I just ordered the grey one myself tonight after watching your video you are always causing me to spend money on these cool RC's because you do such a great job reviewing these rc's and showing how they work .....great info great knowledge of rc's from you!!! your footage of them out in those great settings you have to crawl at is perfect and beautiful.....im in south Louisiana all we have is flat ground lol again great JOB on the reviews and run videos.... yea 500 is steep for them not to throw in a 4 channel radio and make the two speed transmission work in the RTR jeep ....but its still a cool RC Jeep
Thanks. I’m not upset it doesn’t have a 4 channel radio. I mentioned in my SCX10III kit review that I’d probably get rid of the dig servo. They needed to hit a price point and still make this truck easy for noobs to handle. It’s a good rig that drivers can grow into. 😀
RCDriver_Online indeed I love axial products. I’m just going to upgrade mine with 5 channel and servo for 2 speed trans. Keep up the great reviews and run footage. Love ❤️ watching ur channel
According to Rich Trujillo, the RTR and kit are identical except for the electroncs. The RTR is set up with all the parts to make a 2 speed or dig but is locked in low range out of the box.
The only way I would like it better is if it came in that sweet metallic orange you painted for the kit version. Nice RTR though. The market keeps improving on them.
I find it amusing to see that the new Axial scx10.3 looks like an evolved Tamiya CC01 tub chassis whereas the Tamiya CC02 looks like a simplified scx10 chassis layout. Im a fan of both brands and use Tamiya bodies and interiors on Axial chassis. I like the sliding rails to adjust wheelbase but look forward to adjustable track/axle widths too to fit true 1/10 scale trucks. This would make a lot of fans of both brands really happy without needing to swap/mod axles from others and encourage the continued growth of the scale crawling hobby
do you know if you can use a engine sound box on this jeep? i had the scx 2 and took my sound box out of that and tried to put it in my new scx10 3 jeep and it doesnt seem to have a spot on the reciever for it to work, this sure does take away 50% of the fun, dont understand why this company wouldnt havr thought about this, its crazy.
Greg??? Did you work at a hobby shop in Connecticut? I used to go there all the time and you and the owner were very cool even with my crazy rc ideas! I am Brian though I doubt you’d remember me.
Amazing that the TRX-4 RTR includes two more servos, separate ESC/RX, and a 4-channel TX for $30 less (Defender, MSRP). Sure, the SCX10.3 has an interior, roll cage, and better exterior details, but is that a good trade-off? The SCX10.3 has DIG, but the TRX-4 has a 2-speed that actually makes sense. I really want to like this RTR, but it's hard to ignore the value proposition.
Beautiful truck. But personally I'm glad I didnt wait for it because I still feel like my gen 8 axe was a better deal. For the price of 499 just getting a dig transmission isnt worth it to me. Plus you get a way better radio with the gen 8 axe.
It was one of the best presentations about this truck that I have found so far. Totally, Do you recommend this toy to buy based on price and quality? Thank you for sharing that with us.
Awesome review but... How does it compare with the competition? Trx4 Sport has been for a while praised by all...is this a step up...or to the side? Cheers and keep up the good work
VS this sport, this vehicle has a licensed body that is very well detailed, complete with an interior. It also has a dig feature that the Sport does not. Because of the lighter body, the Sport will offer better crawling performance in most, if not all measurable categories.
The sport is also a 150$ less and has better stock tires. Yet they are glued to plastic rims meaning once they're shot you will be looking for tires and rims where this axial has bead lock rims, which can be reused for new tires. Going with what Ryan said the sport will have a performance boost from its lighter shell but that shell is lighter only because its just a plain lexan body with no extras or details. If you add the extras to the sport shell like the expedition rack, rearview mirrors, snorkel, headlights, tail lights, roof light bar etc. ,it'll be just as heavy. So kind of apples and oranges comparison. If you want that sweet scale detail look you will have to deal with extra top weight either way.

I'm sorry but this review tells me that you cater to Horizon to get their vehicle's for free. You say it is the best...it's NOT. I love this chassis and the body, but they cut this RTR version short and put it at a $500 price point?? No. You're not going to offer a 4Ch vehicle and provide a 3ch proprietary electronics system. Makes no sense at all. One cannot even make this vehicle work at 4 channels with what they provide in this kit. Then to omly offer a simple $15.00 brushed motor....come on. Also, don't forget that you cannot even run your steering servo at 7.4v...no feature available to up the voltage. Im sorry, but this RTR is not what I'd call a great kit or even a good kit. I'm sorry if you disagree, but Horizon sacrificed huge on this rtr and it wasn't well thought out. You cannot upgrade without throwing the radio, esc/ receiver and motor in the trash can and starting over with an entirely different electronic setup.
For the price axial/horizon are asking for this $500 USD or $899 for us here in Australia my money will still have to go to Traxxas and the TRX4. It’s just unbelievable that axial will ask the same price as the TRX4 premium version ie: Defender, Bronco, Blazer, Tactical and G500 that has remote locking differentials front and rear, 2 speed transmission, easier modifiable electronics and a proven bullet proof drive train. Before you get upset “Axial die hards” I am “NOT” saying this is a bad rig at at all. On the contrary the Body, wheels and tires along with the little extra details axial have included in this package are really great, but are just not worth the price Axial/horizon are asking. I don’t know how wages work in America but here In Australia $899 or Over $1000 if you need a charger and some lipo batteries is pretty much1 weeks wage for the average hard working person here Aus so it is not chump change as I can imagine would be the same in The States. So people spending this amount of money need to make the right informed decision and as I said Earlier “Strictly My opinion only” from my perspective the Traxxas TRX4 is just better value. I would buy the axial jeep if it was $200 less because at that price point it makes up for its deficiencies. Happy crawling and stay safe to all. Cheers.

Where did I say it was the best? 🤔

Cheers.
@@mikesrcreviewchannel3685you said it PERFECTLY brother, and over here in the states I'm not buying that just not worth it read hkguy #1 REVIEW as well,he clearly isn't saying the truth bc he wants free items from horizon and doesn't wanna burn that bridge, but a lil kid will save all his allowance money,Christmas money for 7 MONTHS watch this REVIEW and bc he believes this guy will buy this AXIAL bc this guy says it great,he does VIDEOS for redcat, loves horizon,he's a doorknob all the brands get a turn
i am a new r.c enthusiast.. would this be a good rig to start with?
Ive been in & out of the hobby for 15 yrs and if i was starting out I would buy a cheaper rig first just to see if you will like trail trucks. You may like faster trucks better or crawling and trailing may be your thing. Never know till you try it out 👍 Axial,Traxxas,Associated,Redcat and Losi all make crawlers & trail trucks
No this thing is expensive and has crap electronics
