I used this as a guide for changing my pump on a 2003 explorer sport trac and it worked like a dream. Hoses are in just a little bit different spots, but overall its almost identical. Worked like a breeze. My shop quoted me $900ish to have it done. Cost me $178 for the pump from Rockauto. Thanks for the great video and saving me a bundle.
Thank you for your in depth removal. This video has really saved me some time, and made my job safer. Keep up the great video's. Also I like that you have links to other videos about cleaning and different types of fitting removal.
I have an 03 explorer and i did not notice that one of the bolts to back strap is directly above the drive shaft. How did you get to it without moving the drive shaft??
hi i have a question see if you could please help me with it... i have a 98 ford expedition.. and everytime i pass the 30 miles an hour it burn a big 30 fuse.. people telling me its some sensor in the transmission but dont know exacly the name of it.. do you have a idea what it could be? thank you very much.
First time I am try replacing this pump. I have remove it but the new one is different. The old one has only one electrical connector the short one in the new pump. The longer connector is not in the old pump. It seems to be already in the vehicle. How do I connected the long electrical connector or what do I eliminated to contact the new one.
I have a question about the straps. Upon taking the first strap nut loose, the bolt broke free and spins. I don't think there is a head on the bolt. How would you recommend taking it off?
***** I was thinking about taking a keyhole saw with a metal bit to saw it of slowly, but I will try the pliers idea first. And I will definitely put the hoses and fittings back on. Thanks for your advice. : ) Airtex are the fuel pump experts.
Do you think I should change the pressure sensor while I have the tank off my pump seems to be working intermittently it originally started after we would pump gas in it it wouldn't want to start after then it shut down on me at a stop light and it wouldn't start until the truck was cold after it warms up it shuts down I did manage to check the pressure when it is running at it was normal until it shuts down
Strap bolt broke free, had to grind it off. You skipped the tank removal itself, you just went straight to a picture of it being lowered. I have no room to go forward backwards left or right to maneuver the tank out it out. I'm selling this piece of crap. every line, hose or connection end on this whole operation is different.

Bolt extractor
Is it a 7 or 8 connector ?
fuel pump costs: 50 dollars labor costs: over 9000. Thank you "engineers"
You missed a vent that gets caught on the body located at the top front of the tank. Fought with one for 2 hrs to try to get it out.
How were you able to get passed that vent? Just hit that step and got stuck, wondering if I have to drop the back end of the tank some more.
. I had to go back up after unplugging , it was a ordeal! Little guard on cross member gave me hell! Cut it off before I put tank back.
It was good video
Is that very last part necessary? Cuz I dont have a fuel pressure gauge
You would be surprised you wont find any spanners wrenches in stock anywhere =( have to order them.
Curious, is it really a necessity, or do you think could it be loosened by a couple guys with gloves on?
Thanks for the video, in the explorer 2001 limited the fuel pumps is tank dento? How do I know if the pump is in trouble? Thank you!
one of my strap bolts are rusted frozen any ideas to get it loose or broken
Hit it with a dead blow hammer.
Do you think I should change the pressure sensor while I have the tank off

Ok thank you! if there was a problem with the pressure sensor wouldn't it's give me a code?
