    Great video I have the same problem with fascia corners on our home it a good thing not at the top of home but bottom corners I think I have some scrap lumber & only thing I need to buy is primer & sealers + high grade out door house paint. I figure it might be a 2-4 hour job since I have one really bad some and 2 that might only need some minor sealer & repainting.

    The facia board resting on the roof probably contributed to rotting it?

    • @JonnyDIY
      @JonnyDIY  7 месяцев назад +1

      Possibly, but I doubt. It's not resting on it, the patio awning was build on after that room was built. Just age and sun rot, bad quality wood. The corners of your fascia board are always going to be the first to rot. Mostly from rain and water/dew dripping down to corner and getting into that joint where 2 meet

    • @rayaguirre4237
      @rayaguirre4237 4 месяца назад

      I agree with this comment. I would have notched the facia board where it comes close to resting on the roof to be sure it does not get any moisture. Why else would it have rot exactly there?

    Thanks! Everything is helpful and you had good fixes on the problems that arose. BUT... DON'T USE SILICONE ON ANYTHING BUT BATHROOMS!!!! As a professional painter, that stuff is the bane of my existence when DIYers use it on their trim or siding or windows or anywhere we have to work. Nothing sticks to silicone, not even new silicone. When it's time to repaint, that stuff has to be removed. Plus, clear doesn't mean invisible. It's best to use something like Quad OSI or QuadMax. Or if you want something with water clean-up, Big Stretch. Then paint it. And it's gone. Other than that, great video. Just don't use silicone. Ever.

      Correctamundo!

    • @MichaelRieck-i8g
      @MichaelRieck-i8g 2 месяца назад

      @@Rich3016 You could give that a try. Just make sure it's the paintable stuff. I haven't experimented with it any because those other caulks I mentioned do what we need them to do. I do wonder what they sacrifice when they make the silicone paintable.
