Do you have to loosen the trans dip stick nut? I unbolted my bands but not the trans dipstick one and the downpipe will not move
An aftermarket downpipe makes a noticeable difference. The factory downpipe is very restrictive.
Very helpful and to the point video, thanks
Glad it helped! Thank you
What did you do about getting the dipstick bolted back down?
Nice looking truck brotha. I love black
Thank You!
LOL. Because yours was already setup easy ready to go!
The average guy who will tackle this on their stock duramax will first have to encounter the Turbo “shield”.
And then figure out if you will leave it or remove it which is a total PAIN!!!!! 🙈.
Then you can’t get the down pipe off just yet! And if you tried you’ll have to wedge it all back up in there and at least re fasten with the lower 14-15mm bolt.
So it was a nightmare man.. I just did that part yesterday so I’m still fired up about it LOL
and most how to vids on here the shields are already removed and they never mention it.
First you have to take the stupid “shield” off the down pipe as well 🙈. And that’s a pain many times.
Mine the last bolt was so hard to come out the whole way and barely accessible..
Yes mine was very easy. I feel your pain I have done a handful of them with everything attached still definitely not fun, but once you do a few you learn some of the tricks. If the heatsheild was on there I most certainly would have covered it. My lb7 will be one of those scenarios. That one the damn down pipe is bolted in 🤦♂️ lol
@@DIYDiesel haha yup! My first diesel was an lb7. And I thought I’d get more whistle by changing the down pipe!
You should have seen the technique I used 😆.. chains and ratchet straps connected to wrenches!
@@Wretched2JZ oh damn! 🤣
@@DIYDiesel yup lol and it really didn’t increase the whistle as you prob know 😆
How you liking this setup.
Love the tools
Income tax is here so ima spoil myself.
Absolutely, but definitely buy a stainless one either ppe it or many of the other options for stainless down pipes MBRP tend to crack at the bolt location.
Hoping to tackle this soon! Trying to decide which downpipe to buy. Any insight? I’m leaning toward ppe. How different could they all be?
I would do PPE stainless. High quality great cost. The MBRP ones tend to rust immediately, and prone to fail if you bolt it back to the manifold.
Great video, what tools do you use too make it easier?
Do I need a new downpipe when putting an 5” straight pipe. My pickup used to have a 4” when I bought it and the whole exhaust pipe rusted and fell off
No you won’t need a down pipe the exhaust system will adapt to the downpipe size
Do you have to take the egr off first before you can replace the down pipe?
No you do not 👍
My kit came with one gasket. Do I use that on one of the ends?
If it came with one yes use it on the proper end, and order a new one for the one that didn’t come. Do not reuse them.
im trying to fit a 3in DP but the lb7 p.s uppipe from PPE wont let me close it at the turbo. How did you go about this? Any denting done on either?
If you have the wrong passenger side up pipe installed it will not fit. There are two up pipes one for single turbo, and one for compounds. The single turbo up pipe is dented in slightly to allow clearance for the 3” down pipes. If your up pipe is not dented it it will not fit the 3” DP, but it will fit the stock one.
so...custom fitment required got it 😉
@@gerardorodruiguez5928 lol correct
Dose this mess with emissions
It does not
