The manual recommends that you drive the jeep forward very slowly while shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. You want the gears to be moving past each other so the servo isn't trying to push them into each other if the teeth are lined up (you can damage the servo or the transmission gears). I think that's probably why they put a little bit of slop/flex in the shifting servo mount so that it can give a little bit until the gears slip past each other and it slots into gear.
What I love about your new RC videos is that you actually take the truck apart. It helps us to understand potential strong and weak points and what it'll take to maintain it. Not just a running video and mentioning it's features. Amazing rig, and awesome job on the video 👌
It takes a lot of extra time to tare down the cars, but I feel it's important that people get to see what's inside before they spend their hard earned money on something. Even if it helps just a few people, I'm happy to do it. Thanks for watching!!
For $1000, you would think you could open a door or 2 and have a decent Scale interior. While I am sure it is nice, and fun to drive, it is a lot of dough for something you can't put a action figure in. I have 2 of the Rochobby 1/6th Jeeps and they are a lot of fun and super scale for less than 1/3 of the price. Not really sure what Axial is going for in this class.
@@michaelmowbray4360 I agree it has a better drive train and some features. But wow 1100 and no scale interior. I also think it is unstable turning and top heavy from what I see in the videos. I like my Jeeps. Great points in your comment by the way. We all have to decide what toy is right for us.
I think once you add up all the upgrades and things we do to our 1/10 it’s around the same if not less. I guess the only issue is you are spending $1100 all at once.
Reading the comments on this comment I think I'm the only one who understands this, and yes it's beautiful, I whish I had a rig like him although I like the Mojave more.......

Good video Greg, very informitive. I've just added the Trail Honcho to our fleet. Thanks to you (Scale Builders Guild & Harley Designs) for the Axial content. Very informitive.
Just bought one, or a least paid for it. Gonna have the first green one from my local hobby shop. Wanted to buy the display model. They can’t release the Jeep until the actual public sale date. Also sold a couple of rigs to make room. It looks impressive in person with the 10th and the 24th stacked on top.
Same, I like jeeps, don’t get me wrong, but I’d like to see some more diversity in RTR bodies. I love the TRX-4 blazer and bronco bodies. I’d love some more newer Japanese trucks/SUV’s though.
@@Felix_A_ It all comes down to what is easily licensed, or in some cases modified to get by a license. Jeep has always been easy to license because its just free publicity for them, and they've had jeep licensed "toys" since jeep was around.
Hi! Very nice! Can you hear that "Tok - Tok" from the Boulders knocking on the pumpkin cover? 🤔 ... It should be made of metal... 25(?)Pound over all is a lot of mass!!! Have a nice day! 😎
Awesome rig I can’t wait to get one! Love the way it moves. For everyone complaining about price the XMaxx is all most the same and you have to buy 2 4s batteries to go with it to make it run which makes it cost even more. At lest this runs on one 3s pack that everyone already has if you been in the hobby. It also comes with a brushless sensor motor. For what this all comes with it is priced right.
I don't see this gaining a lot of traction outside of RUclips, at $800 I think it would have rocked the market, but $1100 is tough. I don't think the increase in scale really adds to the crawling experience in the same way that the Xmaxx scale adds to the bashing experience.
I got the green one yesterday and it's so much better then you would think. It's a beast. Been crawling for 10 years and this makes me put some of my 10th scale up for sale. Took it on a 5.5 mile trial ride and it made it on one 7500 mah 3s. It is expensive but once on the trail you will forget about that. Honestly most 10th scale get to be more expensive then that once they are all done up.
@@BIGGBULLxxx You will like it for sure. When you first open the box and realize how big it really is its shocking. It just looks so much more scale in my opinion with how it moves since it's so heavy. Good luck with it 👍

Here's a comparison with a full-size counterpart, such as the TNT T-Rex Jeep JK (with 43 inch tires and a 121 inch stretched wheelbase).
Width: 86" / 14.88" = 5.78 scale
Length: 182" / 33.55" = 5.42 scale
Height: 81" / 14.55" = 5.57 scale
Wheelbase: 121" / 19.74" = 6.13 scale
Weight: 6000 lbs / 25 lbs = 6.21 scale
Tire height: 43.1" / 7.0" = 6.16 scale
Rim diameter: 20" / 3.2" = 6.25 scale
