    Chelsea finished 12th last season, if they finish 6th and secure Europa League qualification, then that's definitely a "relative success" to where they were last season, and this season where they had a ridiculous injury crisis every single game week this season. It's literally a huge Improvement and they'll go into next season with a more stable headspace, more experienced players, and more confidence in the project.

    It seems like Gab got flustered halfway thru his argument when he realized Stevie was actually making sense. The "Liverpool kids" squad was still on average older than Chelsea squad at the end of that cup final. We always forget how young these players are because of the price tag. The high ranks in Chelsea obviously didn't know what they were doing when they were paying that amount of money. So with the given squad, Poch has done a pretty good job, but the club and the business is no where near successful.

  • @peluminova2515
    @peluminova2515 17 дней назад +2

    Well said Stevie. Considering how this team was put together, their current situation isn't a surprise. Inconsistency is expected of a mostly young squad, especially when a huge chunk of key players like the entire starting backline, and players that could have made a difference like Nkunku, Lavia and even Carney are mostly unavailable.
    Losing out in Cup competitions isn't also a bad showing considering the caliber of teams they lost to - Liverpool x City, although most Chelsea fans would feel they could have done better and won those games.
    The target should be getting Europa, which is feasible if this team can win the rest of their PL fixtures and UTD inevitably drops enough points. Chelsea going into next season need to focus on keeping players fit and get in a few key players, while also getting rid of deadweights

    They still have their own issues, but Chelsea’s season would be considered a success if they finish 6th or 7th and get European football for next season. They’ve spent a lot of money, this season would be seen as an improvement since last season they finished in 12th place in the premier league and keep in mind the amount of injuries they’ve had in the past 2 seasons. Hopefully getting a European spot next season would be enough for Todd Boehly to not sack Mauricio Pochettino, as they’ve spent a chunk of the season in 10th or 11th place and now they find themselves in 8th place and with 4 games to go they want to finish higher. At the start of the season, you didn’t expect them to finish in the top 4 as many Chelsea fans would be happy enough if they can get European football and build on that by backing the manager and making additions that’d elevate the team.
    Either the Europa League or the Conference League is the minimum for them. There are still moments where this team is unreliable and inconsistent, they beat Tottenham 2-0 and the next game they’ll drop points as that’s been a cycle for them all season, one game Chelsea are playing excellent football, next game they play well, chaotic and inconsistent and drop points. In terms of the performances they’ve been much better than last season even if it doesn’t reflect in the table and I think they’re better off giving Mauricio Pochettino a little more time. Don’t forget that they got to the FA Cup semifinal and Carabao Cup final in his first season and there’s a possibility that they finish in the top 6 and with a manager like Pochettino, he’s not perfect and he hasn’t gotten everything right, but this is a young team and a long term project you can’t expect success to happen overnight unless you have patience and a strategy in the short term that’ll benefit the future. People have to understand that this is steady progress finishing 12th last season possibly getting European football and that’ll provide a foundation for them to get better and start pushing for the champions league places and it’ll only be a matter of time before you see this team competing for the premier league title again in the near future. There’s still some issues that need to be resolved like getting a striker, a CB, try to strengthen other positions on the field and also the injuries because that’s been their biggest problem in the last 2 seasons and regardless of what you think of them, at best when everyone is healthy, they’re a European team and this team needs to sort out all of these injuries.

    Another thing people don't consider is the increased language barriers at Chelsea through having signed young players from all over the world in a very rapid period. Senior players tend to have been around long enough to have learned the language and also require much less individual coaching. The coaching time with each player is inevitably going to be quite diluted with all this and team cohesion is also harder to build with so many language barriers.

Only 1 of their signings was the absolute success they were hoping the other 11 would be and that's Cole Palmer. He saved their season. I'm sure they will be better next season but for all the money they've spent and where they're finishing + how they're playing, it's shambolic. Keeping their wallet closed and walking on a razor's edge is FSG's modus operandi. It worked with Klopp to a certain extent, but there is a distinct possibility, if not a very high likelihood that it won't work out for Slot or any future Liverpool manager (or 'coach' in Slot's case - something that sounds alarm bells) that has to work with FSG and the constraints they'll put upon them.

    Chelsea have a chance to win the FA cup and get European football. If that happens then yes a successful season. If neither happens then it was a disaster because the only player to improve was the one brought in on deadline day

    I can see both Stevie’s and Gab’s points of view, however Stevie is a massive hypocrite. United have had to deal with a tonne of injuries at the back yet he’s constantly slating ETH even though Utd are currently higher in the table. As a neutral I think both Poch and ETH have been poor this season but can also appreciate the fact they’ve had to deal with a lot of injuries.

    This is a joke, right?
    How could it be considered a success after all that money spent, and nowhere near the Top 4?
    A win against a poor Spurs side doesn’t change the fact it’s been an underwhelming season, which would’ve been even worse if they hadn’t signed Cole Palmer.
    Can’t use injuries as an excuse as their second string first team is worth more than most teams’ first 11.
