  • History of the broad arrow mark and why it ended up on the “Dirty Dozen” watches. Is your bank account big enough to capture (collect) all 12?
Editors note: The I say "1-5 thousand" Grana watches were made. That's 1K to 5K were made.

Spot on! Any tools belonging to the UK government have the arrowhead. I worked on nuclear refits, i saw the arrow everyday.

I think that there must have been more than 12 watch brands with the Govt Broad Arrow. I have a 35mm Tissot with that mark, and have seen a few others too.

I heard [I can't remember from whom] that originally 13 manufacturers had been approached by the UK government, but -for one reason or another-one [name ??] did not continue. Perhaps someone could confirm or deny ?

A fair summary mate .Being born in 1956 in Norwich England and loving all things military and horological I remember army surplus stores with piles of dirty dozen watches that looked like they had been put in the window by the shovel full .Price 30 bob £1 10 shillings or if any USAF still living (and respect from Norfolk we will never forget )thats $4 50 another now grail collectable from USAF RAF issue that I had 3 off were the sheepskin and 1 US i think camel skin flying jackets that up to the 70s were give a ways now worth big bucks even if falling to bits. God bless America .Far more than special to us who remember or grew up on the stories of the valiant Yank pilots who sacrificed their lives to crash their burning aircraft in fields ,rivers ,the sea anywhere but towns or villages .And they died in that inferno .To save us from the 3rd Reich .Im now snotting like a girl so will end my walk down memory lane
