    Great, unbiased comparison, full of sonic examples and explanatory remarks, thank you! :) I own the HX One and love it; I have never had an opportunity to test the Plethora, but it seems to have quality effects, too. It's always good to hear such two units side by side; the choice belongs to the potential buyer, off course, however videos like this can help make the right decision.

    I have both. The HX One is on my big board and is used as my "swiss army knife" for when I need a one-off thing... super flexible. I use the Plethora X1 on my little board for the same thing. Yes, less types of effects, but for a small go-rig or backup to my big board, it covers most anything I may need in a pinch.

    I'd be half tempted to have both. Each are affordable for their brand and what they bring and the tonal combinations one could make would be endless.

    Why are you apologetic about your videos? You make some of the best and most concise videos out there - I bought a lot of stuff after seeing your demos. Not from Sweetwater though, as I am in Europe, but I totally would otherwise.

    Just ordered the TC from y'all. I will primarily use the stock FX. Just wanted an all-in-one thing for bass to have a few less pedals on my huge board hehe

    I can vouch wholeheartedly for the quality of the HX algos. I've only ever owned a TC Flashback, which is good, but not great. It's more like in between the Zoom and Helix level, and Helix level is just on another dimension (even the Reverbs are closer to Strymon level than Boss level).

    I have the TC X5 and HX One. One thing you didn’t mention is that the HX One has polyphonic pitch shifting. I don’t think the pitch on the Plethora is polyphonic.

      TC Brainwaves pitch shifter (included in Plethora) is polyphonic

    Press and hold Flashback I for tap tempo. Same for Flashback 2 but you must disable MASH. With Plethora, it's unclear if you can achieve tap tempo because of the way the switching is setup what with press and hold for other patch functions. I'm sure that TC have thought about this so I await further details.

    Free suggestion for TC Electronic or Line 6: Same layout and size as the Plethora X1, but all knobs are selection switches (like Knob D). Knob A is for kinds of Reverbs. Knob B is for kinds of Delays. Knob C is a selection of one or two user-selected tones, such as chorus or tremolo, etc., with user defined names that appear on the screen. Knob D is for pre-saved user ABC configurations which can also have user defined names, (14 or more user defined settings depending on the position of the toggle switch). Tones for each position of Knobs A and B can be selected as usual, and first setting for both knobs is an 'off' position. The first setting for Knob D is 'freeform' or dependent upon the settings of Knobs A, B and C - otherwise the Knob D setting of a pre-saved user configuration overrides Knobs A, B, and C. Real Guitarists who gig (i.e. play live) need easy access to their selected tones (via Knob D) without menu diving during live performances. Try this as a new TC pedal or Line 6 offering! Discuss this internally as a group. It will sell very well.

    Give us X1, X2 and X5 users a software update that will show BPM not just on our board setting but also in edit mode. There is nothing more annoying than deciphering MS ratio to BPM in edit mode 🤬

  • @matteomidas638

    You cannot compare those two pedals. The Line 6 is way more advanced and fully featured. The Tc is good but its direct competitor is the Zoom Cdr 70 ms.

    @line6 hasn’t updated the firmware of the hxone for almost a year! They posted the 3.80 update and took it down without explanation, apologies or nothing! Their treatment to people who paid $ for the hxone has been awful!!! Leaving the pedal with lots of real issues all this time and updating all the other devices in their lineup. I’m so glad to see the Plethorax1!!! I might get one soon and say goodbye to line6 forever!

    X1 - 1 block $179
    X3 - 3 blocks $369/3 = $123
    X5 - 5 blocks $579/5 = $116
    $6 between x5 and x3, while a whooping $56 difference on the x1 vs X3.
    The price for this should be $130 to make it compatible with the x line.

    • @paulburton5150

      Or… $79 for base cost, then $100 per effect slot. $79+100, $79+300, $79+500. Maths, innit. 😊 But yeah, cheaper would be nice

    • @netzarim1277
      @netzarim1277 Месяц назад +2

      @ I see what you did there! But no way you’ll get a X5 case pedal for $79. And your method defends the 179 price for the x1…I like my approach better cause it’s cheaper. lol but good one

      I found and bought an X5 for $325 in mint condition from Guitar Center online, set one slot for tap tempo/tuner fulltime to sync all tempo controlled fx at once on a board.

  • @HEZ63
    @HEZ63 Месяц назад +2

    No one! Buy a good amp and a good guitar and find your own, unique tone, without any effects first!
    Then you maybe can spice up the results, but even then some well selected single effects most probably will do a better job than such multi-fx pedals with some digital, exchangeable fake-tones.
    But I know, this is old school. Just like I am meanwhile.
