I can confirm Mr Catchpole really does go running with the headlight torch on. At a press event I was in my hotel room and this weird lanky spectre flashed past my window - it was him.
That level of dedication helps explain how he stays so lean, but watching him in a recent video… I think the GT1/F1/GTR one…I thought he looked like he was auditioning for The Machinist. I was a bit concerned tbh.
@@colin5577 The legs definitely had some meat on them and plenty strong I'm sure, 6'5" is a looong way to stretch out that amount of flesh so appears very thin.
I hate when they only make a few hundred of any car, then we know most of them will sit in show rooms. Either way, Im happy to see a new v12 car, although I'd still rather find a classic stick shift one!
maybe it’s just to test the waters. The 911R was like that, until they realised how much people wanted it and decided to make it available to the public with the 911 GT3 Touring.
It sounded like he kept making up excuses for the car. I can describe it for all of us: disappointing. Exterior looks meh, added bits look tacky and out of place, that from grill has to go I wonder if you can choose the previous grill which would be more fitting for this car, the interior is the same and it looks awful for an Aston. The old Vantage was a beautiful car…
Agreed.. He's the only reason I watch the channel, and i never miss a Catchpole video. He appeals to me as an enthusiast, as a frequent track driver and as someone who wants to really know what makes a car tick. Yet all wrapped up in a level of entertainment and charm thats rarely matched. Here's to more of Henry in the years to come!
Although Henry's journalist and presenting skills are excellent, he will never have the driving ability of Chris Harris. Chris Harris is the best car journalist out there.
This is not a car review, it is a short film. I admire your tone. No flashy excitement but real emotional expression. Kudos & keep on with your presentation style.
I actually still really like the interior of the Vantage. It came from the time we're you had all the digital shenanigans but also buttons for everything and didn't need to fiddle through hundreds of touchscreen menus but after learning the car you can blindly find and press what you want.
The legendary sound of the starter motor on V12 Astons...sounds as good as the engine itself! 😍 Loved the review, as always! You will be hitting 1M pretty soon!
It’s not only a review, it’s the explanation of a way of life. Holy crap, we are officially the old school guys. Keep going Catchpole, we are witnesses of the end of an era.
Henry C is the daddy of all RUclips car reviewers. Glorious drone footage over the superb backdrop of Exmoor. I recently followed a very well driven DBS V12 from Minehead to Lynmouth on my 1250 GSA. Great fun without venturing too far into licence losing territory!
I'm just a simple peasant who valet parks all kinds of cars. I get to drive a vast array of cars, slowly. At best I punch the accelerator up to 35MPH. I've been in countless Porsche 911s, BMW M cars, AMGs, Bentleys, and a smattering of Ferraris , Lamborghinis, McLarens. Then there's the Teslas, Taycans, eTrons and Polestars. My absolute favorite is the V8 Vantage. Even going slow it just sounds friggin awesome. The interior is sublime. The view stupendous. It's badass. Love the videos you guys produce. It keeps the dream alive
Nice, but I wouldn't be able to get past the fact that I could have a V8 Vantage and another great car for the same money. Another excellent video though.
Not going to lie this two tone color with the back wing looks insane. It looks somewhat similar to what the Alpine A110S updated version and I love the design!
Very interesting that Top Gear saw the last generation of V12 vantage as a very special swan song that transcended its factual properties and now Mr. Catchpole views this generation similarly.
One of the best cinematic car reviews ever! I got feelings of the old F12 top gear review. That epic intro and outro with those crimson skies Oh my god 🥰. I wish the very best for carfection. Also you guys deserve 10 mil
Great videos as always. If I may be a little critical I'd love a bit more work on the sound part, I wanted to hear more of that V12 and more clearly, maybe have a few seconds dedicated to that when reviewing these kinds of engines!
Great video Henry and on my favourite road near me.. and favourite bend! You must tell me when there and can buy you a coffee at Lynmouth and show you some other amazing quiet roads.
I think this is one of the best car video I have ever seen in quite a long time. Carfection always has the top class cinematography among all the car medias. But God above, Henry is a great story teller. I think partly that's because Henry has a rather calm but special voice that can make me calm down and focus on the film, which I think he is currently the very best at this range among all the car journalist. I don't know if anyone remember that back in 2009, in the end of the TopGear Season 13, actually the Episode 7, Jeremy Clarkson had a rather special review to a silver V12 Vantage, which was the lastest model in 2009. Unlike usual in that 4 mins film he didn't speak quite a lot, but just let the audience listen to the sound of that glorious 6.0L NA V12 engine with the despair BGM from the movie "28 Days Later", and remind us that big litre NA V12's are dying. Now, after a decade and a bit more, this journey has finally come to an end. And unquestionably both Carfection and Henry, also the AstonMartin has done an incredible job, and what a way it is to give the Aston V12s such a Grand Finale. -----Genuinely RESPECT from 17yrs old student.
The last naturally aspirated V12 with a manual transmission was in fact an Aston Martin V12 Vantage (the latest model of that very car Jeremy presented). That will change with the arrival of Murray's Automotive T50 though.
Great Vid. LEGS? Did not notice nor focus on them. Don't apologize, it's your vid, and it's great. Keep going your path, and you'll win the missing subscribers I am sure
can you believe I unavertedly watched TG one first? I was thinking in to not seen Rory. I don't know what happened. Now is all back to normal, I was Carfected.
Saw the new V8 Vantage up close here in the states for the first time and my first thought was that’s one of the best looking cars I’ve ever seen. Aston nailed it on the styling. Blowing up the grille on this v12 vantage doesn’t look as good to me
Not sure on this Aston Martin, the V8 to a V12 for an extra 100k. A few tech upgrades but they are necessary, performance almost the same but again it’s a V12. Great review again Henry, hope a million is around the corner for Carfection !!!!!
Beauty and the beast that is all you can say about Aston Martin’s every single Aston simply beautiful and the beast well that is the engine obviously it’s not the old beautifully 6 L V 12 that was in the DB9 It’s just nice to have a V 12 back in an Aston
A strange observation of mine, but the seat Henry is in is moving an awful lot. I don’t recall watching another review, or having a sports car of my own which has a seat that moves around within the cabin so much. Of course it’s only small movements in the grand scheme of things, but surprising nonetheless. Fabulous review as always.

Henry Catchpole is really the greatest automotive journalist. His storytelling abilities are unmatched in this space. Great Car!

agreed but the lack of an objective view, gets a bit tiresome.

Nah,@@maddog4390- if A.M. made more of this car, it might be less rare, but would be no less special than it is now. 🙂
all subjective mate, Aston has always been seen as an old man's car.

The legendary sound of the starter motor on V12 Astons...sounds as good as the engine itself! 😍
Loved the review, as always! You will be hitting 1M pretty soon!
I came JUST to say this
Is it legendary? Wouldn't the 'legendary' sound be from the motors that Aston actually made - not the Mercedes items, tweaked and transplanted?
time code please? I love starter motor sounds

I loved the running/driving analogy! Extremely insightful
This makes me think of Clarkson’s epic video on the old V12 Vantage. Surely this will be one of the last non-hybrid V12s?
