    Just picked this up used from Reverb when I heard about the Tracker+ synth engines, this is such a nice track! What is your process for tuning the samples (voice, glass, etc) for playability? Do you just run a sine tone in C in the background while retuning in the sample editor or something?

    • @sandroidmusic
      @sandroidmusic  2 месяца назад

      Thank you! ❤. Actually everything was just tuned to my voice sample and not tuned to any actual musical scale or standard frequencies. I have a tendency to just go wherever things take me, which means i just tune all the subsequent parts to whatever is required for the previous parts. If external gear was involved or VSTs, i would of course try to tune to some reference though, else it can become messy quickly.

    Hey, those pad chords, we're they sequenced or straight up sampled from another synths? They sound great! As do the samples, love that repeated sustained amp distorted thing. How much of this is straight out of this thing vs cleaned in the daw. Great job!

    • @sinewaymusic
      @sinewaymusic Год назад +1

      Oh man, you're actually explaining it all in the end. Nice breakdown! Actually a great RUclips video idea. I might use that in a future video. 😊 With the distorted sound in the previous comment, I meant the "snare". Again, great work.

      @sandroidmusic  Год назад +1

      @@sinewaymusic Hehe, no problem😉. Glad you made it to the breakdown. Yup all done and dusted on the Tracker and no synths were sampled for it. And thank YOU for listening! ❤

    • @sinewaymusic

      @@sandroidmusic Between this and the Benn Jordan jam, I have to say that this thing sounds incredible out of the box. The reverb is very nice, and it seems you can get decent mixes. How fiddly is it to go through all that on a handheld? Mixing on the MPC was always a pain to me compared to doing it in the DAW. The Syntakt can get the basic mix right but lacks any form of compression. Does this thing have a master compressor?

    • @sandroidmusic
      @sandroidmusic  Год назад +3

      @@sinewaymusic Oof, high praise! Thank you! ❤It's suprisingly not that fiddly at all. I was afraid that the weight might eventually cause fatigue - it's super light by the way - but after a multitude of hours, it was still no problem. It has a Limiter and a Saturation Stage on the Master, but no compressor per se. But setting volumes / gain staging is pretty straight forward. The only post processing i did here was highering the volume when recording to .wav.

    This single handedly make me want to keep my Mini. I wanted to try it out cause the fill feature and the happy accidents are something that drew me to it and the ability to sample my environment is to force me to get out more. Thanks. I do have a question.
    How do you tune your samples into key?

    • @sandroidmusic
      @sandroidmusic  8 месяцев назад

      Aww thank you! ❤
      I do love the formfactor, but i'll admit, i still miss the pads on this one. There will be some form of "keyboard" in a future update though, so hopefully that will make entering notes a bit more convenient.
      Regarding tuning. I usually just tune by ear, using Tune and Finetune in the Instrument Parameters Screen and don't try tune to an actual standard. The tuning will automatically follow whatever melodic part i come up with first. This will then become the reference for the rest of the track. If i use external gear, i may tune to that as reference.

    • @MatsueMusic
      @MatsueMusic 7 месяцев назад

      @@sandroidmusic just to be overly clear, So your melodic part is usually an instrument or sample with known accuracy (say C) and that would be your reference for your recording?

    • @sandroidmusic
      @sandroidmusic  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@MatsueMusic no known accuracy whatsoever 😆. I tend to just start playing around with samples without specifically tuning them at all. So they could be completely off-tune.. and if i would play a C4 on a soft synth for example it will not be in tune with it.
      A good example is the first sample in the Sample Breakdown section of the video at 3:01 . As you may notice, the automatically assign C played is still in the same key as i sang it - which is most likely not a C at all 😆.
      This would then become my reference tuning, to which everything else is tuned to.
      Now as i mentioned - if i use external gear or softsynths (VSTi), then i'll tune to those to make life easier.
      I hope that helps, else let me know and we'll have another go at it 😊. You can always find me on the Polyend Tracker Discord or on the Polyend Backstage Forum.

      @@sandroidmusic it does! I was worried because I started making music before I learned what any of the wacky letters and symbols mean on a piano (I was like 5 when I started using trackers and FL). So, my ear will notice things but I am only now learning the tools to actually make them sound good.

  • @inf0tr8r

    how does programming it feel compared to the original? same easiness? awkard?

    • @sandroidmusic
      @sandroidmusic  Год назад

      Suprisingly not awkward at all. Haven't missed the jogwheel at all. The D-Pad together with the +/- Buttons work great! Sequencing is pretty straight forward as well with the +/- buttons. I do miss the pads though, because i like to jam while listening to patterns. But nothing a good MIDI controller can't fix. Like the Arturia Minilab for example.
