- New Orleans Native Charlie Andrews Gives a demonstration on how to make a 7UP pound cake from scratch. A New and Improved 7UP pound cake recipe, this pound cake is moist with a tender crumb. It is made with All Purpose flour, Unsalted butter, Sugar, eggs 7UP and a hint of Lemon flavor to enhance that 7UP flavor. We're also going to pour a delicious lemon icing right on top of the pound cake. This cake is a favorite among local New Orleans natives. Hope you'll give this new and improved 7UP pound cake a try.

I had been looking and trying lots of 7Up pound cake recipes. Trying to find one that was similar to my Grandma Lucy’s. I made yours and hand to God. It’s identical to hers. I cried when I ate the first slice. Not just because it was delicious but because it brought back so many memories of baking with her in her Louisiana kitchen. I even made one for my families fish fry and everyone kept saying how it was like Grandma was there and had brought the cake. Thank you so much Mr. Charlie for sharing your recipe. It was a blessing not just to me but my entire family. God bless you.

I followed your recipe, except I left my glaze a bit thicker. Let me tell you: DELICIOUS! It's light & moist and just the right amount of lemon flavor. It took me back to childhood, sitting on my aunt's front porch, sipping sweet tea & eating a piece of her 7-Up cake. Thank you for sharing this recipe-it is truly a taste of heaven.

And i had made (5) of them in one day. I love me a good old fashioned POUND CAKE, and you can't miss me with this one right here. I taught my Son-In-Love how to make it 8-10 years ago, and I can count on one hand how many times I've made one since then. 😄 My recipe is has a slight variation from yours. That being, in addition to adding the 1/2 tsp. Lemon Extract I also add 1/2 tsp. Almond Extract. Just a personal preference. TFS your beautiful cake. I agree with you. . . PRESENTATION IS KEY!!!

I actually just made this 1/24/2020....followed recipe precisely. 1st time baking a cake, and when I tell you - I got amazing reviews. I can't believe it. My coworkers really enjoyed it, the moisture, the taste. One coworker was like, "your first time baking." Yup. So glad, I found your channel. I used 12 inch pan didn't have the 15 inch - but still the job. Now I just a molasses bread recipe , my Granny used to make that one when were kids.

I am from your neighboring state Mississippi. As a teenager, I used to bake a 7- Up Cake once a week in our house. A 7-Up Cake is tricky with the carbonation in the drink. I would sometimes shake the drink up and slowly open the lid to slowly decompress the carbonation in the bottle. I would then leave the lid off over night if knowing I was making the cake the next day, so the 7 Up would be flat.
Watching this has made me want a 7-Up Cake. I really don't need it.

Just baked this and it came out just as beautiful as yours. I couldn't believe it! I didn't have the larger NW pan, so I baked the rest of the batter in a loaf pan. Delicious! Thank you Cholly! 😉 Have a great rest of 2020. 👍🏽
