You might consider stopping when they hit and miss the top water . Let it sit a little bit and wiggle your rod tip and make the bait tremble. See if that increases your hook up. God bless you and keep you safe.

Smallmouth fishing is awesome! Great fighters! Here in ohio there is many creeks and rivers to chose from. I just picked on one those reels. I like my kast king spinning reels. They are holding up well so far. I generally go for catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and an occasional striper or wiper. Great video!

My goodness! You catch more fish by accident than I do on purpose! LOL! You're a Rebel man, you should try the Pop-R top water lure. It's worked for me in the past.

My next question is though why do you use a net with a woven bag instead of a plastic bag? I’ve heard plastic bags are better for the fish and they don’t tangle your lures. Just a thought

You should try giving it more pauses. I always have more luck when I pause prop baits

usually going upstream, but if using a lure like a swimbait going downstream seems better
