I think everyone needs to realise that EVERYONES HAIR is DIFFERENT even if it "looks" the same. Every one of us has hair, skin and bodies that is unique to us. Our hair, skin and bodies are made of cells containing our own special DNA. Hence, it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to copy another's exact routine and expect the results to be the same.
Save yourself the money, headache and frustration in trying to look like someone else. It's ok to learn from another's advise, tips and routines. But ultimately learn your OWN hair, skin & bodies to create an uniquely YOU!

Facts some folks need to realize as you said it’s about DNA Cardi is mix, some of us who are black peoples has different DNAs which helps our hair to grow faster and has different curls. Look at folks that has no other DNA race when their hair gets wet their curls pop and when our hair like 4C hair gets wet and conditioner in it our curls doesn’t pop as some would call it coils. That’s why we shouldn’t use curly hair people methods their products doesn’t work for our hair.

My daughter got lice from someone in her kindergarten class. I used mayo as a mask.
I combed her hair in teeny tiny sections with the smallest tooth comb. Watching them come out was gross but it worked. After combing through the mayo thoroughly I put more of the mask on let it sit and watched them all come out during her shampoo.
I did this twice, because we lived with an older woman that insist not to use a chemical wash to get rid of them.
I did it for two weeks and let me tell you... Her hair was so shiny and moisturized i just started doing it regularly my daughter's hair is super long. Sorry about the gross story, but i would not have found out about mayo if she'd have never got lice.

I‘m consistent with mixing my avocado protein mask. 🙋🏾‍♀️ I was SHOOKETH at how much my hair was shining and at how soft it was. My parents were suspicious asf, but once they saw my hair they had to give me my props. I’ve been doing it consistently once a month since March or April. I take a picture everytime and watch how my hair was getting bigger and bigger after time. My hair maintains the shine now and contains a healthy amount of protein. I would say I’m kind of a newbie to natural hair since I cut it last year. Its not as time consuming as it seems to mix it. 🙈
*Also, it’s really easy to wash it out for me. Maybe it’s the difference of ingredients.

I read some comments and still think it's funny people talk about products making there grow faster cause its biologically impossible to apply something to your hair and have it grow faster. The speed our hair grows at is limited by our genetics. There are products that help prevent breakage which can make the hair appear to grow faster but I doesnt actually grow faster

    • @dawndesu6863
      @dawndesu6863 2 года назад +109

So, the food and medicine that you consume is a biological factor? I ask because certain medications effect your hair growth and can even make you go bald. When you are deficient in certain minerals, you suffer from hair loss. When you consume to much of something that contain metals you suffer from hair loss. So, how can the opposite not occur.

    • @isotopek261

Thank u. Not only speed but the length it can get to. I keep telling people if ur hairs anogen stage in combination with the speed of growth isn't condusive to certain length the hair will never get there. Two persons can have 5 years of growth before the hair dies and one will have over 30 inches while another maybe 15. But as I also always say they don't want to hair that all they need to do is retain the length to see the growth they can have ... Not do many want to hair that the less mix genes u have in the body that defines the anogen levels is the shorter the growth period. And many feel that oh if u black then it means u not mix not realising many of us are. Even if not on the surface of we have 4c hair.. it's the code feel within.

    • @isotopek261
      @isotopek261 2 года назад +21

@@dawndesu6863 try to understand. The genetics determine what length u can get to and growth rate, and hair type etc. However what u describe are just a few of many internal and external factors that hinders the growth and/retention of the hair. Many blacks will never have say 30 inches of hair because the less mix u are the shorter ur growth period is to as low as two years for some. Many who can have more than 20 inches usually have longer growth cycles with and without faster hair growth.

    • @ameeraomar3012

Have you tried minoxidil? It keeps hair fall to a minimum. A hair will continue to grow in length as long as it doesn't fall so less hair fall = longer hair. I'm no expert but i think that's how it works.

    • @victoriamarilyn
      @victoriamarilyn 2 года назад +61

@@dawndesu6863 What you're saying is actually true. All of that also affects how your hair grows. Hair grows from within. So what you eat, medications, drink, drugs and genetics plays a role in hair growth. What you put on your hair after it grows from the scalp doesn't play any role in your hair growth. It may help seal in moisture or help prevent breakage, protect from outside elements, etc. But it plays no part in how your hair will grow from your scalp.

(And since I have sensitive skin…I just use cocoa butter or leftover coconut oil as a moisturizer for my skin. And I swear I’ve seen oils used as hair masks-I personally don’t need it for mine nor would I have the patience, but.)

I am no longer doing that and now I can repair my body and my hair should greatly benefit. I’m still at tailbone length but I would’ve been almost at knee length if everything went according to plan.
All in all it’s no secret that black women can grow long hair on our own! Happy hair journey y’all.

Hair stylist that worked in hair restoration for years here. I posted this under a reply, but I think it bears repeating. Cardi doesn't over manipulate her hair anymore (due to her using wigs as a protective style) which is the real key. I've always deep conditioned the crap out of my hair (I'm a sit under the dryer w/ a plastic cap for an hour to open up that hair shaft kinda girl), but I was over manipulating it to high heaven for years (a no no, but I am also a do as I say, not as I do kinda stylist). I finally took my own professional advice and stopped w/ the over manipulation. I cut off all of my heat damaged hair earlier this year and wear knotless box braids 80% of the time, and have seen significant growth, because I dont touch it.

I have pin straight hair, so take this with a grain of salt lol I use egg masks regularly, and I really like them. I will say that whatever smell you put in there with the egg, STAYS. I used fenugreek once and my hair smelled like maple syrup for at least two weeks. Like my co-workers commented on it it was that strong. Bright side, it really makes my hair soft, cuts down on frizz, and right now my hair (intentionally lol) smells like cinnamon and strawberries.

Just the lenghts, dont dunk your scalp in.
I use less than a teaspoon, and my hair is dry, semi-thick and waist lenght.
It coats the entire head, strand by strand in a thin layer of oil, locks in moisture etc.

Tbh long hair is overrated. My hair grows fast af to the point where it's annoying and I find myself constantly cutting/trimming every few weeks trying to keep it above should length. *Your hair can not grow with split ends* Your hair needs room to breathe and absorb the products you use. It becomes really hard to manage and time consuming once it goes past my shoulders. I don't have a hair stylist. I use affordable moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, leave in, oil, and a creamy styling gel. The key to your hair growing is washing it on a regular schedule, moisturizing, detangling with a wide tooth comb, and trimming it! I have 3c4a hair and have seen many RUclipsrs do wash and gos but my hair *HATES* wash and gos. It always ends up being dry af and weird. Not to mention it takes FOREVER to do that. I just do twist outs and my curls turn out looking bomb af when they fully dry with definition. Honestly just do what works for you!! Our hair is different and what works for several women on RUclips may not work for you. I also think genetics plays a part in to. On my mom's side, the women in the family have a history of growing long thick hair quickly.

But my grandmas hair is too her butt and my mother and father have long thick hair as well so I guess it was a combo of genetics and how my hair was taken care of. I cut it a lot as I got older and dyed it funky colors it grows slower now that im older. But I shaved it in 2012 and now it's about 2 inches above my belly button. My goal is to have it at my butt by 2023 because it grows slower now. there is this misconception that if you are mixed you automatically have good hair that will grow long, wrong! I am the same as cardi, my dad is from the island and my mom is from the Dominican Republic, cardi got the same type of hair texture as mine only difference is that her hair is thicker in texture than Mine, the hair in my picture is just a wig, which I love, I wish my hair was 4 type, I hate my hair, my hair texture is such a difficult hair to take care off, but one thing I can tell you is that when I was a child and my mom was the one taking care of my hair, my hair used to be long, strong and healthy, it was after I started taking care of my hair that my hair was damaged, I need to ask my mom what type of routine she used to do with my hair so that I can start doing it again, any ways the people who claim that hair of black women don't grow long are lying, in ancient times our ancestors used to have really long and strong hair reaching their butts! if they could get their hair to grow long and strong in an era that had no shampoo or conditioner what's stopping us from doing the same? if they could do it, so can we! also a tip, if you don't like the mayo you can replace it with shea butter!

Then I use the mixer on it so it's all liquid
Then I place it in the fridge but every 15-20 mins I take it back out and keep mixing it with the mixer
After an hour or 2 you get a nice fluffy butter and fill it up in containers
It lasts me all year. It melts in contact with your warm skin and hair!
I put it on my hair my skin and it really works
I recommend checking out hair butter videos thats where I first got the idea.
      I have 3c 4a hair
So I just wash My hair
      Condition
      Leave in
      And butter while it's wet
      Braid BAM
My braid outs come out juicy and my hair is shiny bouncy no oily residue it's like ur hair eats It all up.
      It's not breaking or dry
I do co wash with butter and my hair is mid way my back now
Ik products dont grow ur hair but some do add protection and seal hydration that help ur hair just thrive

@@imabit2lil that’s really interesting. Thanks for all the info! My hair is a tad tighter, texture wise. Just about my entire head is 4c, and my current regimen works but sometimes I wonder if I’m being too lazy lol.
But thank you so much for all that info! I’ll have to try some variation of that sometime, since my hair is lower porosity, and I seem to have more of an issue keeping it moisturized during colder months of the year.

@@aaliyahhughes5347 anytime i hope I helped I totally understand my hair is very very dry and the winter its so bad it's like I personally feel like oil wasn't enough of a sealant my hair just suck it up
But butter is like riddled with oils and it's very creamy and for me I think even tho making the butter takes extra effort. It has made my hair routine super easier. It makes my hair like easy to stretch so my braid outs come out so bomb !
And my skin idk I have eczema like im so ashy and dry but since i use the butter after a shower I just put moisturizer on and then seal with butter on my skin and i don't feel greasy at all. Skin is soft without that heavy feeling.
I'm really happy and u can add fragrances it does not have a strong smell so u can add essential oils and smell good ! Let me know if u find any other ideas ! 💕

Please stop putting food in your hair and start using products made for your hair. There is an ebook called Wash Your Damn Hair that covers all of this.

    Thank you! 🌟🌹😘💕🌟
Why not use avocado oil instead of the whole thing? Then leave out the egg and mayo, and add rosemary extract, which has been shown to work as well as Rogaine. I'm testing the rosemary oil out on my mom right now, I started adding a few drops to her conditioner and leaving it on for five minutes. I'll let you know if it works. Her hair is a little thin, so I'm hoping it fills in. I'm using it too, but my hair is already thick, so I'll see if it grows longer faster.

My natural hair is down to my tailbone and I have not been to a hair stylist in 12 years. Stylists have damaged my hair in the past, so I just do it myself.

Ever since I came back natural, I've never went to the salon to get my hair washed, i just go to ONE braider, that's all. My hair is almost viv's length and living in a country where people like me think we can't grow hair, you can imagine the looks i get. We can grow hair, we just need to know what to do to help us grow our hair ❤️❤️

I'm happy you started posting again....we gonna grow out our hair together 😭......I style my own hair, do braids on my own too. I have started a wig journey and I'm scared, cause like how do I moisturize between ??? Sigh....I tried the avacado diy before too....don't like how it feels,it doesn't help with volume cause my hair strands are thin. But @Viv.....please keep us posted, cause I believe my hair can grow toooo😭😭😭

I tend to use Mayo and eggs. Didn’t know about the honey or that the Mayo/egg doesn’t work as well. I’m too cheap for beer (helps get the chlorine out of my hair after swimming).

I started my natural hair journey 11 years ago but I don’t consider it a true natural hair journey because I colored and bleach my hair, it would grow past my waist but I’d cut it because of damage. I recently did a big chop and I’m starting over, no heat no color.

I've been following your hair journey for like 7 years. I absolutely love your personality. I remember you going from relaxed to natural and you were almost at waist length being relaxed. I haven't seen much difference in the growth of your hair for the past couple years.
