  • This isn't your dad's finesse dropshot fishing! Punching, Flipping, Creature baits, and yes, small profiles and finesse too! The dropshot is more versatile than most angler's realize. If you've compartmentalized it as a finesse technique, you're missing a lot of amazing dropshot opportunities in the Summer!
    In today's video Tim is covering standard dropshot fishing, including some of his key baits. But he's also adapting the method for grass, for heavy cover punching and flipping, and even for Bait Finesse (BFS) applications. The dropshot is far more versatile than we give it credit for and today Tim finally took the time to show us how it's done.
    Below you'll find links to all his favorite baits, hooks, weights, and accessories. We've also included links to his personal favorite dropshot rods and reels. All the links to directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

    Hey Tim, I wanted to take the time to thank you and Matt, I've been fishing since I was 2 and now I am 30. I've fished tournaments with my dad and won but I also fish most days of the year just for fun. In the past 5 years of watching your channel I have drastically increased my catch ratio and beat my pb multiple times in one day thanks to your thorough information. I now feel I can start doing tournaments again with great confidence and I owe it all to my dad, my brother, you and Matt. Thanks for helping me along with my dreams!

    I bought a pack of those MIssile Baits Magic Worms before your last video mentioning them. I had like 7 packs of roboworms to choose from but I decided to throw on the magic worm since you guys liked it as the sun rose a couple weeks ago in the early morning on the water. On the third cast I caught 7.25lb monster of a Wisconsin largemouth bass. Thanks for the amazing content and helping me land the northern fish of a lifetime!

    Good job on the video. I'm new to fishing and haven't caught a fish in weeks. I fish from the bank (no boat) made one drop shot rig and lost it on the second cast. Been stocking up on jigs and haven't lost one until today cause it wrapped under a tree and I didn't feel like going full aquaman for a two dollar jig. Up to my neck was enough. I'm going to try this method again. I really like the jigs though as I've gotten them outta a lotta sketchy spots so far. Having taken statistics in college is the only thing keeping me going right now. That and shopping at TW.

    I use swagger tie on weights, but found a steal deal on "normal" drop weights. I took a small pick and opened up the ends on them so you can tie them on instead of just pinching your line.

    Great video Tim. I really enjoy when you and Matt select a specific lure or technic and break it down. The drop shot is my go to these days. Perhaps the last 5-6 years. It consistently catches me fish. After watching your video, I've learned some things that I wasn't so much doing wrong but could do better. I'm curious.... what are those red and yellow clips on your rod and where did you get them? My weight lines are always getting snagged on my other rods or something else.

If you need a baitcaster to do special stuff you can't do on a spinning rod, then you need to go back to the basics lol

    Learned to fish, partly by using the dropshot concept, off of the day boats as a child, fishing for sand and calico bass in the Santa Monica Bay, CA. (We called the basic knot and concept a "dropper-loop" [rig], instead.) Interesting, that it has constantly and consistently worked within all of its various forms, forever.
    It seems more MLF/BPT and BassMaster Elite Series wins have been accomplished partly, if not fully, depending on the dropshot technique (especially in Northern, "Smallie Waters"). The more things change, the more things stay the same...

    Why do anglers have something against spinning rods ?

    • @Tallnerdyguy
      @Tallnerdyguy 7 минут назад

      Because they overspend on baitcasters.
      Casting rods are more technique specific, while spinning rods are more general purpose
