I must say that it is so refreshing to see someone who shows what a slow day fishing is. Most YT channels only show days when the fish are coming in thick and fast. Really enjoying your channel.
Well, a new string to your bow Nathan. Looking forward to your new ventures, and all the different species to target. Beautifully marked bull huss, your first new species. G.ood watch Nathan. Tight lines mate. Arthur.
Cheers Arthur, shame the boat season is winding down just as I'm getting going. Hopefully get a few more sessions out of it before it's time to hit the beaches again. Tight lines mate👍🎣
Cool video, that ray you got at 22:40 was definitely a thornback. Its weaponised tail was all brisstly with thorns and ready to thagomize you at the first opportunity!! And its back was covered in thorns. You said it's quite blonde, but blonde rays are sandy-yellow with lots of little dark-brown cheetah spots that go all the way to the edge of the wings, quite distinctive when you see it. --- Also, very nice bull-huss! I remember my first bull-huss, on a boat out of Newquay Cornwall, came in ast just over 10 lb, yours looked about the same size. A decent fish.
Nice huss to finish off the day. I'd recommend grabbing the weight and taking it off when it's at the boat. Then you can grab the huss/tope safely.... the bigger ones will break your net probably! Tight lines
Hi Nathan, it was a good day out ,quite an adventure 😮, hope to see you down often there’s plenty more there and an easy launch. Good luck with the videos I enjoy them .tight lines.
A loved how you were having a chat with that other bloke on his boat in the middle of the sea reminded me of them ice cream sellers in turkey on their boats 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️😂😂😂😂😂
I fish for Tope with a sliding boom on 50lb mono main line tide onto that a strong coastlock swivel 8 ft of 200lb nylon onto that a strong coastlock swivel then onto that 3ft of 150/200lb wire trace and attached to that a 10/0 or 12/0 cox and rawel circle hook, with the barb cruched. This will protect the fish and it will be easy to unhook the Tope. and fish with a hole mackeral with a couple of cuts down each flank of the mackeral to let the juices run out. I have caught loads of Tope upto 60lb with this methard, its never let me down.
Eyup Nathan. You get to launch your boat from THAT slip now? It's beautiful. I was fishing from a mark with a steep cliff climb the other week. It looks bad from the top but not from the bottom. You will know the sort of thing of course - it's just a rock ladder. I caught and had fish and chips for the first time in a long time. I spoiled myself. I spent some time close to a Raven who now comes to find me at times because he knows I will give him some fish or an egg if I have one or the other. He had three chicks this year and they don't trust me to come so close like that at all. I actually said to myself out loud on the way home 'I actually live here now - this is my life' and had a bit of a giggle. Enjoy your boat and I'll enjoy learning with you. I'll sithi after, Dave.
well done thats what its all about, keep experimenting with baits, rigs, and depth of water and features, and you will as time progresses build up a mental picture and feeling and you will do a lot better, but hey, enjoy the experience, just a small tip for later down the line, if you copy some of our coarse fishing brethren you will be surprised at the outcome, loose feed, ground baiting at anchor ect, I have been doing it for years and have turned mediocre days into red letter days, just a thought.
great video as usual Nathan 😎 How did you manage to solo launch and dock ? there did not seem to be anywhere for you to tie up while parking or bringing trailer back to water . I am hoping to get a boat in the spring so hungry for info / tips
I slid the boat off the trailer and anchored the boat at the bottom of the ramp. Parked the car and waded back out to the boat. Just reversed that process to get the boat back on the trailer. I'll include launching etc in future vids. Glad you liked the vid👍🎣
Congratulations on your new boat Nathan, I think fishing from one is the way forward. I've had many a good day out on mine, seem to catch more too🤣 I still have to catch my first Bull Huss though anyway, here's hoping👍🎣
Always great to watch. Sadly I can't fish from a boat at the moment, middle ear issues causing sea sickness... a hard thing to get used to given I've never had it before. lol
Huss always seem to give a crazy bite, but tope when I've caught them on a charter can give quite a subtle tug. The skipper advised us to wait for 20 seconds or so for the line to tighten up then strike.
Just a bit of friendly advice. It's good practice to remove your weight when close to the boat with a fish on. Saves it swinging around and you'll have better contact with the fish 👍🏻
Nate', did you open this video with, "Hello and welcome to anothet 'sleepy limpits' video"? I've listened to it five times now and it sounds like it. Get in.
Onion sack on the anchor rope with chopped up mackerel will pull the tope in I used to catch plenty up that area make sure your sleeves are down if you cradle one or your arms are going to be sore for a few days their skin is made up of little teeth, denticles
Ahh thanks for letting me know, have to say the Excalibur has handled everything Norway could throw at it, Halibut to 50kg and a pb cod of 28 kg among loads of other biggies
I'm waiting for the "We're going to need a bigger boat" comment 😊 I was willing that ratchet to start screaming 😊 I used to catch a lot of tope in loch Ryan - float fishing mackerel fillet on a pennel rig often worked. Plenty of rays there too if you want to fish on the bottom, and it's easy to get to and launch. Consider something along the lines of a Shakespeare Ugly Stik GX2 12-20lb or similar - inexpensive and light enough to have fun with even small fish, but powerful enough to deal with heavier ones (you think you've got the plug).
I must say that it is so refreshing to see someone who shows what a slow day fishing is. Most YT channels only show days when the fish are coming in thick and fast. Really enjoying your channel.
we need a a boat walk around video, to see your set up and kit used

Another great video Nathan, lovely coloured Huss by the way.
very pleased for you that you treat yourself to a boat. life's too short to have regrets. enjoy.

Cracking video Nathan , it did look creepy in the fog mate & well done with the ray & huss , so take care & stay safe tight lines
Great video story. Boat fishing can be like that but one fish makes it a good day!
Awesome as always Nathan buddy, great vid, well done on the Huss bud nice one!

happy days mate
i love watchin you learn , most guys know it all and it can become a bit mundane but everything to you is exciting
I think radios are the kiss of death for boat fishing, great video and the boat looks mint 👍
Well done on the new venture Nathan, Nice!! Looks like your enjoying the challenge mate. No fun if its easy lol tight lines lad 🎣
I'm loving the process, so much to learn! Tight lines Darren👍🎣
Great video Nathan, smashing Huss at the end there mate, the boat thing going good bud 👍🏼👍🏼
Nice one Nathan. That Huss was a good size along with the male thorn back 😊
Well done mate, nice to see a "normal" days fishing. had many of those. Superb fish at the end.
Another great watch nathan...living the dream now on that boat... my day will come 😂😂
I loved this video. Nice chill watching after the first of 4 Nightshifts.
Great video thanks. Congratulations on your first huss 😊
Keep your engine down mate, turn it with the tide, it will allow you to fish right up/down to slack water on anchor.
Well done
Great video enjoyed that mate. Looks a nice set up you got there. You will get many more fish for sure

Looking forward to many more boat fishing videos. I'm sure you'll miss no cliffs to go scrambling down to get to the next fishing spot though.

Nice one and that Bull is a great size.
Nice vid mate 👍🎣
Lovin the boat vids Nathan - although I feel that you need a Lateral Line kinda boat and Lewis for some banter. Congrats on the huss and also the ray.
I'd love to have a boat like Sojurn, perfect fishing craft, alas out of my league. TL LV 👍🎣
Nice Effort Nate, Try Using A Chum Bag Hung Over The Side Brutha. Good Vid Mate 👍👍
If you're going for 'big stuff'.... Get a lever drag reel. They're just faster to respond to than a star drag if / when you get a 'runner'....
You need to set your anchor with a trip otherwise you wont have it that long 😢.
Quite simple to do and carry some spare cable ties.
I nearly always use a bag off rubby dubby,no matter what fish,it attracts them all.
Nice one Nathan 👍
Always great to watch. Sadly I can't fish from a boat at the moment, middle ear issues causing sea sickness... a hard thing to get used to given I've never had it before. lol

Great video, getting to understand the boat and your own area takes time. It has taken me four trips to Cornwall to find the fish down there.
Great video,What app are you using to show reefs etc etc ?
Well done Nathan great fish and great video thank you for your great content.
Just a joy to watch ,love how you keep it real ,loving the boat videos
Love your shore fishing videos ,great job on you boat fishing video ❤
Enjoy watching your videos.
How you enjoying the boat fishing?
Can I ask what make of boat is it?
Cheers Steve
Just a bit of friendly advice. It's good practice to remove your weight when close to the boat with a fish on. Saves it swinging around and you'll have better contact with the fish 👍🏻
Those Huss look real strong.
I feel like every time I see one caught the fisherman is struggling to keep it steady.

Is that the same boat that John Locker has ? Thanks Bro !
What century boat rod was that please ? I use a Excalibur 20/40 in Norway , fabulous rod
It's the new Eliminator Boat 12-20, brilliant rod, but I just wish the butt was a little shorter
Ahh thanks for letting me know, have to say the Excalibur has handled everything Norway could throw at it, Halibut to 50kg and a pb cod of 28 kg among loads of other biggies
@jmr5551000 I haven't used the Excalibur but if it's anything like the Eliminator then it's brilliant.
Sometimes the original is best lol, should think there a very similar blank though
have you ever caught pollock on senkos
Yep, on white, black but the best colour for me is the green and white version.
New boat ?
what the boat ? Warrior ?
It's a Piscator 580, I couldn't afford a warrior
I'm waiting for the "We're going to need a bigger boat" comment 😊
I was willing that ratchet to start screaming 😊

Why are you casting off a. Boat go back on thec rook's happy days have awesome time 😁🏴
Don't worry Nigel, I'll still be keeping up my usual rock fishing. I enjoy that too much to stop
and its in Scotland ? Please tag spots
The majority of my fishing is in scotland but I'm not going to tag the exact location on social media. These areas are quiet for a reason 😉
