    FYI, the KOA in Townsend is awesome also, very close to Cades Cove. During the summer on Wednesdays, Cades Cove is bicycles only on the 11mi loop. This starts on the first Wed of May. That's pretty awesome if you have an ebike, no traffic jams and less people. Next time your in Cherokee, check out the Happy Holiday campground on the East end of town. Riverfront sites and a lake inside. Super management. The fresh pizza to go made in their store is incredible for $14, all the toppings you want, no extra charge!

    Thank ya'll for all the effort that ya'll put into these videos and for taking us along with you.
    God bless ya'll and stay safe on your travels to these beautiful spots.

    We love Little Arrow in Townsend! It’s the last campground before you get into Cade’s Cove. It’s a beautiful area and Townsend is a bit off the typical tourist path. FWIW, while we were there, our Great Pyrenees got sick and the vet in Townsend was just amazing! She got Jolie all fixed up and was just wonderful.

    That part of the country is great. Unfortunately some of the amenities on the Blue Ridge have disappeared. I don't know if that is by design or lack of business or what, but there used to be a really neat gas station and diner just South of the North Carolina line where I waited out some dense fog on a motorcycle trip a few decades ago. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

    Loved this video since I'm a born and bred Waynesville-ian, but we gotta get you guys over to Waynesville for some fun. You kind of glossed over Waynesville and that told me you havevn't spent much time at our festivals, fabulous Main St, breweries and great restaurants. Creekwood RV in the Waynesville area is our favorite campground - so much so that we have spent a week there with friends even though we live less than 15 minutes away, LOL! So glad you guys are such fans of the Smokies. Hope to meet you on the road someday.

    We stayed at Cades Cove campground and biked Cades Cove. Definitely recommended. From Virginia, you really cannot go wrong with any of the campgrounds in Shenandoah National Park for leaf watching. Plus we also have part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our perspective may be a little different because we don’t RV. We camp in our small square drop camper.

    When in Bryson City on the bike, go straight thru Bryson and follow that road to the “Tunnel to nowhere” but be aware there are some breaks in the roadway and when walking through the tunnel take a flashlight and watch for horse poop!!
    Also Bryson City and Dillsboro are where the movie “The Fugitive” with Harrison Ford was filmed. The train is still in Dillsboro.

    Anchor down is a beautiful park, and its wroth the wait, The last time we stayed and put. our name on the list it was a two year wait...We haven't been back because of that wait, Little arrow is great as well, BUT with a Large rig it Is very difficult to get in and out , IF you go in the section by the river. The section that has the party sites OR buddy sites would be the way to go, So If we go back we'll try to stay in one of the other sections ,

    I've camped at Rose Creek several times. My wife and I love mining there. In fact, there's great mining all over the Franklin area. We've found many kinds of gems there over the years, garnets, star sapphires, rubies, emeralds and even a rare 25 carat star ruby. It cut out to about 6 carats and according to the gemologist is worth in the $600-800/carat range. On the other side of the highway, a little down from the Great Outdoors RV Resort is the Mi Mountain CG. It's a little tighter than the Great Outdoors RV Park, but we had no problem with our 35ft MH and toad. It's cheaper, secluded and has great views too. Our campsite was a pull-through with a nice deck. It's been 5 yrs. since we stayed there, but back then it was only $550/mo. w/30a electric during color season. BTW, I used to live in Waynesville back in the 90's when things were cheap. I only paid $300/mo. for a 1,700sq. ft. 2 story town house overlooking the gorgeous Maggie Vally golf course. Those were the days! I used to work for Waynesville Cycle Center about a mile from the parkway and enjoyed some spectacular rides in the area back in my knee dragger days.

    what's the length of your rv?

  • @davidoverholt251
    @davidoverholt251 11 месяцев назад

    OMG, it is tough to haul your three axel toy hauler up the mountain in your Ford F450! The length is scarey, the Smokey/Blue Ridge Mountains and the visability of the drive on Parkway is tough, and it is hard to get there off of US26 in the Scary Fog! Just saying that in retirement, we plan our travel in daylight hours!

    We stay in Clabough’s RV Park. About 1/2 mile down Wear’s Valley Rd towards Townsend off the main strip in Pigeon Forge. It is quiet and we usually get a spot right on the back side that has a stream. We tried the cruise you are doing. It was the maiden voyage of the Ocean Princess back in 2002. It got held up in dry dock for maintenance and they canceled the first 2 cruises. They gave us our money back, no questions asked, and a voucher for the next cruise, no time limit. Princess Cruise lines have the best customer Svc. We took the money and flew to Anchorage, AK. and got hotels and a Ford Expedition. We drove and saw Valdez, Fairbanks, Sodotna, Ninilcik, Denali N.P., North Pole, Tok, Chicken, and the Chena River.

    We just got back home in Central NC from Gorges State Park in Sapphire, NC (Transylvania County). IMO it is the best campground in the NC Park System. Full hookups, paved sites, and the nicest restroom I have ever seen in any State Park. There are waterfalls, cure towns like Cashiers and Brevard. Leaves were starting to change. Also, talk about hills, I am guessing the road out of the campground was easily a 19% grade!

    Now I know that you guys were focusing on RV parks and that Cades Cove Campground has NO hookups, but camping there through the weekdays is wonderful. On Wednesday morning, when the loop road is closed to cars, get up before daylight, pack a lunch or snack, and head out on bikes when there is just enough light for safety. Pick a blue bird morning. Glorious. Animals out everywhere. Green sunlight mountain tops to the west against a blue sky backdrop. You won't regret it. But never do it on weekends. Monday mornings are good too because everyone has left the campground.

    Please explain percent to grade i do not understand please

    • @ChangingLanes
      @ChangingLanes  11 месяцев назад

      The grade of a road, often expressed as a percentage, refers to the measure of its steepness or incline. It is calculated by taking the vertical rise (how much it goes up or down) for a specific horizontal distance and then expressing this rise as a percentage of the horizontal distance. For instance, if a road rises 5 meters over a 100-meter distance, its grade would be 5%. A higher grade percentage means a steeper road, and a 0% grade represents a flat or level road.

    So at the 4:55 moment during the Rose creek campground, was the camera playing tricks or did a ghost walk across the road? 😱. I know it is a smudge on the window but it looked exactly like someone walking

      The ones we tried didn't seem to do anything, so we don't use any now.

    Thank you for all the reviews, looking forward to visit all of them 230 calendar days before retirement and rv travel

    Anchor down is very nice, keep in mind they do have a “age” limit on Rv’s that are allowed. We did witness them denying one at the gate
