  • Benedetto Silva was captured as a young boy from his hometown in Angola in Africa for the purpose of being a displayable court oddity. Although his first portrait served to catalog and in some ways humiliate him, his memory and dignity as a human being continues on today.

Getting comfy for the winter I see. I really like the mystery that surrounds this topic and the more historical background for the video. Although this story was rather sad. In the second portrait it looks as though he has learned to hide himself from the world. I just hope Benedetto found some peace or happiness in his life, no longer having to hide himself.

That's true, there looks to be some kind of emotional wall in the 2nd portrait. Obv just speculation, but it also seems to me that by then he's learned plenty well how to "play the game" to survive in that European society. He's learned which mask to put up and when.
And not for winter, blanket-life is all year round! 😁
