Sorry the weather wasn’t exactly as you ordered but it is Alaska after all. 🙄 Seems like you weren’t sold on cruising to start with. Maybe being better prepared with your outerwear would’ve been helpful to get off the ship more and enjoy the beauty that still exists despite the cooler temperatures and rain. Honestly this was the whiniest video (more than the usual) with the constant negativity even when the sun was shining, it was almost laughable! 😂
I’m sorry you didn’t get the trip you wanted but crying on a cruise ship because of the weather…… you know there’s roads up there if you want to stay an extra night or go home earlier…. I’ve been watching your videos for years now but haven’t heard anything like this ever before, gosh you seem just like the typical American Karen’s and ken’s in this video. Weather is weather and “demanding” to see wildlife is sort of…I just don’t believe this video!
We stayed in Oceanside RV Park for 3 nights and the state park one night at the beginning of September. The views were amazing and the managers were very friendly. We saw mama bears and their cubs at the state park at the bridge. For a rig your size I would stay in town and drive to the bridge. Our Alaska trip was a little over 4 months and almost 11,000 miles. We managed to do it with no reservations. I highly recommend you spending a summer there. Alaska, BC and the Yukon have so much natural beauty and wildlife to explore.
Chad and Tara, I honestly think you two would make boiling water interesting. 😊. Thanks for letting us come along these many years witnessing the love and respect you have for each other in good times, in medical slowdowns, in family excursions and get togethers, and keeping the main thing the main thing: each other.
The tv show Northern Exposure used a Red Tailed Hawk sound if I remember right. That may be why you thought the Bald Eagle sound different. Sometimes Bald Eagles sound like they are laughing at you.
I wish I would have seen more videos like this before we booked our cruise for September this year. Might be that Alaskan cruises are overrated. We missed the first port Juneau bc of the weather getting there and been on the ship for more than 2 days before the first port stop in Skagway which was amazing weather. Did a hike and took a tour all the way up to the Yukon. Ketchikan was super rainy as well and could not do anything. Glacier bay not good weather. Next time we will take a camper van to visit Alaska.
The one-way Alaska cruise is the way to go. I did this cruise in reverse earlier this year on a different Princess ship, and it was truly spectacular. Ours sailed into Glacier Bay NP, which was a once in a lifetime experience. The one- way cruises are the only way to do this, and only two ships a day are allowed into the bay. A very special opportunity. There is no bad weather in Alaska, just normal Alaska weather. But then, I live in the PNW so I gave up long ago. Expect it to be terrible, and you may be pleasantly surprised, but at least you won't be disappointed.
I cruised on the original Crown Princess with my late mother in the early 1990's to Alaska which was a wonderful experience and then later cruised the Caribbean on the current Crown Princess with my wife and daughter in the mid-2010's. Originally thought it was the same ship just rebuilt but later found out that the Crown had been sold and renamed and the current Crown was a new build. Wonderful ship. Our Alaska Cruise was Vancouver to Juneau, then onto Skagway (home of the White Pass Railway), Glacier Bay , and Ketchikan (where the Salmon and the fishermen go to spawn). Finally returning to our home base in Vancouver. It was a wonderful adventure with wildlife including early morning dolphins on the first morning followed by numerous seal, killer whale and sperm whale sighting off the bow and our private deck.
So sorry the weather didn't fully cooperate. I follow both RVer AND cruiser RUclipsrs. LOVE when both passions collide in not one, but TWO videos. Loved seeing both perspectives...yours and Phil & Stacy's. BTW, at 16:06, it looks like icy fingers grasping the top of the dark iceberg on the left. Creepy! 😂
Thanks guys!! You sure helped us decide not to go on a cruise to Alaska. We spent 3mos there last summer in RV, saw lots of bear and moose but you can’t get too close to “inside passage”, missing Juneau, and Sitka 😢. Great filming. Thanks
This was amazing, guys. Its a shame that it was raining on ya'll. Alaska is without a doubt one of my favorite places. If id known then what i know now, id have moved there 45 years ago. If you hunt, fish or just love nature, you'll fall in love with it up there. I was told when you dress for the day, dress for all four seasons, rain and shine, and you'll be set for the day. Glad ya'll got to see some things there, seemed like ya'll enjoyed yourselves. Now you see why when you go once, you want to go back. Hope the part 2 is asgood as this one. God bless ya'll and stay safe on your travels there.
Some Jurassic Park clips would have been very appropriate on the jeep tour. LOL The part where Jeff Goldblum asks if there will eventually be dinosaurs on the dinosaur tour.
We stayed the summer in Haines this year. I thought you were gonna get our Reflection 367bhs in the shot at Haines Hitch-Up RV Park, but just missed it.😊 Definitely recommend the park and also recommend taking the Cassiar hwy to get there and back. Don’t waste your time on the Alcan, really nothing to see.
Too bad the weather was crappy! It does rain a lot in that part o th world. It’s a lot like Vancouver, rains a ton there!!! It’s beautiful watching the trip.
The Crown Princess is a lil old. The Discovery was awesome. Sorry you weren’t able to fly, but we did . We walked on a flippin Glacier. The Helicopter ride and scenery were over the top. Walking around on the Glacier and seeing Crevasse’s were great. We got to sip water running thru the stream of the Mendenhall Glacier. I am a Helicopter freak and it scored major points. Work with the weather and be prepared. Rain gear possible. Do-Do happens as far as weather goes. We lucked out. I hope you enjoyed the beauty and the food at least! We’ve done Princess 4 times to Alaska. After 4 visits, we good. Glad you had friends with you ! We also book lots of tours from Viator , they were great, and got us back with plenty of time.
You really need to take a RV overland to AK. But your rig may be way too big for that. Cruises are a waste of money. Can't see very much from the ship. We towed our 24' Rockwood from PA to AK and back through Canada to PA. Saw so much you would never see and do from a ship. We drove our pickup from Whitehorse to Skagway on a day trip. There and back was a beautiful drive, but Skagway was nothing to write home about. Three large ships let off thousands of people who just walked around aimlessly. But love all your videos. Keep going!
Cruising is a very different world indeed. Has it's major benefits, verses the downsides. We've been re-routed for hurricanes a few times, however, we have always found something else that was fun to do. Plus, major advantage is the food and drink choices on a ship with the best part, no prep or clean-up is needed on your part!! lol... Looks like you and the Someday crew had a fun time despite the disappointment of the helo tour. And the River Boat Tour looks amazing!!! Thanks for sharing that.
Wow! Not knocking on Today is Someday, but you adapted and overcame and made a great video! With all the weather. They went a different way and showed us the ship, which was invaluable information too!. We got to see a lot, if we watch both channels. Great job by both!
My wife and I went on a very similar princess cruise in late August. We had our heli tour cancelled as well for weather. But we booked a whale watching excursion at the last second. Loved it. Our favorite highlight on the cruise was Glacier Bay. Curious if you all made into the national park?
On your Jeep tour I couldn't believe how beautiful all the beautiful evergreen trees were, they are my favorite tree and I was just in awe, so I loved seeing them. I see lot's of wildlife right where I live here in western Colorado and saw everything in Yellowstone when I was there except wolves, but saw the rest of the big ones. Here where I live I was camping on the local mountain and twice came within 5-6 ft of bears trying to take away or get into cooler's.
Several years ago we took an inside passage cruise on a different cruise company. We had 80 degrees and sun in Juneau, got to do all the excursions. But our time at sea was horrible…75mph winds, waves so bad it rolled me out of the bed and puking. It was so bad our ship had to respond to a mayday call for a fishing boat that capsized, so we had to do an at-sea rescue….which was exciting and the men were ok but were Canadian which caused all kinds of other issues with being on an international ship and damaged one of our boat’s engines.
We would not mind going to Alaska; however, doing a cruise doesn’t really appeal to us. In regards to the eagles. Most TV shows and movies use a hawk sound for the eagle.
Except in Juneau it’s only accessible by boat, plane, or helicopter. Soooo ! And when you are on a cruise ship you at the same spot and what they offer.
Love the history of the places you have traveled to, gives you more details about the places you have been, thank you for all you do to help with full-time rvers 😊😊😊😊
i would love to see alaska but no way am i getting on one of them, yup fallow both of them Love RVing but i think the ship makes to big of a foot print on our enviroment , that and i would never get on a ship that big no way .
My son and I loved RVing the Kenia Peninsula in AK. We really liked dry camping at the Seward city campgrounds especially when we could be just a few feet from the bay. The views were spectacular! On our way back to Anchorage, we found this little hidden campground off the Seward HWY called Renfro’s Lakeside Retreat. It was tucked away with cabins and grass RV sites with power and water. There was a stunning lake just through the trees. It was amazing!
Looks amazing! You were talking about how you were surprised at what a Bald Eagle sounds like. Next time you watch a movie that has a Bald Eagle in it, you will probably hear a Red-tailed Hawk, which has a much more menacing sound. Hollywood seems to think a Bald Eagle sounds wimpy. LOL! Looking forward to the rest of your trip!
Bummer. We had the same experience of weather related cancellations in Aug 2022 Not much fun and some of these stops are really nothing at all if you can't do the special excursions such as the helicopter over the Glaciers. We only saw the bears in the habitat museum was just ok. the whole trip was dissapointing.....
Great video by both RUclipsrs. Hoping to go in June 2024. We did enjoy RVing in Alaska in 2017. Loved the Bald Eagles. Sorry you had such crappy weather.
Watching your cruise reminds me of ours this year too. We took Princess lin as well, but took a different route. But we saw Juano, Glacier Bay. The more north we went ,up to Denali, bee saw more of a wild life. I think we saw most of the wild life except Caribou But even in July weather was the same except we got maybe 3 days in the 70s. There was 2-3: days at sea were foggy, couldn't see anything. Will you go to the Denali? If so ,go to Pete's tree house, that looks at the Denali. Breathe taking
Enjoying your Alaska Cruise. We did one in 2007 (land and sea with Princess). We drove the motorhome to Alaska in 2015 and again in 2022. Hanes was our favorite town. We stayed there at the Haines Hitchup RV park both times. Nice campground good 50AMP FHU. We saw lots of black and grizzly bears along the Laytuk Inlet late in the evening when they were fishing for salmon.
We live very near the Mississippi River across the river from St Louis. Bald Eagles use the bluffs along the Mississippi, as well as near by lakes and ponds, as a winter stop over. Many live year round in the bluffs along the river. And yes, their screech is very surprising the first time you hear them. Magnificent birds
We enjoyed watching your Alaska cruise video. We just returned from an RV trip there with two other couples. You really should go in your RV. We had so much time to see everything. Everywhere we drove was gorgeous views. In Haines we saw bears every day. We stayed several nights at each of the two campgrounds you showed there. The one on the water was our favorite even though it was a parking lot. We watched cruise ships come and go. In Seward, Skagway, Valdez, and Haines we were at campgrounds on the water. It was fun seeing Alaska from your view. I hope you will be able to see it through our eyes someday. 😊
We toured Alaska this year with Fantasy RV Tours. We stayed at Haines Hitch-up. Took ferry to both Juneau and Skagway. As I recall there are no roads to Juneau only fly in or boat in. KOA park in Seward was nice. Many of the RV parks in Alaska are on gravel or grass, mostly 30A service. We were fortunate to have decent weather most of the time in Canada and Alaska, that is if you don't count the snowstorm on the way to the Columbia Ice Fields or the tsunami warning at 11:00PM on the Homer Spit! Saw Mt Denali 3 of the 4 days in Denali. We booked an airplane tour to land on a glacier while in Denali. That was the highlight of the trip.
We stayed at Haines Hitch-Up RV park and it was very nice! Full hook up with nice laundry facility. Also directly across the street is a RV wash! But we prefer to be in the woods and we stayed at the Chillkoot State Recreational Site campground. First come, first serve and it was full while we were there. Not sure if your big toy hauler would fit. We have a 24' tt and had plenty of room. Loved Haines and saw sow grizzly with two cubs.
Any excursions booked though the cruise line that run late getting back, the ship will wait for you. Any you book yourself, you might be waving bye bye to your ship from the pier.
Thanks so much for letting us come along and enjoy Alaska with you. It's not that I couldn't go but when your body is arthritic that's something you really don't want to do. Safe travels, one day I'll get to see you guys on the West Coast hopefully. HOW aka House on wheels or fifth wheel .🚍 PS Soon LOL.
Our Alaskan cruise had us miss our off-road excursion in Ketchikan because someone went overboard in the night sailing. The ship was behind schedule due to circulating the waters in the dark as a search till the Coast Guard showed up. We never made it to that port. We took a much smaller ship that was able to sail right up to Hubbard Glacier. Seen seals floating on icebergs for wildlife. Watch parts of the Glacier break of and fall into the water. Highly recommended of cruising for this experience. Looking forward to part 2.
We went end of May on a Holland American ship. We tied in at all ports. Our Juneau excursion was also cancelled. We sat in Hubbard bay getting the same shots. 😂 we like the smaller ship (1900 guests) and may do Eastern Canada next summer.
Juneau is an amazing city, and you would have lots of fun just walking through the city. However, the helicopter ride to Mendenhall glacier is truly spectacular. Next time, try going to Alaska in late July, or early August.
Jaja, yea the calls most people associate with bald eagles is usually red tailed hawk calls. Radio stations, tv shows, movies, etc. all seem to use the red tailed hawk cry for them, never understood why.
Sorry about the crappy weather we have been fortunate to go 3 times now including a cruisetour to Denali which was spectacular and got to photo the northern lights 2 nights there (September). And the fall colors were crazy!
In 2009, my daughter and I also had our helicopter to a glacier & dog-sledding tour cancelled in Juneau. It was her 24th birthday and she was totally bummed out the entire day.
Chad n Tara, ♡♡ Chad's little hip 🕺 dance was cute. We have never been on a cruise 🛳 and it isn't likely we'll ever will. Going with you is the closest thing we'll come to. I watched the video twice as there are things I end up missing❤️ In spite of the disappointment you got 2c lovely sights, the ⛰️ the ocean, 🌇 , the 🦅🦅 snatching the fish (didn't know they could drown so easily). The swimming 🐻 was a riot. I follow another youtuber who was in the same area as you two. What a treat.❤
Amazing tour guys - Nice to see Phil and Stacey there too. - Sorry to hear weather and wildlife didn't go more in your favor - perhaps in Part II. - Cheers!
On excursions, we only go with the ship when it is cutting close to departure. They won't leave without you 😊 Yes cost is double than what you would pay direct, and yes, the ship keeps it ! Eagles also injure more people than bears or moose lol !
We are hoping to drive our rig to Alaska in 2025. Like you guys said we can set our own itinerary. My fear is we will love each place so much we will overstay and not have time to see everything we want to. Looking forward to next week's video.
Beautiful scenery! We took a small plane to a lake and landed on the lake. Our pilot also turned off the engine as we stood on the pontoons, watching the grizzlies. It was magnificent! ❤
We loved our trip earlier this year to Alaska. We took the 10 day cruisetour and also spent an extra day in Vancouver and were able to go out to Victoria Island and visit Butchart Gardens
I've never stayed at Oceanside RV park but I did check out their pricing and in November it was $60 a night for 50 amp full hookup so I'm thinking it will be pretty pricey during the season, but NO I checked for Next July and it was only $65 a night, really not too bad. I think that your so-called friend Stacy has been stealing your music sources, but that's OK you should share with your besties. Keep the good stuff coming guys and next time you go to Alaska take the RV, it makes bad weather not such a bummer.
There are many, many RV camping places. Also, in Alaska you can overnight in any unmarked roadside stops. We left Vegas in March and returned in October
Sorry the weather wasn’t exactly as you ordered but it is Alaska after all. 🙄
Seems like you weren’t sold on cruising to start with.
Climate change haha..

What month of the year did you guys go? Is this a September trip? Just curious on how to gauge the rain for that time of year.

I love cruising, I love RVing. There are pros and cons to both. Cruises to me are the easiest vacation to relax on, very little planning on my part.
You know all of southeast Alaska is a rain forest, right? 🤷♀️
All I heard was mostly whining…
I cruised on the original Crown Princess with my late mother in the early 1990's to Alaska which was a wonderful experience and then later cruised the Caribbean on the current Crown Princess with my wife and daughter in the mid-2010's. You should look at big truck big travel. They went camping in alaska
Wild life must not like you I love to watch wild life we feed the deer on the farm we also have spotted red fox and gray fox bob cats .
i would love to see alaska but no way am i getting on one of them, yup fallow both of them Love RVing but i think the ship makes to big of a foot print on our enviroment , that and i would never get on a ship that big no way .
I prefer the thumbnail in the email message over this one. This one is too "click-baitey".
I’m not a cruising fan too much rushing around and watching your watch and waiting to get on and off is a real pain.
The Eagels are cool. Here in Ontario, we're starting to see them come back.
Sorry you didn’t have better weather and see more wildlife on this part.
We were there in late July/August and were able to see the salmon running along with a bear and her cubs
Loved y’all’s videos from your cruise! It’s nice that you were able to share with friends!! Alaska is one of our favorite cruise spots!!
Do you two ever have fun! Stop complaining!
Did your Wander hat come from Clayton, Ga?
I so love that you tell about the place, history etc.
Great video! Love the conversation, too! Well done.
Wait 10 minutes the weather will change!!!
What month is this?
Thanks for the video.
Have you seen any issues travelling with a 40ft 5th wheel, are campground large enough for big rigs, thank you
We've found there are plenty of places around the country... 👍🏼
My son and I loved RVing the Kenia Peninsula in AK. We really liked dry camping at the Seward city campgrounds especially when we could be just a few feet from the bay. The views were spectacular!

Sorry that your weather was so bad. That is a real bummer. We went there, a couple weeks, I think, before you guys. (June 17-24).
I’ve watched every one of your videos and I missed the one that you were getting on a cruise ship. Which one was it?
It was at the end of this one: ruclips.net/video/zANt7-R16_E/видео.html
Our Alaskan cruise had us miss our off-road excursion in Ketchikan because someone went overboard in the night sailing. The ship was behind schedule due to circulating the waters in the dark as a search till the Coast Guard showed up. We never made it to that port. We took a much smaller ship that was able to sail right up to Hubbard Glacier. Seen seals floating on icebergs for wildlife. Watch parts of the Glacier break of and fall into the water. Highly recommended of cruising for this experience. Looking forward to part 2.
You have to go when the Salmon, are running or go rving in Alaska
Now we know for next time in the RV! 😊
- Cheers!
❤ you are my favorite u tube couple of all time. I wish you well and hope you keep producing these vid. Hey buddy give her a kiss in the videos .
On excursions, we only go with the ship when it is cutting close to departure. They won't leave without you 😊 Yes cost is double than what you would pay direct, and yes, the ship keeps it ! Eagles also injure more people than bears or moose lol !
Tara and Chad, I'm glad your trip went as planned😂😂😂. But on serious note, thanks again for sharing your adventures 👍🫡
We are hoping to drive our rig to Alaska in 2025. Like you guys said we can set our own itinerary. My fear is we will love each place so much we will overstay and not have time to see everything we want to. Looking forward to next week's video.
Cannot understand why some of the ships visit Hoona or Haines, both have not matured to offer very much to the tourist. Enjoyed your video.
What a awesome video! Alaska is definitely on our list! You guys do such a great job with the video!
you guys are soooo wimpy!!
Great video. Unfortunately it seems the prized crab is sent to markets that will fetch a higher price.
Just got back from a similar trip on holland and America. Epic glaciers. Back in the uk now ❤
Beautiful scenery! We took a small plane to a lake and landed on the lake. Our pilot also turned off the engine as we stood on the pontoons, watching the grizzlies. It was magnificent! ❤
After a 6 month deployment in winter to Adak, not looking to cruise Alaska. Lol
Body heat set closer
We loved our trip earlier this year to Alaska. We took the 10 day cruisetour and also spent an extra day in Vancouver and were able to go out to Victoria Island and visit Butchart Gardens
Way better than my last Med-IO cruise, thanks for sharing 😊
OK, Stacy was right about your camera!!! It’s awesome!
❤
Would love to see you on Phil & Stacy’s cruise in March!!
Beautiful video presentation. Thank you.
Love the river boat tour guys, Another bucket list addition D
Love you guys. Always awesome job. Thailand loves you.
Yea.. we were surprised about the price also! 👍🏼
So glad y’all got to see a bear! Can’t wait to see the rest of the cruise.
Tara, I'm with you - I love saying "fjord" and "Shipshewana" (town near Elkhart Indiana). Great video.
Yes! That's another fun work to say. LOL
Great video. Sorry for the weather you encountered...
There are many, many RV camping places. Also, in Alaska you can overnight in any unmarked roadside stops. We left Vegas in March and returned in October
Sounds like an epic trip!
Alaska is not on my bucket list for a cruise.
Beautiful trip, would love to see Alaska. What were the temperatures like during your trip, thanks again!
If memory serves, I think it was in the 50's most of the time.
