  • Woohoo! It’s PART 2 of our visit to Glacier National Park!! 😀🏔
    ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Click Show More ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
In part 2, we explore Columbia Falls and Black Slope Brewery about twenty minutes from the RV Park. We also investigate two huckleberry shops in the area for their outstanding selection of healthy treats (sarcasm intended).
We also get out to a local distillery for a $5 tasting of their rum, trapline (rye whiskey), cherrycello and huckleberry liqueur! Then a short walk up the hill to a little restaurant called Josephine's which had awesome food!
One evening, we took a boat tour on Lake McDonald with some friends we met at the park, Dave and Wendy (@thepupsandus on Instagram). The boat tour was a great way to get a different perspective of the park. It was 56 degrees and a little rainy at first, but we met some people with a cooler of beer and had a great time!
We also took a drive over to Whitefish on the recommendation of Dave and Wendy. A very cool little town, we ate some sushi and took a short walk around the shops with Daisy, who always draws lots of attention.
On our next to last day, we had more good weather, so we decided to get back on Lucile (our 2017 Indian roadmaster), and head back across Logan pass to the east down to St. Mary Lake. While at the visitor center at the pass, we had a run-in with a herd of bighorn sheep right in the parking lot! Very cool thing to see! Riding on the east side of the pass was quite a bit different than the ride up from the west, but still breathtakingly beautiful.
We know we missed a lot on this trip, but we look forward to going back to see Many Glacier and the rest of the east side!

I'm a bartender up here in the canyon, near West Glacier. The water; you get people coming in all day long, "Can I just get a glass of water?" Same in restaurants. It's a hassle. Just easier on everyone. The weather; you're in The Rockies, you're in Montana.

Another epic vid! And of course, my favorite park is the STAR of this vid. Since I can't get back to GNP since I live in Hawaii and it's a LOOONNNNGGG way there, I'll just enjoy your enjoyment of my park.
When you go back, be sure to hike from Logan Pass to the Hidden Lake overlook. I ALWAY spotted lots of critters - grizzlies, elk, moose, ptarmigans, mountain goats and sheep, and of course, hoary bellied marmots! I had one marmot lead me to his den and wanted me to come in. He kept making sure I was following him. The hike to the overlook isn't too hard and the views are really spectacular!
Also, you should go to Swiftcurrent Lake as it's breathtaking. The Many Glacier hotel is similar to Lake McDonald Lodge although much larger. I think you'll find a lot to love about this part of the park. West Glacier, as you've pointed out, is wetter (it's on the west side of the Continental Divide and so gets a lot of snow and rain) but the east side of the divide is dryer but still lots of water!
I look forward to seeing your vids of Yellowstone and Tetons. We really also love the Tetons for their absolutely unreal beauty. You should be able to see lots of critters while you're there. We've always seen a lot of moose and elk, and bears in the distance. Keep up the great work. And eat a lot of huckleberries while you're in the park. If you get a chance, either pick or buy wild huckleberries and make a nice pie or cobbler! Unbeatable taste of the Wild West!!

Really enjoyed the"trip" with y'all. Beautiful country with great guides. Chad, the footage you captured was terrific (and a ton of it I bet). Tara, your editing of these vids is so impressive. The key to keeping the attention of your viewers is good flow and content- especially with long vids. If you can get everyone wanting more after 30 min of watching, well, that's something special. Very well done, sweet lady. Oh yeah...BEAR!! 😜. Troy

You have to go to Many Lakes (East Glacier) that is where the wildlife is bears, moose, etc. You turned around too soon. It is out by Many Glacier Hotel which they have hiking, horseback riding, fishing, and camping (it is really awesome out there). Probably won't fit your 5th wheel though ;)

The get your own water at cafe's and restaurants has been happening here in Australia for at least the last 2 years and is growing in popularity as it saves the owners paying waitresses to run around giving away free drinking water to your table.

Great vid! Couple of random questions. One would you buy another ford and grand design, like the one you have knowing what you know now? I’m in the market and looking for a dodge 3500 or f450. I have narrowed my search down to a couple of companies. Like y’all I want to have my motorcycle and a small side by side. I’m wondering if both will fit. Ideas? Please keep posting videos. I’m retired Airforce,

Thank you! If you haven’t listened to him, please check out Adam sandavol site pages. He traveled around on his bike with his dog scooter to promote vets. He now owned a camp ground in Moyers ok. He has free spaces there for vets to use free of charge. He and his crew there are great people. Thank you for your advise. I have looked at high end rv.’s but seem to go back to grand design. Would you buy a used grand design? I know of one that is an 2018 and only used a couple of times. It looks the same as yours. Has all the bells and whistles. For 85 g. The only thing it doesn’t have is a generator. Anyways, I love your videos so I’ll be following your travels and adventures. Stay safe!

We've been in contact with Adam recently... We hope to do a colab in the future.
85K seems kind of high... Ours brand new custom order with everything, including generator and full boy paint was about 91K after haggling about 29% off MSRP. 25-30% off MSRP is fairly standard....

    • @ChangingLanes
      @ChangingLanes  4 года назад

We get asked fairly often about how to get the music in our videos. We can't use just any music due to copyrights, so we use EpidemicSound.com, Artlist.io, and MusicBed.com for all of our music under a creator's license (royalty-free). We know that some of the tracks are in iTunes, but many are not. The best way to find out is to use the Shazam app or ask Siri "what's this song" (Siri uses Shazam) as the music part plays in our video. If it's available, Shazam should recognize it and show you where you can download it.

I love watching you two. I am from Missoula, MT, and have spent a fair amount of time in Glacier. Next trip stop in East Glacier and eat at Serrano's Mexican Restaurant. I believe they will bring you a glass of ice water. But I prefer a pitcher of Dos Equis. :) Oh yes, the food is pretty good too. If your amateur radio (hams) users, the third weekend in July there is a "HamFest" held at the Three Forks Campground. The campground also has lots of space with pull though spots.

I began to think I was in Huckleberry Hell last summer after a month in Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier. It was all huckleberry, all the time. At least when we went up into Waterton Lakes NP in Alberta, it was Saskatoon berries. Like I could see any difference. We did one of those red bus tours from Apgar across the GTS road to Many Glacier. That was a lot of fun. It was freaking cold when we started out, so the Jammer kept the roof covered, at first, but as soon as the temperature reached 40, off came the lid, and we were pretty much frozen by the time we reached Logan Pass. There are blankets on each row. It did get up into the low 60s, thankfully. Somewhere out there is my Soggy Dollar Bar hat from BVI. It went flying out along the GTS road. Hang on to your hat. Great episode, as always.

Hi there, loving your videos! Feeling for you w/ your Migraines & the lyme disease. My brother took a good amount of colloidal silver & finally got well. Did you ever try or research colloidal silver to help your lyme disease? Also, One Lyme disease treatment that has become popular of late is 10-pass ozone, a very potent and intensive type of ozone therapy that apparently goes deeper into the body and is more effective at eliminating Lyme disease pathogens than standard intravenous ozone. It was created by an Austrian gynecologist.

I am terrified of heights, drop offs and cliffs. I have been as far as the restricted parking lot. The lake is beautiful and the trees and mountains are awesome. We are looking forward to the day we can get on the road. So many places to see and tons of family back out west that we miss.

Love Glacier. Been there a few times over the years, both in spring and fall but never summer. Fall is the best time in my opinion because all the animals are putting on their winter coats. As opposed to spring where they look like moth eaten gramma robes. St Maries resteraunt is very tasty. Many Glaciers is a really good day. It's an up and back but really cool to see.
If you have your pass ports head up into Canada and see Waterton Lakes. The town is super friendly and close by is the buffalo paddocks. If you like fishing Police lake is south of the highway that takes you to Waterton. Great fishing in a very productive foothills lake.

Hi - love the channel as we’ve been watching and subscribed for a couple years. Really appreciate all you’ve made available to the community.
We are planning our trip to Glacier, and have come back to these videos as part of our research. While it’s been a while since you visit, do you recall the size limitations on trucks? We have a 22’ Silverado - not a dually, but missing the size by one foot. Is the 21’ a “recommendation” and did you see larger truck/buses on Going to the Sun road? Or is this strictly enforced? I’ve seen reference to both a “not recommended” and a “regulation”. Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Huckleberry pancakes, muffins, jams.... Can't go wrong. Check out rasberry days around bear lake first of august. The 2 berries a great combo.

If you cross the border and do the Alaska thing you can go up via the Cassier Highway. Sort of my back yard. Two years ago on the Cassier we saw 11 bears in one days drive. Seeing 5-6 or more isn't uncommon. There are campgrounds up there that require tents, pop top campers and bike campers to camp inside an electric fenced portion of the grounds. Bears everywhere, black, brown, cinnamon, Grizzly. Zero bear attacks in the last significant number of years and the most recent ones were in Alaska. We don't hand feed our bears up here so they generally give humans a wide birth. One time i saw a bicycle camper pedal right past a Grizzly feeding in the ditch. They aren't half as dangerous as you may feel they are if you don't habituate them to marshmallows and garbage.

We are digging the Glacier National Park visit. We started watching your channel recently and dig the content so we subscribed. We look forward to your future content most likely on a weekly basis. Maybe we will run across each other at some point on our RV journeys down the road. Cheers!

I would like to ask you a question do you use towhaul & cc in the mountains. The reason I'm asking you this is because I have Neruropathy in my right foot. It is extremely hard to keep my foot on the accelerator for long periods of time. Try going to the road to the sun during spring run off after the road opens. You might get wet?

Sometimes... In lots of up and down, I manually control the throttle, but in light hills, I might use CC. CC works in the mountains, it's just a little too behind the curve for me. Hope that helps!

You did a fantastic job of showing these park and area. And I live here :-) I run a hardware store in Columbia Falls. Stop in on your next visit and say hi. There is still a lot to see. Someday I'll get good with my video, but between you and KYD you put the bar high :-) thanks for visiting.

I live on Flathead Lake and have several real bear stories. Glad to share if you're interested. The water thing is not that different from other areas. Conservation kicked in pretty much everywhere a couple of decades ago and I usually have to ask in my own travel experiences. The high density population areas are where you tend to get water automatically. Big city folk need to get out more often. You guys go with the flow nicely. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Happy trails.

I stayed at East Glacier Lodge in 2014 , and reserved the 8 hour tour on the Red Bus. Supper trip; Marias Pass, Izaak Walton Inn, Apgar, Lake McDonld Lodge (we had a lunch break there), going to the sun road, and back to East Glacier Lodge. The Whole day was well worth the price, and Zero hassle.

We were there in 2018. Lucky the weather was nice on the boat tour. Lake was a mirror, and quiet. Unfortunately, only being the end of June, Going to Sun Highway wasn't open yet. We want to go back someday and cover it from both sides now that that new park is open. Really want to see that view.

Have missed you guy’s lately. We are in Clearwater until the end of March ‘20. Torn between heading home or staying in sunny Florida. All beaches closed but that’s okay. For the time being most campgrounds remain open. Hope everyone is doing well!

One of the geographical wonders about Glacier National Park is it is the lowest in elevation pass of anywhere in the Rockies. That is why the Empire Builder, James J. Hill built the Great Northern Railway through this area of the Rockies. His son was the person that promoted Glacier to become a National Park the RR paying to build most of the lodges in the park. Thanks again for bringing back so many great memories..... 😊🤗😊
