Another beautiful piece. Thank you for the addition of the two words.....Let Dry.! I have no patience and keep going even though I know I should stop . Let Dry is my new. mantra. Thanks
I smiled as I read your message because I know excatly how you feel. I usually work on several pieces at a time because I have trouble waiting for paint to dry. Alternatively I go and make a tea or watch a video here on RUclips. I'm glad it was helpful. Have a lovely weekend! Best, Marie Louise
I don't feel like I need to loosen up, but your techniques are fantastic. Love your markings. Learning to layer more, use less colors, and use bigger brushes to keep things simple. Thanks for being so kind and generous. Can't get enough. You are my favorite!
Dear Marie Louise another beautiful painting so organic and serene I can envision my native Scottish Highlands in the colour and landscape, so evocative, thank you as always be safe.
I've seen lots of beautiful documentaries about Scotland but I know only visiting in person will do it justiceI One day I'll make it there! Thank you and wishing you a lovely and safe week also.
Magnifique peinture , les couleurs , l'atmosphère , très belle réussite , de la sensibilité et une grande présence dans ce tableau ,, Félicitations 👍💖🥀🌞
I am a big fan of sgraffito techniques, layers and discovering random effects on a surface. I like the rubber shapers for pushing paint too. Thanks for all the ideas!
Another gorgeous painting. I love how the blue-grey you added towards the end of the video pushed the horizon further back, really creating depth. It always amazes me how one stroke of colour can change a painting
Hello Painters. That burgundy color from last weeks video really sparked a lot of new ideas for me. Today I want to share an abstract landscape painting I did after introducing burgundy to my color palette. ►► My ONLINE COURSE www.danishpainter.com Hope you have a safe and creative week. Best, Marie Louise
Will try larger brushes & knives. Have been using limited palette & loose painting, but have problem with on deciding a focus on non landscapes. Really enjoy your teaching & lovely voice.🥰
I love your style, paintings and techniques you share with us. Thank you so much! I am learning so much from you. When I can afford to, I shall take your course. : )
superbe, je me suis bien amusée.. je n'arrive pas à faire diffuser les bords de ma peinture même avec beaucoup d'eau et un tissu .... J'ai utilisé un papier aquarelle recouvert de gesso
This painting is so realistic too me and looking at it makes me happy😄....loved your advise, it helps indeed. Once again thank you for your generosity.
I find that you can get boxed into a certain style or way of painting, I am new to you channel and I am enjoying the way you construct your art with the layers, and I am always quite surprised the way they turn out, so thankyou and keep up the great work.
I love your landscapes! So beautiful! Thank you for the advice. One of the hardest things for me is to let a piece dry and come back to it later to add layers. But it always looks better when I do this, so I am learning to make it a habit.
Love your work. Just wondering do you paint from imagination or source material or plein air as I find it difficult to translate a scene into abstract loose shapes.
Hi. Just been watching your videos and wonderful art today. So good. And the manner you go about explaining everything is so instructive and calming. It’s like therapy. Thank you. John from Gibraltar
I love this. So interesting to see what happens when you add that fourth color to your palette. Wondering what your are using for the burgundy-alizarin crimson, maybe? And I'm SO EXCITED to see that you're launching your online classes. Congratulations!
By the way, I just shared your online class to my Facebook page and thought you'd want to know that no image shows up in the link. Probably some setting in the page code that you may want to tweak.
Thank you so much Laurie - I've really put my heart and soul and months of work into this course. Your encouragement made me really push forward, so thank you! The burgundy color is actually a color called Burgundy by the brand Winsor Newton. But it does indeed look like a shade of alizarin crimson!
I often mist the paint with a spray bottle with water. And You can cover the paints with cling wrap or a plastic lid in between applications - that will also keep the paint moist for a longer time.
Hi Lisa. The work I do on paper I don't fix or seal in any way. I just keep the pieces in my sketchbooks until I want to frame them under glass. Work on canvas I seal using satin spray varnish for acrylics.
Once again your painting are just what I am striving for. For some time I have tried a limited palette and larger brushes and tools. I would be very interested in your online class for my continued attempts have been slow. Could you please say the colors to be used at the beginning as I have not been able to access the description. Thank you once again!
Good job on using limited palette and larger brushes! The colors used in the video are Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Indigo, Burgundy + Titanium White and Mars Black. Best, Marie Louise
Hi!! This is so gorgeous! Beautiful colors!! Those are great tips for what to work on...I'm trying to work on all of them for sure, but the last one , layering, is definitely something I want to work on because I love it when I see it :) I signed up for info about the class, just to have it. I know I've mentioned it but with covid, this last year, we've had really no work, so I'm not sure I'll be able to afford a class as of now, but I look forward to learning about! I signed up to also get the free booklet, but it takes me to a blank web page....but, I'll keep looking for it. I'm sure your class will go wonderfully and I hope to one day be a part of it!!! Thanks for sharing these...love them!! I tried a super abstract thing...where you've nothing in mind and just make marks🙄😳 so....painting in general may just be way beyond anything im capable of......but the need to keep doing it is stronger then my frustration with myself, for now, so, I'll keep working on it :) but, its also teaching me what things I do or don't like as much. And while total abstract is fun and I'll keep at it to learn, I do realize I love your type of abstract even better, so thats cool to learn. Thanks again!!🥰 (I wanted to apologize if there are crazy mistakes in my note..I've not slept so my brain is a bit squishy😊 )
Hi Jade & thanks for letting me know. You should get instant access to the free guide as soon as you sign up and create a password. In addition you'll get an Thank-you-email with a direct link so that you may sign in using your email and the password you created. Using the link in the email you can log-in and see or download the guide whenever is convient to you. Oh and please check your spam filter... Thanks for watching and have a lovely week!
I love your videos! I have really learned a lot from them. One thing I wish was different... the subtitles you add often block part of the painting that I would really like to see. I am not sure if they are necessary, but they are covering your beautiful work. ❤️
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I haven't actually added subtitles - RUclips does that automatically. You can turn them on/off by clicking on "CC" at the bottom right of any RUclips video. Hope that helps & thanks for watching.
Jag tycker om din videos och din ideer! Min svenska ar inte sa bra, sa pa engelska har ar en 'cheap trick' som kanske ar en molighet att includera i en av din videos: When we paint loosely, often 'happy accidents' fall in bad places. For example, maybe a happy accident would make a good focal point, except it falls in the center of the picture. A cheap trick: crop. (Chop off a side/sides of the paper/canvas.) After cropping, maybe your painting is even finished. This trick might be too obvious to even mention--if so, my apologies. Thanks for generously sharing your wisdom and advice!
Absolutely baffled and bewildered. you spend all the time working on the sky; working in the colours, painting, wiping--then in the end you smash a knife full of white all over it and bury it. What is going on? I will never understand this style of painting. very odd.
This is one of my favorite paintings of yours I just wish I could paint it on a large canvas thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you so much 😀

It is fascinating to watch the layers develop into spacious forms. It is always a surprise that makes me smile at the magic of it all.
Thank you Virginia, I'm glad you enjoyed it and even happier that it made you smile. Sending smiles and sunshine your way :-)
So very effective, I paint with oils on canvas and trying to loosen but this demo has got my inspiration going again just finding what clicks 😉👌🎨

Use a hairdryer and you can work away then again more less
Thank you

Thank you for sharing your amazing talent. I love how your layering looks at the end. I prefer more abstract landscapes and these are inspiring!

@@lauriebergren3791 Oh thanks for the heads up I'll look into it!
Thank you for all these tips. While you let a layer drying, how do you keep the paint on your palette wet instead?

How to keep the confidence, when using your style on larger canvases?
You are right, it's not easy. But with practice and experience it will come. You can do it!
