Are you looking for ways to make your acrylic paintings stand out and avoid harsh colors? Want a calmer and more balanced look and feel to your artwork? Then using neutrals (also called naturalized colors or grays) in your paintings is the way to go. There are lots for reason why you would want to use grays/neutral. In the video I share my favourite way to mix neutrals/grays using complimentary colors.

You're very welcome Tanya! Thanks for watching :-)
Thank you for sharing your experience. I have tried mixing my own orange with yellow and red and add it to ultramarine blue, but the mix was not always satisfactory as I got different results depending on the choice of reds or yellows I used. I will buy cadmium orange in the future to get more consistent results.
It is probable that she uses paints which have only one pigment… whereas you are using an orange composed of at least two pigments, plus the blue, giving a much muddier, browner, colour. Try single pigment paints.
Really useful. Thank you.
Love your instruction. I’ve learned so much from you and am very grateful 😊. Thank you

THANKS FOR THIS NICE TUTORIAL, TAK :)
Thank you for watching :)
Oh yes, this video was usefull! I've learned something and a whole new world opened. What are other examples of combinations with complimentary colours?
When you prep your canvas with gesso, is that clear gesso or white gesso? Thank you.
Hello Marie Louise- what kind of book do you use to paint in- is the paper watercolor paper?
Hello, I absolutely love your painting style, how long did it take you to perfect this technique ? 💚
Thanks :) I've been at it for many many years and it's still evolving.
Brilliant video.
NB. You have written Burnt Sienna not Cadmium Orange in the colours used.
Thanks for catching that one, I will change it right away!
No problem!
🎨❤
Hi What gsm is your paper please?
Wonderful why did you choose
Cad orange and ultramarine and not other oranges and blues? Could you also suggest other specific colors to make neutrals. Thanks again
Yes it could be ultramarine violet and lemon yellow. I'd love to do more videos on complimentary colors. What I really need is more time and an assistant so I could spend more time making more videos about painting and color. Thanks for watching :)
Red and green are opposite on color wheel, orange n nlue, yellow n purple, in lay terms...also combos yellow-orange n blue-violet...
They key, i believe, is opposite colors on the color wheel ... Seems like magic, eh? Learning something new everyday 😉💃💕 thank you, marie louise 🥰💕🥰🕊️🌏🕊️
