A week and a half in taking Wellbutrin and I almost broke down yesterday at work because everything is so fucking different now. I don’t even know how to describe it but it’s like the world is a little bit brighter, my mind is calmer, thoughts are more organized and clear. I can knock out tasks at work and not feel like crashing out when multiple crises are going on at the same time. I’m a more focused, unshakable, happier me. It’s like starting a whole new life at 25.

The only way I could cope was to do absolutely nothing, I was paralyzed! Oh, and eating helped some, b/c it was an escape. And since I have been on Effexor and Wellbutrin, I haven't binged on food. Never knew what life was like without the consistent negativity and harsh self judgement. Less overthinking and self blame. I’d say that if you’re depressed and have anxiety, it’s worth feeling a bit anxious rather than depressed IMO

I'm so happy for you Maddie 😊, I've been on Wellbutrin for years. My Neurologist put me on it for extreme fatigue due to a condition, and not having the energy to accomplish anything due to fatigue was more depressing.
Wellbutrin is the only antidepressant I could take, I had reactions to all of the others.
Sometimes I don't really think about eating, and I wonder if not eating enough can cause shakiness, so I try to eat six small meals, every few hours helps.
I keep coffee to two cups.

I dealt with social anxiety and weight gain, as well as loss of confidence due to the weight gain from previous anxiety medications I was on. I spoke with my doc regarding my desire to lessen the pill burden and inquired about wellbutrin. Its been a couple days of being on it so far I feel alright, my energy has increased which has helped tremendously with my fitness journey. Anxiety wise I don’t feel too much of an impact but Ive been told it takes weeks for it to fully take effect. Hopefully I can draw back on other medications to just being on wellbutrin to manage my mental health.

The major problem with Wellbutrin is just how activating it can be to start. Too activating for some. I took it for 3 days and that was enough. Made me feel like a drank 5 cups of coffee with all the caffeine to go with that. Jitters and anxiety off the charts. I think it and Prozac are the most activating among the anti depressants. As always consult your doctor. There are differences between antidepressants in terms of side effects.

@@MaddieJay Bupropion acts as a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor and a nicotinic receptor antagonist.[12] However, its effects on dopamine are weak.
smoking still hits me and without this im really tired. norepinephrine is a wakefulness agent, at 300mg+ it causes pupil dilation, it's an addictive drug, your metabolism will shut down a little bit and more blood goes to your muscles. 300+ mg gives you a seizure once every other year so I only take 150mg, im 80+-kg bodyweight, use this as an addition to esci as well. works great for tiredness, kicks in only after 5 hours, so take it in the morning and never after 12pm, if you have ADHD, stimulants may work the other way. Coffee increases alertness and effectiveness as well when both combined, the dopaminergic effect (motivational boost) is only apparent the first two weeks.

Wellbute has been a life changer for me! Been on it for a few years, got through the jitters, typically where people usually give up on it.
In many ways the fact that I'm on it has faded into the background....I often forget that I'm taking it until I remember how bad the depression and my thinking used to be.
Much more effective than SSRIs, it hasn't dulled my emotions.

I'm really glad to hear you had a positive experience! I also agree, the SSRI's unfortunately didn't have any positive impact on me

If I knew for sure anti-depressant meds didn't cause side effects ( male e.d., weight again, etc ) I would be all over this and would pay for a psychiatrist visit.

    I'm on 150...
    Depression.
    The change is significant.
Left my keys in the office and without Wellbutrin I would have panicked, raged and sank.
Was also able to host a Zoom meeting with a clear train of thought.
Yeah this is definitely helpful. Your experience is very similar to mine. Like you said solid baseline.
And yes. Much less severe spiralling and better reasoning.

This is so fucking stupid, meds are for people who are clinically depressed. Not people who are in a rut and just need a bit more routine. I rode off the "perfect routine bs" for a year and a half after getting sober but if i still feel like shit and cant work im going to look towards medication and therapy
