    getting 5 hours of sleep (11pm-4am) is proven to damage your brain across the board. Your chances of getting Alzheimer's disease, regressing long and short term memory, and congestive heart failure all go up. Don't believe me? do some true and honest research yourself. I agree that more time in the morning is so helpful, and coffee definitely makes you forget that you are lacking sleep. I wish we all had a few extra hours in the day. But it simply is not healthy. Especially for those with brains still growing. If you are under the age of 25, your brain is most likely still growing. around 8 -9 hours of sleep is needed for those with growing brains, and 6-8 for those brain is not growing. Like I said, do your own research.

      A new study has discovered that when people sleep, special lymph channels in the brain called the “glymphatic system” actually open up and drain dangerous neurotoxins from the brain into the cerebral spinal fluid. (1-4) The study suggested it takes about 6-8 hours of sleep to complete the brain drain plumbing process, which is compelling evidence that getting the correct amount of sleep matters. ---- various tumours are more likely to occur for example if those toxins are not released

      You make a good point though, besides the humor. The world does seem to be getting faster and faster and we're all trying to pack more stuff into our lives. I think I heard that a fairly large percentage of people in Japan have been dropping dead from exhaustion, due to over working. Productivity is great, but maybe we're too focused on that and not enough on taking it easy and "smelling the roses" so to speak. I guess I'm trying to say that most of us, or at least myself, should be striving for balance in life.

    I like this mindset, I really do, but in practice we know that 8 hours of sleep is *essential* to a healthy body and a healthy mind. Waking up at 4:30 means being asleep at 20:30, maintaining a social life or giving time to your family is almost impossible in this time frame.
    Don't let this mindset fool you guys, sleep is just as important as training or diet.

      New research suggests that lack of sleep allows the brain to develop Alzheimers. Both Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher boosted that slept 6 hours a day, then they both suffered from the same brain disease. Also training 3 hours before bedtime increase your core body temperature, that also interferes with the quality of one's sleep. Going off the research, Casey is sadly leaving himself short in later life just to be productive today. Time will tell.

      @@uilmandala8609 Part of that is recovery. Getting less sleep than you need is like lifting weights or doing hill sprints. Your body gets tired and needs to recover. But, it's good at ignoring it as long as you keep pushing. That moment when you sit down (or, in this case, lie down for more than four hours), your body moves into recovery and it does not want you going anywhere. Sleep for 7 to 8 hours a night every night for a month and you will be changed forever.

      sleep is not about how long you sleep its about how effectivly you sleep. while sleeping you are not actualy recovering 100% of the times. som people actualy have a rare condition that makes them recover 100% of the time they sleep so they get away with 3-4hours no problem sleep. abusing sleeping meds can allso effect your bodys way of resting. iv had periods of my life where i could only sleep for 2-2,5hours per night while wakeing upp every 20-30min but still be able to go about my day working out,playing video games and going to work. i allso had this one week where me and my friends did amfetamin and ADHD medicin for 8days straight. no sleep minmal food like i ate maby 1skittles bag of candy during that time.and tons of water and drugs and then i whent to work and worked (you do feel exhausted in your body but you still have energy from the drug to push on) the thing is the human body adapts to what it needs to do

      +vinniesmyyth. I can agree with the idea that the early hours are the most productive for some, for others it's the late hours. No matter when you decide to sleep, you should try to get your 8 hours. Casey is getting what now? 5.5 hours between 11 pm and 4:30 am? In the video they try to make it sound like discipline creates more time, and to a certain degree it probably does, but at the end of the day Casey is still sleeping 2.5 hours less than he should, which is proven "HORRENDOUS FOR YOUR HEALTH!" to quote Awesomeness Hippopotamus. The problem is that they're making it sound like it's a positive and healthy thing to skip sleep.

    • @mrtnmch
      @mrtnmch 6 лет назад +44

      No, 6 hours is NOT enough (read Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker). The thing is - the lack of sleep affects you (and your performance) even though you don't realise it. It's like when you're drunk - you think you're not nearly as drunk as you really are. Get 7-9 hours. And yes, that 1 hour makes a difference.

I never knew an answer for my anger and rage, until I heard him say "Maybe it's not my fault, but what can I do about it?" It's indeed not my fault that my parents are both shit, but feeling sorry for oneself is the most useless thing you can do for yourself. It's time for me to ask myself, "What can I do about this situation?"

    Up at about 0430 and then bed at say 2300 (if he sleeps at the gym).
    That's 5 and a half hours sleep.
    Less than 7 to 8 hours sleep a day WILL reduce your immune system.
    If you want to be getting up at 0430, you need to be asleep by 2100.

    Why We Sleep: The New Science of Sleep and Dreams
    I love the video, but not every one needs to wake up at 4 AM, if 9 or 10 AM works better for you and you can be productive at night (when people are asleep and social media is dead etc.) you can do that too. Don't feel too pressured by this video.

    • @hayleys4627
      @hayleys4627 6 лет назад +8

      puremonk216 exactly! People have different circadian rhythms and are productive at different times of the day. Many people are much more suited to getting up later and going to bed after midnight. Plus every individual has a different minimum amount of sleep that they can function on. Getting up early on 5 hours sleep is only going to work for certain people. I’ll take my advice from a research psychologist that specializes in sleep, not a Navy Seal.

    • @pianopaws88
      @pianopaws88 6 лет назад

      This exactly. I used to work 8a-8p shift at the clinic with documentation due by 7 am the next day. So I'd stay up late doing it rather than risk running into problems just as things were due the next day. Getting up at 5 wouldn't have been enough. I'd have to get up at 2 to start my day. (And yes. All told my work day was frequently 16-17 hours long).
      Now I have a baby. I still would rather stay up late doing stuff and sleep in as late as possible instead of trying to get up super early before her. If I do that it's like ive worn myself down before the onslaught of toddlerhood even begins.

    Frankly arguing that everyone can function on 5 hours sleep a night is a bit ridiculous and against scientific evidence... most people are VERY unproductive (even confused I would say) on that amount of sleep... it is not weakness... it is how their brains work and the amount of sleep they need. Unhealthy advice here Casey.

      There are people who look up to Neil Armstrong as well as other influential figures. If someone were to say that they look up to Neil Armstrong, would you advise them not to since you don't need advice from some guy like Neil Armstrong? Hence, why I called you out on being arrogant. The guy in the video is successful in his own right and people can choose to follow him. No need to be condescending.
      On the contrary, we don't all "put on our pants" the same way. Some of us in this world don't have enough to put on anything resembling pants and others have enough money to put on designer jeans/dress pants. Point being, we all lead different lives and go about them in different ways. So sometimes it's helpful learning from others.
