Jocko explains that good leaders have humility. Poor or bad leaders don't have humility at all. Jocko is right about building a relationship with other people. Because doing this can save your life, if you ever are in a really bad or dangerous, life-threatening situation. Or even if, God Forbid...someone abduct you and then is torturing you...only way to get yourself out of that situation alive is to build a relationship with that person behaving so abusively towards you. So you can get away and escape to safety.
In my experience, people who aren't "team players" usually have some mistrust of the leadership structure. Folks who's NCO's tried to frame them for something wrong so they could chew them out for it in front of Gunny, or who's higher ups tried to sabatoge their efforts to take college classes when off duty because "I couldnt do that when I was a Lance so why should he?", or Staff NCO's trying to make boots help them pay off their loan on the 2002 Mustang that they bought right outside base for $40k at 25% interest. In my opinion and my experience, this is how people become shitbags. So they just decide that there's no point putting in real dedication at a unit where it doen't mean anything. So I think, at least in a Marine Corps context, it's important to establish that you're not some manipulative careerist who's going to throw them under the bus to impress a higher up.
@@artiew8718 If you think exploitation only started post-WWII, you're incredibly misinformed, or just a touch too optimistic about the past. People have taken advantage of people for as long as civilization has been around.
@@Chaosdude341 my comment said nothing about exploitation. it was about people conscripted to fight a war with an actual mission, not having those things in their mind. they probably just wanted to get done with the war and go back to their normal lives.
Echo, leave some minutes from your biceps training and activate the automatic subtitles, just one minute for video... please. I need it to understand you (Echo & Jocko) better. Please, your biceps are big enough. Edit: I'm from Spain and my english, specially the listening, is low. ;)
Of course, if you are native english speaker or an expert on the language. I'm from Spain and my english, specially the listening, is low. I had to specify more my request.

Can't we all behave like jerks though at times , but I do see your point the twist in the pysche happens so quickly it is as if we need to see all this shadow stuff out there and then engineer the sitauation so we can prove to ourselves it is , when the real problem is beng avoided the inner jerk ? Sorry Jacko Victor Frankl , stressed and tired making mistakes If you want a really good read try Herman Hesse the glass bead game now that's a ..book an an a half ! READING is great I am totally with you on that one ! better than a quick fix on the net but still; can be part of this self avoidance . Go well R
God damn Echo is derpy...Seriously man, spend 20 minutes a day reading children books out loud then slowly move your way up to higher reading levels. Treat that shit like the gym. Focus on slow, proper form, then ease your way into a good flow. Whenever you start to stutter it's because you're mind is moving faster than your mouth so just slow your speech delivery. If you're drinking coffee or other stimulants before the podcast then stop, it's not helping.
The messages in Echo's stories are subtle yet very deep!
Leave Echo alone. These guys are providing amazing advise and changing lives. Just stop looking at his pipes.
5:08 - GOOD

Can't understand the video? Good. Now you can go out and get better at English.
🤣 Echo too funny
It's lack of communication and connection.
In the example of the girl hostage, she blabbed and blabbed so much that the kidnapper let her go because he couldn't take her anymore.
