So cool!! I did not realize that his main character is a fifth grader! I am buying this series when we go to the states this summer and my daughter will be a fifth grader this year!! And...she has already faced several of these challenges and this will help her overcome more ! And it will also help my soon to be second grader deal with his bully who is going to be a fifth grader! We have been dealing with him and I am sure this will help with him and his parents as well.

This book is one of the reasons I have so much respect for Willink. Many adults seem to default to not taking the challenges kids face seriously, and he's the exact kind of person you'd expect to have that approach. But he doesn't. Which isn't to say that uncle Jake lets Marc off easy, he holds him to a pretty high bar, but that's because he knows with the right training and guidance Marc is entirely capable of meeting and surpassing what Jake expects of him, and he does. Kids are capable of a hell of a lot more than we give them credit for. They just need guidance and support, not adults helicoptering over them protecting them from every little thing that might go wrong.

Well said! We live in a Helicopter Society after COVID and the overprotective soccer moms running around! For adults, I’d recommend Antifragile and any writings on Stoicism. Rip the bandaid off and grab life by the horns.

I got the three books and my eldest 13yr old has read the first and is on the second. My 9 yr old is reading the first now and is right for about her age. I'm reading it too at the same time and we are talking about it too.
    Thanks Jocko

Didn't he steal $1mil from fellow SEALs? Seems like a good reason to me. Our SEALs deserve the best, including hanging onto their money or investing it in something that will benefit them later.
