    This gun reminds me of my Grandfather. I asked him if he could buy me a handgun to keep at his place and just shoot it when I came down to the farm. He told me he would and shook my hand, then went out the door to get it. I was so stoked. I thought he was going to come back with a Ruger SR9 or Glock....something modern, but wouldn't break the bank. But no, he comes back with this gun chambered in .22. I was so bummed, but we ended up having tons of fun and quality time. I would give anything to put just one more round down range with him.

      Nate Rivera I have a hi standard victor 22 target pistol from my grandpa and it's one of my favorites. also got a few others from him. he bought some and also gave all his reloading equipment to me. I wish I had the chance to ever shoot with him.

    I have my dads single six from 1963 and Ruger installed the transfer bar and went through it and re blued it for FREE! Also I have a Blackhawk in 38/357/9mm.... love it. But I did sell that very gun , the vaquero in 38/357 last month. I never shot it. A safe queen ya might say. Enjoy that beauty and Ruger has great customer service. I can't say that enough.

    My last impulse buy was $650 and that old pre safety JM Marlin 1894 .44 Mag was well worth it. Bluing was near perfect and wood was original and in excellent condition. Always wanted one, back when they were going for $450-$500 used, I passed on a lot of them but they seem to keep climbing, some reaching the $1k mark. Gun I bought a month before that one was a Benelli SBE II and I definitely didn't think I was buying anything when I walked in. It was on sale, $1350 for a camo one and I couldn't pass that up either lmao. It's a sickness I tell ya

    Oh man, so you've got the bug too! A couple days ago I was looking into getting a Uberti Cattleman El Patron (another Single Action Army clone). But then I thought- No, I'd rather save up for the SHTF .50BMG AR15 upper. A five shot bolt action .50BMG for just under two grand just seems much more practical. I am of the opinion that every good American should own at least one anti-material rifle ;) Sadly the cowboy pistol will just have to wait in my case.

    As far as speed,I have seen many videos that prove the old style single action pistols can fire faster(three consecutive rounds fired) than contemporary 1911's. Still I would not own a gun that did not have both single and double action capabilities,purely for the fact I do not like being limited in options. They do make "Cowboy" type pistols that are single/double action but these tend to be very pricey and I am one cheap bastard!

    Any Ruger chambered in .357 will tolerate all the powerful .357 cartridges. The shortcoming is that this is a single action revolver. It is not a 'double action' gun and a GP100 and similar Rugers can be cocked both ways (single action and double action. The .357 chambered guns will fire .38+P shells, which are plenty to stop nearly any attacker and are more controllable than a .357 shell.

    I love you, Jeff, but in my humble opinion, single action revolvers are not viable options for home defense, regardless of what they are chambered for. The cool factor is off the charts... but you would be putting yourself at a huge disadvantage in relying on one for home defense over a modern semi-auto.

    • @jaythus3181
      @jaythus3181 7 лет назад

      Aidan McNerney if going for a live blade get a bear and sons for the 50 to 100 usd range or a bear ops for the 100 to 150 usd range. I assume you won't pay more than 150 usd if you are a beginner but if you do then most knives over 200 usd are good. I would suggest you go with a live blade because you learn quicker. If going for a trainer, go for a trainer model of the knives I mentioned. P.S. go with at least a 5 inch blade because you can't manipulate a 4 inch balisong as well. Also dont spend less than 50 usd on a balisong, anything cheaper is usually crap.
