Just when i thought i was going to blow it for my daughter and nephew this past weekend at one of my favorite spots. We were using a tried and true lure but nothing wanted to commit. I threw on the creekhopper grasshopper and my daughter and nephew, within 8 casts landed 6 small bass and a big crappie! Thanx for your channel when it comes to different lures. GOD BLESS
You should come to the Rivanna Reservoir here in Charlottesville VA. You can put in at the damn and fish the Reservoir... go up it and it'll fork into Ivy creek and the Rivanna river. Or you could put in below the damn and just fish the river. It goes for miles and mile and miles. So many options with a kayak. I recently started watching your content and I love it. Keep catching em man!
Have you fished downriver closer to the James?
One of my favorite fishing rivers! Went to school at Emory and Henry. Spent many a day (missing class) fishing that river!

Hell far, I live near the north folk river never knew you came down there till now you should try south holston lake me and my uncle fish up there in the spring for crappie caught a lot of 14 to 16 inch crappies even walleyes long as your leg roam the lake good spot to fish another great place for big small mouth and bass and crappie is Alvarado river

You should have fished the river going down the mountain. Great trout waters dude. That is a great small mouth lake but it's even better trout waters. They stock that stream 4 times a week with trout. You were only about a hour or so away from Blue Springs and Cedar Spring trophy trout waters 5lb. or bigger trout.
Great video John , I have lived in Virginia my whole life and never caught a smallmouth but I live on the coast.I spent most of my life saltwater fishing and then a friend introduced me to bass fishing,now I mostly fish fish for bass that was 20 years ago.
The closest for SMB for you would probably be the James above Richmond.

You should come to WV and fish the south branch of the Potomac river. They have some really good small mouth fishing there.
My stomping grounds the home team. went out on the north fork today caught 1 20 in and 2 at 18 in and 1 at 17 and a 16 and half, along with 5 that where about 14in and 15 dinks. rock bass and blue gill too. smallmouth out of the north fork holston are super strong if you dont know.

I had a familiar experience with a bass with hooks in her jaws but not from the back, she was 7 pounds N had a white eye on her left and two worm hooks rusted in her jaws with braided line on it so I took the hooks out and released her and namned her warrior, she was awesome lookin and she was also a small mouth, love the video cfa keep fishin dude🎣🎣🎣

congrats on finally hitting va- you still got to get to the Shenandoah but you do need to scout it out since water levels can vary - do not eat those fish - lots of bad contamination in some of these places so be careful what and where you consume fish - it could be why the fishing is so good though.... #mallory battery plant #pcb #dioxins

It's a hellgramite lure it's made by this company out of Japan ... Use on a Shakey head set-up they are deadly .

@Creek Fishing Adentures You asked a couple vids ago where you should go in future months -- my vote is a collaboration with @NDYakAngler, another smallmouth specialist -- he fishes an awesome river in Minnesota, some to some PIG smallmouth -- it's a damn long trip from where you are, so you might as well kill two birds with one stone, so if you were coming through Iowa you could colab with @River Certified and he can put you on some heavy flathead SLOBS :) If it doesn't work out this season, keep em in mind for next year. Just my 2 cents!

Yes sir..no better place to be in my opinion. As a kid growing up I always thought I wanted to get away from here but now you couldn't pay me to live anywhere else.

The biggest smallmouth in my life was caught at that lake my dad and brother was in canoe with me they were fishing towards the bank I instead fished straight down it was huge about 6 pounds and 22 inches long
