I have a low and long cervix. The menstrual cup tends to ride up and cervix takes up all the space inside it. It’s also difficult to open the menstrual cup inside the vagina, it usually opens in the cervix. Any advice for me?
Thank you for your fantastic channel! I am very happy with my FemmyCycle LowCervix. It is possible to use when you have a low cervix but you need much volume. It is built in a different way, only the ring has to open, not the whole cup. It opens, when it gets full. It is not as big as it looks like. It can happen, that I have to wait a while and press a bit when I want to get it out after I stand up in the morning. Because my cervix is a bit higher then and/or sometimes it looks backwards and so does the cup. If it looks backwards, it can be really tricky to catch this ring to put it out, but it workes. You really need this ring on the bottom to put it out, never cut it! You can't hold it without this ring! There is also a sice for teens, and two sices they call "Regular" and "HighCervix".
I was using the Diva Cup for a year or so and loved it. LIKE LOVED IT. The world finally felt beautiful when I was having my period. BUT after a year I took it out in the shower to empty and clean up and I also fainted when I felt something protruding out of my vaginal cavity. After going to the doctor, I found out that my cervix had prolapsed. My gyno was surprised because I’m 25 and in good shape and I’m very healthy. And I suggested that maybe it was the suction of my menstrual cup that caused the prolapse? She said she’d never heard of that before and didn’t think it was possible. I WAS RELIEVED. Because once you start the cup you don’t EVER want to stop. So, I went back to using it and low and behold it happened AGAIN. I tried contacting Diva Cup to ask about the issue and they never responded. Months later now, I’ve had no choice but to go back to organic cotton tampons. It still pains me to think about it. I miss my cup SO BADLY. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Cuz I’m not about to have my period for another 20 years using tampons. Is there a cup you recommend that doesn’t have a VERY strong suction?
That is very strange and I've not heard of this happen before. Maybe cervix prolapse for some other reason and using cups will make it worse.. softer cup you can try www.sochgreen.com but I'm not sure if cups are for you. Have you considered period panty ?
Linnan Lin i highly suggest nixit!! it’s a period cup but it’s shaped more like a disc and it has 0 suction involved. i think it would really help!! :)
I'm so sorry to hear that you've suffered from prolapse. I read about it while using my menstrual cup during my first cycle and it definitely spooked me. Apparently it's the way you remove the cup, making sure you break the suction and not dragging the cup down. It's a little concerning that your doctor wasn't aware that the suction of the cup may have caused the prolapse to occur. Have you talked to a gynaecologist about it? I hope you're doing okay now xx
I would like to ask how you *remove* the cup. When you have a cup with a stem/ring it's very tempting to just pull it out by force, but it is *very* important you break the suction of the cup first. There have been reports of prolapse in other women using a menstrual cup... but every single one of those women was using the cup incorrectly and not breaking the suction seal when they removed it. The reason your gyno said it wouldn't be caused by the cup is because it wouldn't be caused by a cup which was being used correctly. A gyno would hear "i used a menstrual cup" and assume you put a cup in your vagina, collect blood, break the seal, take the cup out, and then flush the blood down the toilet. They would not assume you meant that you yank down on your cervix using a vacuum sealed handle and probably a couple pounds of force. Multiple times a day. For a week of every month. For *years* in a row.
