Does the ECM-S1 ever clip for you? My experience with these Sony digital mics is that it's impossible to overload them. Even turned up all the way, it seems to be fully recoverable in post. Am I imagining things?
It could be that they are using some kind of internal compressor but I'm not sure, I never tried the "extreme test" as for now, once I will do it, I will keep you informed!! Interesting topic ...
These Sony mics are about ease of use and still ensure good audio. After using the ECM W2BT (with lavalier) and ECM B10 for a year and lately added the ECM W3 (also adding lavalier mics), I can say that they work reliable for solo videoreportage and documentary work. I also have Sony professional wireless mic system to compare with, and some Røde mics. A bit pricy, but robust build quality makes them worth the money. I would say. For sure you can buy better audio quality, but the main concern for solo producers should be HOW mics are used, and how easy and reliable the system is, instead of comparing minor differences with recorded data.
@@magnarfjrtoft5469 Dear Magnar, Thank you for your comment! I was even pretty much surprised once when I reviewed a definitely much more affordable microphone compared to the ECM-W3S: ruclips.net/video/ueIliQffL-4/видео.html. And on top I was not sure if to really keep the ECM-S1. But the more I'm working with it I definitely start to like this MIS-Connection - no cables, just plug and play, besides some minor issues which I am going to discuss in a later vid. But the huge gain in comfort + the reliable performance so far, is definitely something that I am never ever going to want to miss again ...

Most probably wireless sound can never be as high quality as wired. More detailed investigation is needed
