I doubt it would've been a blockbuster even in the early days of Nickelodeons, before filmmakers learned how to move the camera around. In this day & age, it just looks like a multi-gazillion-dollar home-movie. I've seen more imaginative concepts & executions done by amateur content-creators on RUclips.
You’re right 👍 young audiences today want fast talking movies with ultra violence, ridiculous stupid so-called comedies and Pixar/Disney/Marvel trash- they don’t even have a clue what a good film is
@@normalsee4447 Movies don't need to to "fast talking with ultra violence" or be "stupid comedies" or be "Pixar/Disney/Marvel" trash necessarily. They just need to be _about_ something more interesting than some boring, hackneyed soap-opera shlock filmed from one spot in somebody's living room. (Hell, even in a shlocky soap-opera or "Daytime Drama" as they're also called, they actually _move_ the camera around once in awhile...) I mean, I suppose it could have some value as an alternative to Seconal, but other than that, I can't imagine anyone willingly watching this snoozefest...
Filming an entire movie with the camera nailed down in one spot, throwing a bunch of soap-opera shlock in front of it & then expecting an audience to sit through it without getting bored, squirming, wanting to step outside for a ciggie-break or whatever, is an awful lot to expect. I mean, forget the issues of whether it's 'woke' or has 'star power' or whatever, let's face it: Movies are just that: They're supposed to _move._ They're primarily a _visual_ medium. And the fact is that everything shot from one static POV is going to be boring as hell to watch, no matter how clever the director thinks the concept is (it's not) or how cleverly he thinks he pulled it off (he didn't.)
Hollywood biggest problem is not the aging actors. It is the lack of respect for good solid writing and directing. People want to see true diversity in their movies . Unfortunately what we are getting is a very pretentious idea of diversity that disrespect the movie goers. The bean counters are running Hollywood. Everything is being quantified into formulas by them .
“Here” is a wonderful film. I just saw it and laughed and cried and enjoyed the nostalgia, simple as it was-it worked for me and I see a LOT of movies. It’s just audiences who like Pixar, Marvel, ultra violence and sarcastic fast talking films that don’t get it.
I'm glad YT started recommending smaller channels. At this point you have more luck at escapism by reading or watching old movies, cause modern films aren't cutting it. Lots of directors and actors who made it in the 80s-90s, 2000s , are old now, and not all of can still make it the same way. Like I watched another movie with Tom Hanks where he played a grumpy neighbour with a tragic overly dramatic life story. And it turned out just dull.
hi new sub...and i love Tom Hanks, but have never heard of this film. it sounds terrible, a fixed camera film, sorry that was acceptable in the early days of tv or even in the early 2000s, but now. that doesn't even sound clever, but really pretentious
Had that movie came out in the early two thousands, it likely would've been a blockbuster.
Maybe? But only with boomers.

@MrPGC137 I agree. How good can a overpriced looking home movie be?

I use to go to the movie theater about 24 times a year. I have gone 1 time since 2020. I don’t watch TV shows anymore either. All WOKE garbage!
I haven't been to the theater since Logan.

So I guess everything is going to be a cgi-laden, bland af, superhero thing from the Marvel universe from now on.
@@ZZZzzzap12 the opposite end of the spectrum problem.
Well, the accusations against this guy are serious 😬

Imagine how bad that movie would be with Robert DeNiro.
It was pretty good.
I agree 👍😜

I enjoyed welcome to marwen 😆. Its too bad they relied here on tech to try and impress, not focusing on the writing and story.
I will argue that movie stars still do bring ppl into theaters…im only seeing gladiator 2 bc i love pedro pascal.
2:22; "Gladiator 2" is likely next.
