I'm currently a student and I have learned so much from your videos. You Matt Beck are who I'm doing my mentor portfolio on for graduation. I wasnt comfortable cutting hair, I dreaded getting haircuts at school, but now I get excited about them. Thank you so much for all you do for future and licensed Cosmetologist.

Can you elaborate as to how you choose the angle + measure the length when the hair gets too wide for your fingers and you have to divide it into two? And How do you take the head shape into consideration and know exactly where to divide the hair?

If it weren't for the bad tutorials on how to cut split ends on RUclips (i.e., twirling little bunches of hair and cutting the frayed ends that stick out), I would not have discovered your gem of a channel. Thanks to you, I've been cutting my own face framing hair with better results than I ever received under the hands of any hairstylist (even tones that charge exorbitant fees)
I would love to support you and your craft beyond being a suscriber, please let me know what is the best way. Also, please make more videos on IDENTIFYING SPLIT ENDS and the correct way to eliminate them.

I just cut my hair around my face with this ! I have layered hair and a side part and I always ask the stylist if it's a different process when it's a side part. They tell me yes but then they end up cutting my hair styled for middle part. I noticed it now when I cut it, all the sections didn't even match up in length because they hadn't cut it using the side part technique 😑 It's fixed now and looks great! The hair falls nicely.

That makes way more sense than having "identical" layers cut that end up looking totally asymetrical, with one layer ending up being way too heavy and thick and the other one just nice (I have a ton of hair, so it might be the other way around for other people, I don't know). I mean, I know the lenght of the layers is technically ok with the other method, but I do not like the result ok my hair, whereas I am pretty sure this technique would do wonders for me...
Thanks for sharing, next time I decide to have my hair cut, I think I will be able to explain my problem and what I want :)
