The coolest thing about your videos is that you basically have really good footage from things from a while ago and it’s almost like when you filmed it you expected to make a bunch of stories about your life when you were older
I don't know if you guys watched the movie Everest, but the people missed their turnaround by a bit, hit a storm, and then took a nap and died - easily could've been Casey
Don't watch the movie. Instead, read the book it's based on: "Into thin Air" by Jon Krakauer. It's breathtaking and describes the horror from a first-person experience
Casey - You are very lucky to be alive. The danger here is not the cold or lack of endurance. It is lack of oxygen (hypoxia). This starts happening above 12,000 ft. This mountain is 22,828 ft tall. One key symptom of hypoxia is confusion. Basically, you start making very bad decisions.
This is why you have to put your oxygen mask on first on an airplane because at 25,000 feet you have 15 seconds to put on the mask until you get to the point where you get confused because after those 15 seconds you don't have the mental awareness to know you need to put the mask on
I climbed Aconcagua in 2003. Even though the group I was with had guides, they both got got Hypoxia on summit day and wondered off and left us. I remember stumbling up to the summit by myself, taking twice as long as I had no idea where I was going. As you were having blackouts you were very lucky to not have fallen over on the summit approach, those big boulders at the top are loose and constantly moving about - at one point I was climbing over them with crampons, I remember thinking that this is probably not a good idea. It felt like I was drunk and hungover but lucid and walking underwater, once I got to the summit I just collapsed - I didn’t even take a photo or look around, I just wanted to get back down again.
It takes a lot to do that, like he said the pain, the cold, the strength, the sickness, I don’t understand people who do these things, you are an amazing courages person.
Its interesting to hear past stories from your life, lessons learned and experiences gained. All of these have amounted to the wise well grounded casey that we see today.
SKO Bird aayyy, I’ve done Mt. Adams, St. Helens, Rainier and Mt. Hood. It’s hard watching people climb mountains with no experince and show it online. Don’t climb unless you are prepared, don’t fuck with mountains

trust me, I know the feeling of being so close to the summit, in a hiker my self. I just have not had the opportunity to climb about 10k. Reckless or not, what you achieved was incredible
As a mountaineer watching this and reading this it is your choice to go up or down so I understand your point but it’s our choice if we take the risk or not
David Di Franco you are missing the real point of this story. In telling this story, he is attempting to talk some sense to those who are reckless. Like my father did for me, he is telling us his mistakes he made so we don't repeat his. To repeat, my father told me daily a mistake he had made in the course of his life. My father did a wonderful thing in doing this, for I avoided so much heartache in my life. Casey is doing this on a grand scale for all of us. But as the saying goes, "pearls before swine".
Something similar happened with me and my brother in law. Went to this mountain, was like 2000 meters above the sea level. On the way, the only thing that kept pushing me was how i much hated the idea of my mom always wanting a son to "fill the house" like literally talking (big and fat) and how much i wanted this to change... I made it. We made it. Great panorama. Great feeling... But turning back, after our phones started working, i found out that my dad had an infarct and passed away. The most horrible ending ever.

I can't imagine how many opportunities could have been wasted if I didn't have courage to go after them. That includes having this channel, being in a management role, having the people who actually care about me for who I am, freelance gigs, being an ambassador in a creative community and now I'm also planning on honing my public speaking skills through joining a toastmaster club and these all happened in 2023. Climbing above 20,000ft without proper acclimatization is quite fatal. It can lead to High-altitude pulmonary edema. Fluid starts accumulating in your lungs and your brain starts swelling which can lead to delusional disorder. Yours was a classic case of "Summit Fever". Thats the reason why theres always a team leader at base camp who makes the decision to summit or not-to-summit in any organised expedition, because often times at high altitudes people become delusional and try to achieve the impossible.
Wow - that's altitude for you, man. I went up one of the Annapurnas in May, the summit was just over 7500m. I'd done some altitude before but nothing like that and, like you mentioned in the video, everything hurts, your confused and all you want is rest. A bunch of French climbers and a Russian guy (who got lost and fell into a gulley) died in the region when we were up there. You're a lucky bloke, Casey. All's well that ends well eh!
I really like mountains, and almost died few times, and I can tell you that you get this insane adrenaline rush towards the summit, like nothing I can describe. So I am not surprised Casey got swayed.
Aconcagua is a mountain in the Principal Cordillera of the Andes mountain range, in Mendoza Province, Argentina. Congratulations on reaching the summit!

glad you're still with us brother!🙏
This is one of the people who gave me the courage to start my RUclips channel 2 months ago about self development and now have 74 subs and almost 55 hour watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so much lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place
KEEP GOING MAN YOU GOT THIS!!!
Boy you got 2k subs now keep it up!!!
@@albertoaguilar9773 Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my RUclips channel about holistic health. I literally could have died back when I was 14 years old due to major depression but here I am right now replying to you, a RUclipsr, who's full of fulfillment and dedication to help others to be a better version of themselves. I ain't better than anyone else but my old self. That's all that really makes this RUclips thing more meaningful and enjoyable. Thanks so much for your support! I am hoping that you can join me with this endless personal development journey! :)
@@VinOnline Thank you!
What I really focus on is the value of the content and what I’m truly passionate about while helping others! I'm glad that I'm foolish enough to believe that I can actually start making money through my passions. I've never thought that I'd be able to gain 1K subs faster. It started with writing them all down on a piece of paper. A paper that serves as a reminder for me to go after what I want even through hard times. I'm not bragging about my accomplishments but simply hoping that this message can also inspire others to believe in themselves.
@@nathananderson8720keep uploading bro! Almost 3k

The singer in the beginning legit sounded like a car alarm
It's called opera :) She was actually pretty good.
+ Demily Yeah, crazy times. People take Britney Spears for music and an opera singer for a car alarm.

When Casey was on the mountain, he looked like the main character from the movie, Everest.
I rate the authenticity in the raw footage on the mountain. no censorship
Liam Kelton well you know except for the actual censorship at the end there.
First video i've seen of yours and OHMYGOD! Subscribed and can't wait to see more.
This is one of your best vlogs so far. Incredible story
That's a pretty serious situation to be in being lost on a mountain but you guys went down safe and that's what matters
You're gonna have some crazy stories to tell your grandkids!
All's well that ends well eh!
thats really interesting man well done!!!
I really like mountains, and almost died few times, and I can tell you that you get this insane adrenaline rush towards the summit, like nothing I can describe.
So I am not surprised Casey got swayed.
