Would you go into the woods tonight? How about in foggy bear country with scary-looking trees and even scarier abandoned vehicles on the quiet backroads of Vancouver Island?
The last thing you'd want to do is take a wrong turn...
This ridiculous landscape photography adventure features two foggy sunrises and one lovely sunset with some utterly stunning telephoto views that will blow your mind.
Not only do I spoil you with lots of free landscape photography tutorials, but you also get a double dose of ''a face like a...'' which, if we're honest, is the only reason you bother watching!
Does Uncle Grumpy really need to check himself and will he ever do that reading of 'Chasing Awe With Gavin Hardcastle'? Why is his bum wet and will we make it back before the tide cuts us off?

Those back lit forest photos around the 8 minute mark in the video have to be some of your most beautiful. Heaven on earth.
When Gavin, Adam, Thomas or Nick are posting anything, I ''Like'' it first and then I watch. You guys ROCK!
Sky replacement software is brilliant for Real Estate photography, but not something I’m personally keen on for landscape pics. I’m not sure the next Chasing Awe by Gavin Hardcastle will have as much awe if there were pics included with that method.

I've been watching your channel now for a few years and I have always really enjoyed the episodes. The photography has been very informative and inspiring, to say the least. But I had to pause the video at 8:32, by far one of the best shots I've seen. I can't believe that was taken from Vancouver Island. I live right next to you near anacortes, state side and that shot looks like something from the Amazon Jungle. Soo cool!

Just realised watched y’a. Now for 2 1/2 years , wow what a legend you really are thanks for the last couple of years of lighter side of life educational and extremely funny times,, I don’t think people really realise just how much you come into people homes and life’s just through RUclips, if you ever feeling a bit down or just fancy a quick pick me up go back and watch some of the older ones, , a big thankyou for every moment you’ve shared along the adventures of fototripper. Sky replacement is a no from me, part of the journey is being there for the right conditions... No light, no clouds, go back and get the shot another time. 🙂

I have to say I quite enjoy these longer videos of yours. I pass my time with something that I like since I don't really watch tv and it is a subject that literally is my favorite.
Awesome video. But they're all awesome videos! Amanda is hilarious 🤣 that ostrich impression was spot on 🤪 as as far as you photoshoping in the clouds, nah I don't consider that cheating, its your art, do as you will is what I say, I have done that myself plenty of times when there's been a boring sky. I actually take pictures of pretty skies and clouds that I could possibly use if I had to, so technically even if I have to photoshop the sky its still 100% my picture 😁

One of your best I think , really enjoyed seeing you back with Uncle Grumpy , absolute classic when you asked which bit of your book he liked the most . Oh and yes using Photoshop to replace a sky is cheating , it’s just not cricket you know
Since you asked: I still can't bring myself to replace skies. I think it reinforces the idea that "this is what a good photo should look like" and that's what's rubbing me the wrong way.
I'm not claiming that my line of reasoning makes perfect sense, just to be clear.

I dont mind replacing a sky IF it makes the shot better and it's a sky that I took
I wouldn't mind replacing the sky as long as the new sky was a shot I took. Ideally at the same location with better conditions.
Gavin, wow, 6:05 did it for me. I’ve been looking for a shot like that for myself. A very inspirational shot for me.... I got this nice warm feeling watching it. Thank you for doing what you do. Oh man, I really enjoyed every single photo with a slap of good humor. I think I love you man! Lol

I don’t know how you guys manage to get up so early 7:00am is middle of the night for me. Though I managed to get out in the bluebells last week at 5:30am. A major accomplishment for me. Any way another entertaining video

Fun! I love the long format videos. It's funny, while watching last week's video I was cropping off a shot with my fingers I didn't see you try. On this video, you took the composition of the islands which was so close to my finger crop I had to smile. I love your shot of the multi-layers, outstanding. I have an 800mm equiv. I would have loved to point in that direction with that light. As for the sky replacement, I think it works and isn't cheating any more than dodging and burning the subdued way you did it. A bright blue sky without clouds is distracting, so dropping in a few clouds to make the viewer focus on the composition seems fair. Oh, yeah, maybe I've seen one too many "Top Gear" episodes, but any time you need $1K to blow up a caravan, let me know. Good content, thanks!

I was looking at landscape photographers pictures in my area, just loved the waterfall pictures, beautiful light at the top of waterfall, was kind of depressing that i could never catch such light or find a waterfall that lent itself to such a perfect sunrise or sunrise, was seriously discouraged, been trying hard to learn, then i realized that every single waterfall at every single location had this beautiful light... Finding that fine line between photography and graphic art is hard... I have to say when it is presented that far, not enhancing light that is there but truly adding, i hate it when it is presented as photography, versus graphic art, at the very least mentioning what liberties were taken would be the honest thing. Everyone has different lines they draw i guess, enhancing the contrast, color, light that was there to show what you remembered it or what it felt like can sometimes be so unreal unintentionally so what is too far... I struggle with this as a newbie photographer. Maybe i should do a video on that on the channel i started. In either case, having fun.
Gavin, thanks for another great video. I love how you show the good with the bad when it comes to landscape photography. That's the reality of it (and I thought it was only me these things happen to!) This weekend I got a $71 ticket because my park's little parking lot wasn't open yet and I parked along the street outside with a few other cars. Were my photos worth $71? Nope! But I had fun nonetheless.

You did get some beautiful shots. I always look forward to your videos. They bring a smile to my face. I was thinking if you caught up to the park ranger who gave you a ticket that maybe you could sell him your book for the price of the ticket? Just a thought, lol. Some of our national parks have open and close times. I remember one night I didn't quite make it to the parking lot in time and saw the gate was closed. Fortunately the park ranger left it unlocked. Now I'm a bit more careful. I love that you and Amanda were able to get together with Uncle Grumpy. Thanks for sharing!!!
Weird thing is, the park is open 24/7...
