    Pop Culture has a chokehold on today’s generation in many ways, and numerous ideas have arisen from the pop- industry that continues to influence people around the world. Antony Gordon has worked closer than most with some of the biggest names in the industry and the learnings he has taken from observing these people and how they affect us, are not few. He joined the TEDxHultLondon stage to dismantle the notion that a happy life equals a pain-free life, which he cleverly breaks down and demonstrates through his own life experiences. Antony explains that the reality that is shown by influential celebrities, a pain-free and blissful life, is far from the truth, and it’s important to understand it in order to live a fulfilled and happy life. Antony Gordon's background, training, and experience, including academic excellence; the representation of some of the most prominent personalities in sport and entertainment; select training in the human psyche blended with his success as a stand up comic and raw authenticity places him in a unique position to ignite a spark in a dark world and to become the voice for a generation looking for tools and direction to navigate through the landmines along the journey of life. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

      Khloe - one of the easiest tried and tested tools to ensure you live a happy life is to focus on being gratitude. By so doing, you train your mind to see what you HAVE rather what you DO NOT HAVE and THINK YOU NEED. Keeping a "Gratitude Journal" is one of the most powerful way to rewire your outlook and change the way you see your life.

      @zeldasesta - two of the most profound growth points I see with many people is FIRSTLY, the realization that so many people postpone their life until "everything is in place" - not realizing that this way of thinking is based on a false premise and SECONDLY, taking active steps to begin to DANCE IN THE RAIN! It sounds like you can check off the box of PAIN POINT # 1. Now you need to move to PAIN POINT # 2 - Plan and Execute. Start by writing out where you would like to be 3 years from now and 3 steps that you can take TODAY to move in that direction ...

      Timo - you are 100% correct my friend. Sadly, the majority of people focus mainly on the body which results in a feeling of emptiness and living a life that lacks meaning and purpose

    Pain is not the enemy; it's a part of life that shapes us and makes us stronger.

      @Judeblyth3603 - you are 100% correct - once you change the paradigm in which you perceive your life and circumstances, you will find yourself no longer asking WHY? (WHY me? WHY now etc) and pivot to more productive questions like HOW? (HOW do I move forward? HOW do I respond in the best way to this situation?

    The concept of happiness vs. fun is intriguing. It reminds me of the age-old debate about hedonism and eudaimonia. Can we truly find lasting happiness without pursuing a meaningful life?

    • @antonygordon4782
      @antonygordon4782 7 месяцев назад

      One of the subtle unsaid subtexts of my TEDxTalk is exactly your point @carolanneoswald2551 - i.e. - happiness cannot exist without meaning being that happiness is connected to our souls which cannot thrive in a nihilistic existence.

    People are either moving towards pleasure or away from pain. Everything we do is either one or the other and life gets so much easier once you get that.

    • @antonygordon4782

      @lam-ob-liv-ious - that is one of the reasons which made Scott Peck's classic "The Road Less Traveled" such a classic - he started the book with the point of departure that "life is tough." Once you know that life will not dedicate itself to your happiness, you have won half the battle.
