    After 5 minutes of smoking it got annoying? Dude I think your missing the point. Cigar smoking is not a race. Your not trying to get it over with and move on to the next thing. So many people today don't understand the concept of relaxing. Life is short, take some time to sit down next to a window, light a cigar along with your favorite liquor or beer. Take a minute to clear your head. Think about how special and lucky you are to enjoy that moment. You gotta to learn to relax. It's a skill. Its an internal thought process that literally benefits your organs.. Good luck

      ur so right! i often find myself thinking about alot of things that went on with my day while i enjoy my favorite stick....it gives me time to stop and really think about the decisions i have to make everyday...they do make smaller sized cigars like toros robustos and even nubs that dont require alot of time to smoke

      +NFSISOFFICIAL the definition of "fine" cigar or better yet, "premium" cigars is very specific..." premium cigars, are crafted by hand of 100% natural tobacco leaf from tobacco fields..." meaning this guys cigars are in a sense "fine" cigars. There's a but here, the cigars he has in his humidor are not the best. A little dirty secret in the industry is that some companies, and I will not say which companies, sell the name rights of a cigar to an on line retail shop. The online retailer can then put the a band with whatever companies logo on any stick and say that is made by whatever company. There are two cigar companies who this, can guess who they are? Just go and look up an online catalog and see what brands pop out. I have been in the cigar biz for over 10 years now. Been smoking over 15 years and this is something the online retailers don't want you to know. You buy an XYZ cigar from them, but the only thing you are buying is the label that says XYZ but getting cigar made by God knows who. Now, this is not true for all cigars just a few.

    A cigar is a "moment in time". You have to think out "when" you are going to take that moment. For "me", I like to take that time and reflect on the good things that have transpired in life and look forward to what other good things I could do for humanity. Obviously, this pastime is not for every one. It takes patience. If you do not have the patience for this, then it is not for you.

    I guess it really is just a difference in preferences. I enjoy smoking a good 40 to 90 minute smoker and part of that enjoyment comes from the ritualized process of it. Getting a good spot to lounge about in the yard, preparing a nice cold drink, pulling out a fresh stick with a good scent to it, cutting, lighting, and finally smoking it. The entire process just calms me down. I notice a lot of cigarette smokers get that craving kind of behavior and just rush so the get the nicotine fix, but a good cigar is a slow process. It is not meant to be work but rather something to do that refocuses your mind.But different smokes for different folks I guess.

    I just bought my first humidor and started gathering finer cigars to put in it. I've always enjoyed the hobby but ive always had to just buy cigars one at a time since I never was able to store them. I smoke 1-2 cigars a week and greatly enjoy the all of the different flavors and aromas you can find among the different cigars out there. The amount of time it takes to smoke one of these is something you have to get used to, but you learn to appreciate it, and learn to sit back and relax and enjoy the view and experience. It's a shame that people aren't always into this hobby, but like you said it isn't for everyone.Cheers

    Trouble with smoking cigars nowadays is that unless you allow smoking in your home (and my girlfriend put a stop to that!), they can be hard to finish, because as you say, they last an hour and a half. Back in the 70's you could have smoked it on the train, at work, in the pub etc, all without even having to put it out. I love a good cigar, but I've had the same problem - I'm smoking it outside the front door, the party's going on inside and eventually I just get bored!

    The investment in time is often an issue with cigars. I found that the smaller or shorter cigars solve this issue. Also, they tend to concentrate the flavor, and they have a reduced spent stage during the smoking process. The only drawbacks are that the smoke tends to be hotter, and your friends wonder why you are smoking a small cigar.

    When people see me smoking a cigar and ask if I inhale I tell them only half the time, the rest of the time I exhale.
    I'm not only a cigar smoker I'm also a pipe smoker with probably 3 dozen pipes. A friend of mine who is a non-smoker retired and decided he was going to smoke a pipe, why I don't really know. He just gave me the three pipes and about a half pound of different pipe tobacco's he'd purchased, decided he didn't like smoking. Why anyone who doesn't smoke would start these days I'm unsure.

  • @DannoCrutch

    Haven't you smoked some cigars since this video? I think we appreciate them more when we smoke less. I've smoked cigars for almost 40 years. Pipes, almost as long. I gravitated to Petit Coronas in the cigar realm. Same thing, the larger formats did get too laborious to sit through although, I do still smoke one occasionally if in a social setting. Every hobby I've ever had still holds my interest. Only thing I still love, but don't do anymore is keeping an Aquarium. It just became too much work after I got married and had to prioritize my family.

      Jeff Jagiello Yes! Nothing like it. I had to learn about that from a fellow named Ken True. I met him because he built aquariums but was also a Marine Biologist. Taught me a lot about feeding, products (at the time) etc. I kept Brackish fish so, Monos, Scats, Archers. Loved it!

      @jeffjagiello2991 9 лет назад

      Man that is super cool. I was into the marine aquariums and I have to say I killed more than I was able to keep alive. Best fish ever was the clown fish. I honestly stumbled across the cigar channel because my hobby is cologne making. And I just order a 5ml bottle of tobacco absolute. Since I have returned back to school I have learned how to steam distill plants and have been very intrigued with the tobacco scent. I wanted to learn more about rich cigar tobacco. Lol

    • @DannoCrutch
      @DannoCrutch 9 лет назад

      Jeff Jagiello That is too cool. I've smoked cigars and pipes almost 40 years. Nicaraguans always illicit positive comments from woman in my experience. Some smell incredibly nice. One that comes to mind that women always commented on was actually a budget nicaraguan made by Don Pepin Garcia. I have to wonder if what you're extracting smells like the prelight cigar, or how it smells burning. Assuming prelit.
      Pipe Tobaccos are different. You have cased (sugars and syrups added) and non cased. Then there is how it smell in the tin, unlit (Tin Note) and when smoking (Room Note) So many good ones in both arenas. If you want to get a good idea of what folks think of Pipe Tobacco Aromas go check out tobaccoreviews dot com. Also check out the RUclips Pipe Community (YTPC) Saluda!

    This may or may not have already been covered, I'm not about to read through over a thousand comments just to make sure though lol. But you must do three simple things in order for a Cigar to age correctly. #1. Take a most cloth and gently wipe the interior wood, otherwise the dry wood will absorb the moisture from the cigar. #2. Unwrap the Cigars so they can breath and properly humidify as intended. #3. Keep your humidor at a even 70%, in order to ensure the cigar is perfectly maintained. Enjoy

    Pogs, sometimes known as "milkcaps," are small cardboard discs that usually have some graphic or design on one side. There are also heavier plastic "slammer" discs. The smaller pogs are stacked and the slammer is thrown down on top of the pile which scatters the discs and flips some of them over. The unflipped pogs are restacked. Simple game with a collecting aspect, in the same vein as marbles.

    So just a tip to Cutlerlover, u are supposed to take the plastic wrapper off the cigars so they can age properly because the wrapper actually creates a barrier and makes it very hard for the humidity to reach the cigar, but thank you for the video and I'll check out the website. Goodluck

    • @boomdynamiteeightyseven5213
      @boomdynamiteeightyseven5213 10 лет назад +3

      Actually, cellophane is permeable, so it has no problems reaching a desirable humidity. Leaving the wrapper on somewhat keeps the flavors of all your cigars from fusing together. Although, it's perfectly fine to take them off. It's all a matter of preference.

      Cigar smoking is not that's kind of hobby that you just go out and buy a bunch of cigars stuff and start smoking. It's the kind of thing that you go out and you buy a cigar now and then and try different kind of cigars, Lite, medium, dark and see what you like the best. You also bought an inexpensive humidor and a bunch of cigars that you had no knowledge of what they're like .You had no one to really sit and talk with. It seems like you just sat by yourself and smoked a cigar which can be rather boring at first until you learned more about it. if you would of had a friend you might have had something to talk about along with smoking a cigar. You should toss that green foam thing out and get a Boveda pack to go in your humidor. Instead of waiting for friends to come over and let them smoke you should just find a good friend who smoke cigars and give them to him. He will know how to take care of them and he will enjoy them. Face it you're not into it so give them to somebody who will enjoy them. Save the humidor as a special place to put the special things in your life, you paid nothing for the humidor so it's not it's not a real loss. You'd be better off with a tupperware container and Boveda pack to keep your cigars in. Glass top humidors never seem to work out right. You be much better off giving them to a friend and letting him see what he likes in the bunch. You paid nothing for your humidor so you probably didn't get the world's greatest cigars in the first place. And please next time you fail at a hobby, keep it to yourself instead of putting it out on the internet. It just makes it seem like you're looking for something to make a video of. It might be a better idea to do a little research with your next hobby to see if you're really going to like it. Try it out before you start spending money on something you don't really know if you like it or not.......

    I was like this at first too. Honestly the cigars keep for a long time. If you enjoy it, do it when you feel like it, if not then let them sit. I've gone 6 months without having a stick,; and some months I'll do 2 a week, then won't touch one again for another month. Its there for when you want it.

    I understand your feeling completely. I've smoke cigarettes since 11, pipes at 22 and I never liked cigars much. At 48 years old (I am much older now) I started smoking cigars more often and I got hooked. I don't understand how it happened... was it a change of palate? I stopped smoking cigarettes completely which made me cough a lot and its basically inhaling flavorless hot smoke into your lungs. Now I love my cigars and keep them in my 3 humidors. Advise, if you want to keep your cigars and humidor, then please take the cellophane off but keep an eye on Temp and Humidification. Also, beginners sometimes are "put off" by smoking full body cigars instead of starting with mild ones.

    You should not feel sick with a cigar, if you do then you're inhaling. I don't smoke, but once a year I enjoy a quality cigar. I've found they are far more enjoyable if you have company. On your own they're ok, but with a friend it's a lot better. I think that's because you need to take a draw roughly every minute. A good conversation helps roll things along.

    hahah, omg pogs. All my allowance gone. I'm a smoker and do enjoy the hobby of keeping cigars but you're humble for not being a smoker and trying it out anyways. Some like it, some don't. Sucks you can't find your grand dads pipe and zipping, that would be an amazing thing to have and hold onto. Maybe one of these days they'll show up. You probably already know but if you're gunna keep those cigars around keep that puck (humidifier)filled with distilled water, not over saturated. And it's good to reseason the humidor every 6 months or so. And if you don't already know with the glass top humidors keep that thing out of sunlight or any harsh light in general.

    Generally when I'm smoking by myself and just relaxing on the porch I'll smoke a smaller size like 5"x50 or even a 3.5" long half corona. They last long enough to relax, but not so long that i feel like I'm wasting time. When I'm planning on being with friends though, that's when I'll break out something like a 7"x60 that will last me the whole time I'm there.

    I was a beginning cigar smoker at one time, and it's different than cigarette smoking. You don't inhale. Every cigar has little nuances, little flavor notes that are unique to each cigar, which varies by the region they came from and the types of tobacco used in the construcution of the cigar. Most cigars that I've found, that you buy online, are pretty good, but they're kind of generic. I've found that it's best to visit a cigar shop and ask about the cigars they stock, they can help you figure out which cigars are suited for your palette. Sorry this didn't work out for you, but to each their own.

    This video is a perfect example of what's wrong with the internet. Anyone can post anything on the internet and sucker some fool like me into watching it. There's 6:37 minutes of my life I've wasted and will never get back! Full of "sage" wisdom like "don't do something you really don't like" etc, etc. If you wanted to try out cigar smoking as a "hobby" (which as a cigar smoker of 20+ years, I don't understand. I've never considered cigar smoking a "hobby") why didn't you just go to a local cigar shop and buy one or two cigars before unloading $80.00 for something about which you were just exploring as a possible "hobby". If you want to learn to fly an airplane as a "hobby", go out and rent one before you buy one, unless you have money to burn!

    just so you know, fine cigars do not contain nicotine. Nicotine is found in the stem of a cigar leaf which is removed during the hand rolling process. What relaxed you was most likely the aroma or the stimulation the smoke provided.
    Nice collection though, sorry it didn't work out.

    @cutlerylover I think everyone has already said these are not what the cigar community would really consider "fine". It'd be like starting a knife collection with dollar store knives. There's nothing wrong with it, but you won't get the full experience and quality. Most of those cigars are factory manufactured. If you want a pleasant cigar then buy hand-rolled. My favorite is 'La Gloria Cubana' (around $10 per cigar)... Perhaps I may send you some to try.

    I've actually considered taking up pipe smoking. I hate the smell of cigarrettes, and I don't think I could possibly smoke a cigar because of how long they last; but I think I could light a pipe every now and then. My father actually found a glass pot pipe a few weeks ago. He didn't know what it was; but he picked it up because he liked the color pattern on it. I told my brother to make sure he got any trace of drugs out of the thing so he wouldn't get in trouble.

    well wine does turn after a while. but the way cigars work is depending on how long you age them affects the flavors. some tobacco can be aged for 15+ years before they are rolled into cigars. aged cigars usually have somewhat of a musty flavor, which some people really enjoy.aged cigars are almost always more expensive than younger cigars (depending on the blend) because of the man power it takes to keep up with monitoring the tobacco. aging cigars in your humidor is a little different.

  • @MontrealMx

    @Shaun Greig A humidor keeps an ideal inviroment for the cigars (70% humidity and under 70 degrees) most people use silicone beads that release a stable humidity.

    Start out with something very mild, something flavored if you are into that. A great cigar line for infused flavor is Acid brand. They go from very mild to robust. "Blondie" are one of my favorite infused cigars from them. They take about 30 minutes to smoke. A nice Romeo y Julieta Mild, has to be a nice one, has good flavor for a beginner. Like I said, go with something mild. Medium or Robust tend to have a "Burn" to it. Just like a finely aged liquor.

    It took me a while to understand that there is actually an incorrect way to light and smoke a cigar. Learning to "toast the foot" and puff gently & infrequently (thus not overheating the tobacco), changed my cigar smoking experience drastically. Sometimes a cigar that I know to be enjoyable just won't sit with me the right way on that day. There certainly is a learning curve as you try new brands and develop your taste. If you give cigars another shot, I hope you find it enjoyable.

    @RickyRozzay1 As Cuttlerylover said, the cellophane wrappers are very porous and I would add that is is advantageous to leave the cellophane on to protect the delicate outside wrapper of the cigar itself. Go into any good cigar shop and you will see cigars that have been on the shelf for a few years still in their wrappers.
