they have to be cut with a sawzall or one handed recip saw, but be careful not to cut your roof.
      Edit: his nailclipper actually looks better and easier to use for cutting the nails.

    10 minutes of 22 talking about the saw. If someone doesn't know how to use a saw or what blade to use, they should be hiring a contractor or handyman.

      lol true true but i like this guy in most videos

    • @justme-ij2qy
      @justme-ij2qy 3 года назад +6

      Every single contractor and handyman also had to learn the fine details. No amount of experience prevents anyone from learning new things so extra details are fine. You can always skip through a video, but if certain information is left out how can an inexperienced person find it? Inexperience does not mean incapable it simply means a lack of knowledge.

    • @dreddmann9292
      @dreddmann9292 2 года назад

      yeah you can always hire someone to do it if you don't want to learn, and you can always want to learn by trial and error. Sometimes you just have to learn on your own by watching how it's done and how it should not be done. But the only way to learn for yourself is to try to learn and do it yourself. That guy working with him is someone who is learning, I don't see anything wrong with someone wanting to learn. You must be the kind of person who likes to shit on people who don't know how to do something even when they are in the process of learning. Just cause your someone who already knows how to do it, doesn't make you a better person, in fact shitting on someone who is just learning just makes you an "asshole" about it. And that's it. Nobody likes an asshole cause an asshole is always full of shit. Even when that shit the asshole is saying is right, he still, we'll just an asshole.
