- In the foothills of southern Shenandoah National Park lies Waynesboro, a town which offers a variety of activities and sights for the intrepid traveler. If you enjoy small stream dry fly fishing for naturally reproducing native brook trout, you can’t beat the Southern Appalachian streams cascading off of the mountions of Shenandoah as well as George Washington National Forest. For history buffs, Waynesboro represents our frontier past as well as the site of a pivitol Civil War battle. If your into late 19th and early 20th century commercial and residential architecture, downtown Waynesboro has you covered. As always, please take take some time away from fishing to walk around town to browse the various small businesses and restaurants. Please join me today for our 3rd Trout Town, in Waynesboro Virginia.

I live in Waynesboro. It's a lovely quiet city. And I love my mountain view from my front door.
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay!
We do have a little slice of heaven here in these hills
Agreed! Big fan of Waynesboro. Great location.
@@TravelingTroutCo I hope we have some rain before your next trip so you have more to fish in.
The best fishing in these creeks and rivers is usually early spring. If it's warm enough, the end to March into April is best because there will be more water from the melted snow saturating the water table coming down from the mountains those rivers in Shenandoah National Park. I grew up on Mt. Torrey road (road taking you from Waynesboro to SNP)
There's also some really good fishing on the other side of the mountain too. Beautiful waterfalls and much bigger rivers to fish through. Highly recommend you check out spots in Nelson County out if/when you come back through Waynesboro.
There's a really nice waterfall (Crabtree Falls) that flows into the Tye river which leads to the James. Beautiful country and much more opportunity to fish deeper and use your waders lol.
Great content and I invite you to come back and see a lot more of the northern tip of Appalachia
love seeing my hometown get some attention
it deserves attention .. awesome place
Cant wait for the next one bro
I'm trying my bro, I'm trying...
Love the vids and the new trout towns series, but that situation with the bees does sound scary I can’t lie
Thanks man appreciate it! And yes, it was a terrifying situation honestly, wasn't sure I was going to make it.
Beautiful! Thank you!
Thank you!
Great video. Maybe do Oakland, MD. Close to the Yough, Little Yough, North branch of the Potomac, Savage and Casselman rivers. Countless brookie streams too.
I'm not familiar with Oakland, but I'll take a look, thanks! Was maybe thinking Cumberland, Maryland (approx. an hour from North Branch and Savage).
@@TravelingTroutCo Cumberland makes sense. I don't know anything about architecture but it seems to have lots of interesting building designs.
I’m new here and it’s probably already been asked and I’m too lazy to sift thru all the comments, but why doesn’t he show his face or say who he is? It does such an amazing job with these videos. Not only the fishing but all the towns history. Really good videos.
Thanks for your kind words. It's honestly just all about maintaining anonymity. I don't have any social media aside from this channel. My personality is such that I'd hate to be recognized while out on a stream. I love fishing, history, and architecture so I genuinely enjoy this process, but I'm not doing it for personal attention or whatever. Anyways, thanks for taking time to check out the videos, appreciate it.
Thanks for the videos. I just returned from a 3-day fly fishing trip to north-central PA where I was able to explore many of the forests you mentioned. Your videos are an excellent source for info. My in-laws live in Mechanicsburg, so we travel up to PA a couple of times a year from our home in Eastern NC.
Thank you sir! My wife and I are actually heading to Bryson City NC this summer and I plan to try a few of the local Smokies/Nantahala streams. Glad you were able to see North Central PA (albeit water levels have been abnormally low). That's my personal favorite place to fish. Cheers!

I enjoyed your video of a local town... if I may offer a suggestion it would be to invest in a stabilizer for your camera for the walking shots. The prices have dropped greatly from what they once were and would make for an improvement to your already very nice videos. Thank you!
Agreed. The first few videos are super shaky. I think I found a setting on my GoPro to alleviate the issue. If not, I'll definitely get a stabilizer. Should make all the difference. Thanks for the suggestion, appreciate it!
Why use a Charlottesville Trout stream, the NF Moorman’s River to highlight Waynesboro?
You evidently don’t know where to best access the NF Moorman’s, look at a map
@@Midnighthacker951 so how does even that make it a Waynesboro Trout stream is the question?
I well know all the ways in and out of the NF Moorman’s too,
What was name of the second stream you fished? Thx.
Hi. Enjoy your trout fishing videos. Trout Town suggestion: Coudersport and Wellsboro.
It's funny you mentioned those two as they are 100% on my list.
Most Likely a northern water snake or banded water snake harmless but are a lot more aggressive if you mess with them nice Brook trout dude ever try bow casting in some of those little holes
I looked it up later and it was definitely a northern water snake.
I was wondering if you could let me know what stream you were fishing or where you parked to hike in GWNF .
you should do Valley forge or allentown sometime
I have Allentown on my list for sure! As for Valley Forge, I know Valley Creek would be main stream, but am not familiar with any other streams in the area - any idea?
If you get the chance do Bozeman montana
That's definitely in my top 5 to eventually get to someday.
Tyronne or Altoona PA
For Altoona, would it be Yellow Creek, the Little J or another stream?
