I've started to just play whatever the hell I feel like. Not completing games, but playing them because I find it fun at the moment.
    It's been great tbh.

Limiting my game time solely on the weekends kept me looking forward to the weekend. Anytime I would play games when I wanted whenever I wanted took out the significants of the time spent with it. Now I schedule time on the weekends to play and enjoying gaming more now than when I did playing just about every night.

@@MIDLES. Same here. I've started to just boot up a game instead of staring st them. You can always change your mind, close the game and start another. But usually you'll get somewhat hooked when it's actually been started.

I’m a competitive person and I used to play so many competitive games, but in the last 6 months I’ve slid into the chill phase of gaming. I still play ranked games from time to time. But now that Star Wars Outlaws is out I’ve really been enjoying a singleplayer experience, which I haven’t had in many years. I know I’m gonna get clowned for like SW Outlaws but oh well

Something I've been thinking about is cycles, specifically how to open and close the day. I feel like most of us have the middle of the day down, like just doing the things we gotta do. But the start and ends of the day tend to be neglected. Something to look forward to in the morning, or something to just get one going for the day. Something to unwind and slow down and really recharge at the close of the day, and put you in a good place to start the next day. Been feeling that's a key part of how to stay balanced and keep a good rhythm going. Cos otherwise it's so easy to just go go go, and then have just random time fillers and scrolling of mindless consumption taking up the time at the start and end of each day, which over time can snowball and add to a feeling of burn out

Regarding how to manage your personal real life, honestly, one of the biggest things that's helped me improve is speaking to a therapist.
If you can afford to do so, I would highly recommend looking for a reputable company or website to find a good therapist who suits your needs.
You don't even need to be depressed or anything to go see one. Just like for physical check-ups, it's better to take early preventative measures than wait for shit to hit the fan.
Hope everyone has a great weekend 😊

I find myself having a weird relationship with games ever since I graduated college. Most days I just stare at my game library for 10 minutes before deciding to go on RUclips or Twitter and just scrolling endlessly until I have to sleep, then I get home from work and the whole cycle repeats. It gets even worse when I start a game and then don't pick it up again for months. I guess the only thing that really works for me is getting into a routine with gaming, like saying "I'll play for at least 3 hours everyday".

Best example I have is committing to beating (not completing) games over the last 2.5 years. I would always play a lot but jump from game to game & wanted to get back to my child-like ways of beating games instead of just understanding their gameplay loops & moving on.
I started tracking what games I beat & if I even completed them, as well I started not moving from one game to the next until I'd beat the previous game. There's tons of ways to track this but regardless of how you track it, the biggest thing it did was teach me to value my gaming time more.
Was it worth doing all the copy/paste busy work in that open world game? Should I skip the long winded dialog of those side quests because I'm not going to remember it anyways? Should I really start that 50+ hour rpg when I can play 4-5 smaller titles & get the variety I crave at the moment?
All of this has resulted in me beating almost 70 games so far (will be over 70 by years end) & regardless of what way you look at it that's a large amount of games to beat while having adult responsibilities. The best part is I can look at my list & recall playing those games, where if I didn't have a list I'm not sure I'd recall every game & be able to remember my experience playing them.

I have ASD and ADHD together. I literally have to set routines for myself with how long I should take (really how fast I’d like to get it done). Having both is weird. I typically wear headphones or keep one ear bud in to keep my focus while I do a task. Even while gaming, i have an airpod in under my over ears. It keeps me focused. My brain need constant stimulation to stay focused. Like the ASD helps me super zone into something, but the ADHD makes me think about something else and the zooooone into that for a while. Sometimes I cant figure out what to focus or or nothing is stimulating my enough so im just antsy and want to do things but cant figure out what i want to do. It’s weird lol

    • @Feniksds
      @Feniksds 2 месяца назад +2

omg i literally have the same problem. Do you also have the problem where you have so manydifferent intrests that you cascade between and certain times its A and B and C and other years its A C and D. And then you end up knowing alot and doing a very deep dive in all three. So you essentially know alot about A,B,C and D. And so you talk to someone about A but there is a connection with C that also has to do something with B so you end up talking about B not aware that they aren't making that connection that you see but they don't.

its crazy like i once played witcher 1,2,3 and the dlc for 3 in a time of 4 months. Now i am big in Halo. And done the same with assassins creed and with half life etc etc.

    • @-whiskey-4134
      @-whiskey-4134 2 месяца назад

@@Feniksds yes lmao I go between video games, playing one of my 7 musical instruments, to working on my gun and changing parts on that, to studying occult/esoteric stuff, then go to horror movies, anime, then it’ll be like horror video games with occult/esoteric references, or anime or movies with lots of guns and nerd out over that. There’s always a heavy focus on one or something where there’s a mix. My wife gets a kick out me just info dumping about my interests then connecting them all somehow XD at first she’ll be like “wait, so what’s the relevance?” And I have to say “hold on, I’m getting there, but this all needs to he said first so you see the connection!”. Or if we watch a movie for the first time I end uo being able to predict the sequence of events based on patterns of how the scenes are playing out. Or just by seeing what’s happening and she’ll ask “how tf did you know this was gonto happen?” And I’ll respond with “well, if I was in a universe governed by the movies rules and logic, that’s exactly what I would do.”
But yeah, my interests get so intense sometimes. It can almost be debilitating if I dont force myself to change tasks or activities. Whereas sometimes I cant stay focused on one for more than 5 minutes and I’m trying to do them all at once. It’s weird how sometimes the Autism is more dominant whereas other days the ADHD is more dominant.
My wife is always saying how intelligent I am, but really it’s just that I get into something and then I have to learn about like 10 other things to continue learning about the initial interest and there tends to be overlaps in other areas that may not even seem relevant until something else comes up years later. There are times where my wife will have questions and I have all the answers and she asks “how do you know all of this?” And then I have to explain how a few years before I met her I had an interest in something and I had to learn about this thing in order to fully understand the other thing, and that ended up being relevant to what she asked. Then she asks how I remembered and then I have to explain idk or control what my brain retains or why. Im just wired that way. But there’s the downside where everyone thinks I’m a know it all when I’m not trying to be. Just literally trying to help someone get the answers they’re looking for. I guess I make em feel stupid? Though I never saw myself as super intelligent, I just see it as I know a lot of useless information Thats sometimes helpful.
Like I used to vape in my early 20’s and build my own coils and such, so I had to learn about electricity (ohms, wattage, voltages, resistances, etc) so I didn’t have the equivalent of an electric pipe bomb about to blow my hand a face off, snd now I may be getting he chance ti work with an electric company lol they guy i know was explaining to me and I unintentionally cut him off to explain that I knew how it all worked and he was kinda shocked and asked how I knew. So I explained how i educated myself while building vape coils and messing with batteries. He laughed and offered me a job if I ever wanted to work with him. Crazy how 10 years later that small addiction/interest may lead to a decent job.
There’s also a correlation I’ve noticed between gun ownership and musicians, so I can typically tell of they’re into guns, they’re probably a guitar player or drummer lmao which then tells me they probably like knives, outdoor, and survival stuff. Just weird patterns like that. Which then allows me to be able to socialize more be picked up on those patterns and reduces the social awkwardness from my end. And i dont have to focus so hard on social cues and rules. I can just engage in a conversation with multiple topics I’m well versed in and not seem weird.

My MCC max rank grind is still going strong. Per my spreadsheet, I should hit it by Christmas if this year if I can continue to knock out the challenges each week. 4 levels left!
But I definitely make sure to play other games after I’ve knocked out the challenges so the grind doesn’t get stale. It does mean that those other games can take quite a while for me however. I’m currently nearing the end of RE4 Remake, and it’s taken me nearly 2 months.
