- The Ecstasy of St. Teresa (de Avila) by Gian Lorenzo Bernini is iconic for its beauty and realistic capture of the human form but also its erotic undertones. The message of the work is meant to be one of divine love and communion with God as seen by a devout member of the catholic church, but the artist has infused a more sensual message of love in his work. Was he so wrong though?

An image of this sculpture is on the cover of St Teresa' of Avila's collected works. In her writings she describes different levels of prayer. While I have never reached the intensity of her spiritual communion, I have experienced a heartbursting joy that feels too intense to maintain. It is beyond erotic or any other human experience.

The ecstasy from the touch of God is aeons above the human orgasm. If you ask me, it is strong enough to make you youthful again. Just a few steps away from being converted into an angel. It is such a beautiful experience thT one can not but feel ecstasy.

Not sure if you've done a piece on Pavel Tchelitchew’s painting Hide and Seek ? because you mentioned Hamilton who did a very short video on it as one of his favorite paintings and oh my dog what a painting it is !

I think that’s a great idea. I do have a partially written one about Van Gogh and absinthe. But it ran away from me and became this huge biography about his life. So I will just put it on the shelf for a bit and come back to it later lol
