Grazie mille per questo! 👍🏻 Finally an up-to-date video about VB and their gazillion channels that explains what is going with this VAIO and ASIO stuff in an understandable (and entertaining) way. I don't need a trillion connections so Banana and the regular Matrix are (still) sufficient. The original documentation is utterly confusion and their inconsistent, unintuitive backwards nameing of VB Inputs and Outputs and even the installers themself is driving me nuts -- so French: Why are channels SENDING sound called inputs and vice versa? Why is the VB Banana installer called "Pro" and Potato is not? So many questions and you essentially answered them. 🙏
Great alternative, I ran Asio4All for a long time and after some changes to my PC it started crackling no matter the configuration. Haven't had any issues with Matrix at all yet.
Thank you for this. Great video explanation. I have one question. Is it possible to rename the Virtual ASIO channels so the DAW sees them as I have named them in matrix at a driver level. It seems to give them the generic names in the DAW so when I name in matrix does the name get passed on to the daw?
Hey thanks - glad it was useful❤Regarding your question - currently no. This has come up once or twice though and i think the developer(s) are aware of it. Hopefully we will see this in a future update. 💪
Very good video! Thank you. I´m using ASIO Link Pro for years (hopefully you are familiar with this as well) and now i consider to change to Coconut as it has the big advantage that i could use not only my ASIO device (Tascam US HR 1x2) but also the sound system of my PC (ASUS Motherboard/Realtek) or other devices at the same time. My question is about latency. It is said that the (already deceased) programmer of ASIO Link Pro must have been some kind of genius or wizard as it additional provides not little latency but very very little latency. What can you say about that and a comparison between ASIO Link Pro and Coconut in general? I know the relevance of this question is rather low as with both programs you can adjust the latency of different in- or outputs so they fit alltogether. Anyway thank you very much in advance.
Sadly i can tell you very little when it comes to ASIO Link Pro in comparison to Matrix. I infact was considering testing it when i was hunting for a different solution to ASIO4ALL. But as you mentioned, i found out that the developer passed away and the software is no longer really maintained. Which made me believe it would be better to move on to something newer. So as far as latency goes - it really depends on your setup i suppose? For me it's good enough for what i require it to do, which is to multitrack sequenced parts from devices that don't support ASIO. So no realtime recording of live played instruments. I've done some tests though to see how far apart the actual sound of the device and the incoming audio is. It is still in an acceptable range i'd say that if you line them all up you could be ok. I usually run an RME ASIO setup, so i don't really deal with this on a day to day basis. I really eclusively use Matrix when i need to multitrack from devices that don't have their own ASIO drivers. Which means it's normally a one and done. Hope that was some sort of help. But i guess you'll have to bite the bullet and find out for yourself. Good thing though - you don't have to pay anything upfront to give it a try, eh? 😉
Hey there. Matrix might be a bit overkill for such a usecase. You might be better off using VoiceMeeter or even Virtual Audio-Cable by VB-Audio. Media Player may also not be the best option as it doesn't really allow you to choose a different audio output. If i were you i'd give VoiceMeeter a try.
Yes. With Matrix Coconut you could have up to 8 virtual ASIO devices (VASIO). So you'd have your software synths running through them and then route the output of those to your actual ASIO device.
Hi, how to change sample rate. My Asio device in Matrix shows 44100, but i want 48000. In settings i changed from default to 48000 but it did nothing. Driver menu shows that "Driver operating at 44100". ?
Hey there. In the Matrix System settings, you can change the ASIO SR (Sample Rate) to use preferred sample rate instead of the default. This will ask the ASIO driver to run in you preferred samplerate. However - the ASIO driver can say no, because it may be driven by another internal or external clock. If so, you can try to open the devices ASIO control panel and set the desired samplerate there (while Matrix is configured to use the default ASIO SR). Btw, some ASIO driver does not allow to change samplerate on its control panel while in use. Good luck!

While I can open the VAIO control panel and adjust the latency there, when I close the window, the smp (indicated in the small blue box and letters) will not change, i.e. it just stays at 7168 smp. The latency is changed actually in the background even though it doesn't show, however when I close and reopen Matrix, the smp goes back to the "default" blue value. I have tried everything, including fresh install but I just cant make the latency stick and show correctly. Any ideas? Merci und Gruess

Hey! I have an audio interface with a microphone plugged in. I have a multi effect pedal also working as an interface with a guitar plugged in. I can plug my headphones into the audio interface and use direct monitor to hear my microphone without delay. I can do the same on the pedal to hear the guitar. However, I can't hear both without delay. Is there any way I can do some ASIO routing in coconut to hear the two inputs at the same time?
You could create a VASIO device that combines both devices and add a delay to the device that reacts quicker. (check at 16:42 of the video). The nature of these software solutions sadly always introduces some form of delay. Even if windows were to introduce aggregate devices as a native feature, this would still be the case. So the only solution available to you, is to compensate on the faster devices through a delay.
Does this Coconut Matrix adds latency? I need to connect Rodecaster ASIO to some other programs like reaper, OBS and WASABI, but I am getting around 5 frames of delay. I would like to know if the Coconut Matrix could be the problem and if there are any alternatives without latency, please
Yes it introduces latency and no there is sadly no alternative that won't add latency. As soon as you use any software that can manipulate/route your audio there is always latency. That's just the nature of how this works. That's why most if not all software like that offers latency compensation options or ways to delay your audio across devices so that they can be synced up again.
