It was interesting to see one of the best interviewers asking the hard questions against one of the best PR guys from Nintendo. Great interview, really

You can always tell that Reggie wants to chokeslam Geoff. That's why it's fun to watch their interviews
The comment he made about Reggie being sad in his office seemed chippy for sure.

He was readying his body.
Geoff gained a lot of points in my books at this year's E3. Every question he asked was something I felt like asking while watching E3. Kudos to him for having the balls to say what everyone was thinking.
I love Reggie Fils-Aime, he's just such a nice person. He always seems so excited to talk about Nintendo stuff.
Geoff was really hard-hitting and tough in this interview. He asked some great questions. Well done.

I give Reggie a 7/10. Geoff is asking tough questions that I'm glad he's asking, and Reggie is mostly giving strong straightforward answers, admitting their mistakes, and explaining where they are going from there.
Geoff is such a great interviewer. He asks the bare-bones, in your face type of questions that other interviews would be too afraid to ask. Especially the one where he asked Reggie about the lack of third party support and no Battlefield and Madden.
Man, I have a lot of respect to Reggie, not only now being an icon to nintendo, but also keeps his cool all the time and always having an answer to everything.
Reggies face says everything. He just smirks when the questions come, because he knows their bodies just cant handle all he gives.

People who keep saying this Wii U will kill Nintendo, as a company Nintendo is much healthier than Sony or Microsoft and by that I mean Sony's playstaion division and Microsofts Xbox division cant hold a candle to the amount of cash nintendo has. They could utterly fail with a few consoles straight and have tons of cash to throw at something new. If Microsoft or Playstation does horrible for a couple consoles (maybe even one) it could potentially end them. Classic example of being able to buy themselves out of a problem haha. And FYI I am a Playstation guy all the way but I grew up with, and respect Nintendo is a HUGE way.
I'll say that I'm really happy wiiu is growing now because it actually is getting really great games. The video game industry is like a monopoly board. Sony has green and yellow properties and others scattered around the board, same with xbox, and Nintendo has boardwalk and park place with hotels. Sony and Xbox do great in the majority and has great third party games that sell well during the entire year for the most part and Nintendo get somewhat screwed over for a little but when their boardwalk hits (smash bros, Mario,Zelda,etc.) it hits hard and it will be great for them. I know I picked up a wii u just after seeing the new zelda that is supposed to come out in 2015.

Ohh boy, you can tell Reggie absolutely knew already at this point what a shitty console the Wii U was, he was just trying to keep it above water as long as possible.
Good on Reggie for answering these rough questions well.
Reggie is so fantastic in interviews. So much class. He's great at being a gentleman while being faced with tough questions.

Anybody who feels that they will ever be interviewed in their life, study Reggie. This is how you handle an interviewer who is trying to discretely call your company garbage and try to mock you at the same time.
GameCube was the ONLY console that cost LESS to manufacture than it was originally sold for ($200).
And it sold for $200 for the better part of 2 years.
And no, GameCube was NOT a distant third- it sold 22 million units, while the Xbox sold 24 million units.
GameCube and Xbox were BOTH fighting for a DISTANT second with PS2 well over 100 million sold.
You really need to research what you're talking about before you reply.
Because that Microsoft interview was before the E3 reveal.. so he had no reason to be extremely aggressive without knowing the whole picture. This one with Reggie was after the Nintendo Direct and with all the details announced of Nintendo's plans.
I love how Geoff is really pushing the lack of third-party games. Good interviewer!

I doubt Reggie has much control over Nintendo's decision-making on games and release dates. He can do nothing more than what the guys in Japan tell him to do, and can reveal nothing more than what they want him to reveal.

Geoff is awesome. He asks questions no one dares to ask. And Nintendo has a lot of questions to answer to.
reggie has such a way with words.
A lot of them are though. Reggie himself has stated they try to cater to all gamers(casuals included). Sure you have Metroid, Zelda, Mario(main series). But you also have Mario Kart, Wii Sports, Wii fitness, Mario Party, Mario Tennis, and many others that are casual games.
Because the Microsoft interview was before E3 over a week ago. He didn't know everything about the One yet. This one with Reggie was after Nintendo Direct so he knew all the details and was able to ask all the questions not addressed with the reveal.
Geoff did ask the CEO of Activision if COD is coming to Wii U and his exact response was "we have no comments at this time, stay tuned"

Every question he asked is a question I had during the Nintendo E3 conference. It made me really like Geoff. Reggie handled it well, too, he was honest and he gave good answers. Not sure why people are upset about this interview at all.

this is very true, this is the reason i bought ps3 and wii, and it will probably be the reason i buy wii u and ps4
Geoff isn't being an asshole he's being a journalist, he's asking the hard questions to people that should provide them. Geoff is great at his job and to be honest he's the most IN YOUR FACE interviewer the games industry has right now.
This is the first interview this year with geoff where I thought geoff was actually interested and actually cared, which is why he was more aggressive. Great interview.
Some of the best years of my life were spend with my snes. Gone are those times. Nintendo needs to realize thar we grew up.

I'm mostly worried about that, the only reason I didn't bring it up was because..... it's pretty common knowledge by now.
Why are you all mad at the interviewer? He asked all the questions that people who may be interested in the Wii U but are hesitant to buy one(for the following reasons that the interviewer addresses) would ask Nintendo. Basically all encompassing "WHY SHOULD I BUY A WII U RIGHT NOW?" Basically there's no good reason to buy one right now in 2013. It takes guts to ask a guy like Reggie these tough questions. I appreciate the guy doing his job.
The Regginator made some good comeback responses though.

it's not the fact that he was being that way to reggie, it's the fact that he was only being that way to reggie.

also the way reggie says "dankey kong" is pretty great.
the thing is that nintendo is at a spot where they need to increase the install base of the wii u. in other words they need to play it safe. there's no reason to think that they won't move on. especially considering many of their "milked" franchises appear once every console.
He called the Wii U the Wii New. Reggie confirms it himself.

I love how Nintendo doesn't even bother to intimidate other 2 companies. I'm a PS fanboy, but this is just me givin straight up respect for Nintendo. :)
I'm not upset at all, Reggie replied very well and didn't seem to have much trouble with him. As for the bias thing, that is more of a personal observation, I just found that he has always leaned towards Microsoft and such. Though, he has harped on them before.
I wish there was an interview between them this year.

Its been SEVEN months since E3 and Donkey Kong STILL isn't out!
(Note: I'm aware Smash and Kart aren't out but Donkey Kong was schedule to release in November).

Well with the announcement of E3 being permanently cancelled, now there's no way it can happen. Not to say I'd be hopeful regardless, because Nintendo never did it again.
I don't know much about Katsuhiro Harada, but based on some pictures I've seen of him, it seems to be part of his character. It is acceptable to wear sunglasses if it is sort of a character trait of the interviewer.

It seemed like Reggie's body wasn't completely ready in this interview.

the problem with third parties is that they make ports of 3+ year old games, expect them to sell like pancakes, and base their entire support of the console on those sales.

yeah SSB4 having Megaman, villager, Wii fit trainer, Mario 3d being 3dland based, moonolithsoft's x, and mario kart having zero-g wasn't at all a surprise and completely expected by EVERYONE.

yea it was harsh but he was asking the right questions though its the questions on every ones mind honestly im glad he asked them so now i feel safe in nintendo because they werent talkin a lot before.

Picking up the wiiU soon to get most of the games from this years e3 as well as some of the launch titles and I'm primarily a pc gamer so I'd definitely say Reggie's predictions were pretty much dead on for my case.

It's not necessarily a lack of 3rd party support on the wii u, but rather a lack of next-gen multiplat games. I could go on a big rant about the state of gaming journalism today, but that wouldn't be fun. All I'll say is that true journalistic integrity amongst video game journalists today is uncommon.
But I do think I should've worded things differently in my comment. But yes, I do think Geoff is a great interviewer. He asks REAL questions that other people haven't done in other interviews i've seen.
Reggie reminds me so much of big John who sells the tv's on the shopping network, I'd love to see Reggie sell a tv ^^

No game company wants to answer any hard questions, they just want to do their usual PR and be done. Geoff consistently asks the hard questions to things we all want to know. Even in the Sony interview where he mostly praised Sony he made sure Jack answered the question about requiring a PS+ subscription. As far as product placement and the VGA's go Geoff has no control over the advertising so I don't see why someone would blame him for it.
Getting the Wii U for sure.

The only times nintendo had good 3rd party support was on the NES , Game Boy (all versions) and the SNES.Most developers didnt want to know the N64 because it was hard to program and it took cartridges.Where everyone else by that time moved on to CD.
