incredible that so soon after the end of jojolion you already putting out videos like this, I'm thankful for your work that is so valuable for this community!!
I actually think that SBR has less references to the original universe than JJL, considering that JJL's plot is more centered around the family, Kira, and Killer Queen, those aspects from the original series are more present in the way the story unfolds, where outside of High Voltage, SBR has hardly anything in common with the 1st series parts it draws from outside of names, and I suppose Diego, not that I'm complaining, it's very refreshing that they stay nearly entirely as callbacks and don't interfere with the entirely new series in any huge way.
Another cool callback is when Kei landed the 1st hit on Tooru and his stand. Tooru's forehead bleeding is a parallel to when Joseph finally did real damage to Wham and the same wound. How fitting since the Rock Humans are a parallel to the Pillar Men.
Also how after stopping the thief from stealing lucy's luggage, Joseph's wallet got stolen anyway. Just like it was stolen twice before him in the original universe, both by a friend and his son.
i've always said that the "combination" of josefumi and kira its also a subtle reference to part 4 , because while in that part the combination between kira's stand and stray cats power enables killer queen to use bubbles has attacks , in jojolion its the combination of kira with josefumi ,a person who doesnt have a father or mother figure , resulting in kira and holly being the only ones that showed him some kind of care , thus making josefumi some kind of "stray cat" the result on "soft and wet" being an interesting parallel of the things that fusion (while in DIU its only the stands the ones that merge , in jojolion its the characters resembling the stands of DIU the ones to do so , thus repercuting in the abilites of soft and wet
Something I noticed is that Norisuke has many similarities with Yuya Funagami from part 4 like the ability of King Nothing who is a long distance Stand with little physical power, his ability to track specific odors and in a chapter (I don't remember which one) Kato mentions that when Norisuke is nervous he touches his chin just like Yuya Funagami did in the Enigma Boy arc.
6:30 i remember when this chapter released, people were going crazy theorizing that emporio was back and going to connect the two universes or something only for him to die the next chapter lol
The dolomite fight plays out similar to the highway star (stand that can chase from distance, jouske gets help from koichi/yashuo, tracks the user down) Yashuo also remind me a bit of trish, pink hair, connected to the main villain (tooru/diavolo) both their stands manifest independently and help fight against a long range stand that is seemingly unstoppable (born this way/notorious BIG) Those are a couple that ive seen, i might be reaching tho
A number of characters throughout Jojolion (such as Kei, her stand, Joseph in Chapter 109, etc) have had names which were later changed, mistranslated initially, or translated differently as the part went on. Going over these and the reasons for each of them would be interesting. If there's not enough in that in itself, other retcons in the part's publication would be a neat topic.

There was no lion only tigers
"lion" inside jojolion not the animal lion, jojolion's lion meaning just like the lion inside evagelion
incredible that so soon after the end of jojolion you already putting out videos like this, I'm thankful for your work that is so valuable for this community!!
Hamon beat really deserves more subscribers
In the hat store you can also see Gyro's, Johnny's and Emporio's hats.
Just like it was stolen twice before him in the original universe, both by a friend and his son.
seems like Araki wanted to flex on everybody joking about his bad memory. dude clearly remembers more than people give him credit for
Also, Hazekura high school/elementary school at the end of Shakedown Road seems to be a reference to Mikitaka's surname from part 4.
The amount of callbacks you see in this video that aren't even mentioned is just amazing
1:25 there is also Johnny's hat, Gyro's hat, and I believe the baseball cap under Jotaro's hat may be a reference to Emporio
The idea of Rock Humans being an alternate branch of humanoid lifeforms separate from humans is similar to that of Pillar Men from part 2
He missed the most important callback!!!
The locacaca looks like shigechi's fuckin head.
i've always said that the "combination" of josefumi and kira its also a subtle reference to part 4 , because while in that part the combination between kira's stand and stray cats power enables killer queen to use bubbles has attacks , in jojolion its the combination of kira with josefumi ,a person who doesnt have a father or mother figure , resulting in kira and holly being the only ones that showed him some kind of care , thus making josefumi some kind of "stray cat" the result on "soft and wet" being an interesting parallel of the things that fusion (while in DIU its only the stands the ones that merge , in jojolion its the characters resembling the stands of DIU the ones to do so , thus repercuting in the abilites of soft and wet
Volume 4 chapter 14 has a kid that looks like giorno and has a ladybug pin
1:27 we can’t forget about gyro, Johnny, and what looks like a call back to emporios hat in the background as well
Something I noticed is that Norisuke has many similarities with Yuya Funagami from part 4 like the ability of King Nothing who is a long distance Stand with little physical power, his ability to track specific odors and in a chapter (I don't remember which one) Kato mentions that when Norisuke is nervous he touches his chin just like Yuya Funagami did in the Enigma Boy arc.
6:30 i remember when this chapter released, people were going crazy theorizing that emporio was back and going to connect the two universes or something only for him to die the next chapter lol
I still find it odd how there's a Speedwagon Foundation in the SBRverse.
Speedwagon is so Alpha that he becomes a millionaire in every universe and dimension
I just came back to this channel after finishing part 8, and the timing couldn't be more perfect.
The dolomite fight plays out similar to the highway star (stand that can chase from distance, jouske gets help from koichi/yashuo, tracks the user down)
Yashuo also remind me a bit of trish, pink hair, connected to the main villain (tooru/diavolo) both their stands manifest independently and help fight against a long range stand that is seemingly unstoppable (born this way/notorious BIG)
Those are a couple that ive seen, i might be reaching tho
5:00 but now that Rohan is in part 9, this could be interesting
Mamezuku's stand ability it's very similar to Mountain Tim stand, 'Oh! Lonesome Me'.
It's great to see jojo references in jojo
I thought shakedown road was somewhat of a callback to the street where you can't look back in part 4
I always thought the existence of Gappy is a more complex version of Kosaku Kawajiri
What about Kaato Higashikata being a Jolyne reference? 15 years in jail and the uniform literally had Stone Ocean on the back.
Jousuke is born from a mixture of two different people. One being a Joestar, and the other not.
Giorno is born from a mixture of two different people. One being a Joestar, and the other not.
DIO would legally be a joestar, as he was officially adopted by George joestar |
both josefumi and kira are joestars
@@yesme5470 Josefumi is not a Joestar. The panel where he has the Joestars' birthmark was mistake, infact in the most recent volmume releases the birthmark has been removed. Also it was really clear in the story that he was not a Joestar as when we saw him as a kid in the chapter where he almost drowns in the sea, he has no birthmark. And the end of the Fumi's flashback remarked even more that Josefumi is not a Joestar
Can’t wait for part 9!
The stepping on the shadow was a reference to part 2 where kars stepped on wammu's shadow which he is scared of for some reason
Wammu is not scared, he just thinks that it's disrespectful to step on his shadow
The baseball player with broken jaw thanks to a Lokakaka's exchange may be a reference to a baseball player that had destroyed jaw thanks to Made in Heaven's time acceleration
Make an entire video discussing the erasure of Haruno Higashikata from the story out of nowhere.
I think Haruno's disappearance is a callback to Fugo's disappearance. Also, they both have really high IQs and similar attitudes. Haruno has gotta be this universe's Fugo.
I feel like...7 was the stage setting getting you used to the new world. Because we loved the old one so much and now part 8 allowed it to be a bit more relaxed. I hope Araki gets a vacation and comes back with the next part fully ready.
Me, watching this video, just in case Hamon Beat didn't forget about Haruno : 👀
the explosive bubbles remind me of him using the cats bubbles
I wonder if the next part has 2 jojo's , like siblings
How interesting, I just finished watching your “callbacks in part 7 video” from 1 year back where you mention that you’d upload a part 8 version once part 8 ends, and here just 6 hours ago you uploaded the part 8 version.
Been waiting for this for a long time
I was waiting for this one for a while
Mamezuku's stand is a reference to Rohan's Heaven's Door because both stands involve skin being peeled off, something Araki said he enjoyed drawing (source: Phantom Blood PS2 interview from October 2006), therefore making it clear that Mamezuki is meant to be this universe's equivalent to Rohan.
Araki forgot that stands can change their size and some extra powers of golden experience, but he remember an insignificant baseball team in a shirt
Do you think you could make a video talking about the curses and the blessings in jojolion, maybe like your fate in jojo video? I feel like it is very relevant since most people seemed to miss the point of it and it's relevance in the themes of the part
Let's go new intro!!!
I am waiting for Araki Forgot 😂
knowing rohan is in part 9 now, i like to think rohan himself wrote kishibe on that tree
JoJo references in JoJo
2:41 i think you meant to say "holly joestar" as holly didnt marry a kujo in this universe
