    One jerkbait that has stood out to me just lately is a Duo Realis 120. In Ozarks super clear water, the ghost shad color has been wrecking em for me. I'm even getting huge crappie to full on T-bone that 120. Crappie, walleye, smallies and dark bass...when the 110 isn't working, I've put the DR on and have been shocked to drill em in the exact water just fished with no bites with a 110. Anyhow, Happy Friday!

    Southern Utah starting to heat up, was at Lake Powell this week, absolutely CRUSHED em on a 110, Threadfin Shad color. Had a channel cat smoke my 110 in 25 feet of water, probably the craziest thing I've ever seen bass fishing. Would be awesome to see a Powell or Lake Mead trip from the guys, especially now that we had a good winter and the lakes are gonna rise quite a bit. Water was 60-65, but couldn't buy a bite in the muddy water up lake, had to have a couple feet of visibility down south or in the backs of canyons.

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  Год назад +1

      Honestly, more sensitive gear is key. Those fish shouldn't be gut hooked if you feel the bite and set. This is one of those times where a more sensitive rod may actually save the fish you're catching.
      If a more sensitive rod isn't in the budget, a switch to braided line will increase the sensitivity of any rod dramatically.

    DARK SLEEPER Question: What are your thoughts on cutting off the dorsal fin from the dark sleeper to increase hook up ratio? I rarely snag up on Lake St. Clait so I figure removing it won't be an issue. I bought a few dark sleepers this off season and have yet to use them. I don't see the power of the dark sleeper rod on TW. Would you have it's a medium heavy? Would spinning work?

      @@keenanmoore264 id just go with a medium fast rod, 10-12 lb fluoro. A medium heavy would probably be too much power and not enough bend, unless you can find a medium heavy moderate. st croix makes a great medium heavy moderate in the bass x lineup that would probably work well with the 3 inch. they have stout hooks but the hook is also pretty small. Its pretty similar to fishing a finesse jig without a weed guard. You need a rod with some backbone but also a good amount of bend to keep that half oz weight pinned when they try and spit it out. having the right rod is pretty crucial, just like it is when fishing a finesse jig.

    I want to love the dark sleeper but they get hung up so easily, the plastic isn't very durable and they get thrown very easily for me :(

      For a dropshot I like 6-10" off the bottom.

    I found on those finesse heads, if the swimbait is not rigged completely perfectly the bait rides to the side and looks stupid

      It happens but the fish don't care at all. Keep casting until the fish shred that thing into pieces 👍🏼

      Myself I find the more beat up and chewed up the better the bait works I have seen people who will land one fish and have one chip of paint and cut it off and get a new one or a fin gets split and cut if off but they don’t catch fish like me and the boys

    I love that sand/champagne color. Its hard to find. I really dont care what the bait is, if its in that color i grab it. The 2.5 cover scat in that color is a smallmouth murder.

    All I will say as someone who lives by these smallies fisheries is to say goodbye. Don't fish in Struegon Bay Wisconsin. Due to local politicians and private businesses trying to ban public tournaments. Don't fish, buy, or support the city of Sturgeon Bay If you come this way. We fishermen must protect each other and stop politicians and corruption who want to ruin our sport, our passion. There is no hate towards tacticalbassin or small mouth fishing, but I want to let everyone know the truth of what's happening to these great lake fisheries.

      If you want to protect fisherman, you have to protect the fish. Catching fish off beds then bringing the fish to a weigh-in is a great way to harm a great fishery.
      The city is trying to do what the DNR should have already done, only allow weigh-on-the-water during spawning season.
