  • The Beneviento playthrough in Resident Evil Village was amazing. It had all the elements to make a great Survival Horror game. It had a creepy talking doll, Angie, we had Donna Beneviento wearing a Mourning Dress, and one of the most disturbing monsters you'll ever see which was the Baby Monster.
Which in this video we'll be covering the story of Donna Beneviento and her Doll Angie as we help guide Ethan Winters within the Beneviento Household and explore the horror filled house of Beneviento. We also cover the many symbolisms, background, and manifestations that occurs during this portion of RE Village.
This includes the Disturbingly dark and disturbing concept development of Donna and her family. We also explain how Ethan's family which included Mia Winters and Rose Winters, made such an impact during our playthrough in House Beneviento. We also explain Donna's past, her biology, how Mother Miranda had an influence on her, and explaining all the supernatural occurrences inside house Beneviento. Also we even cover some details in regards to the Donna Beneviento & Angie Boss fight.

It feels like Donna never progressed mentally past the death of her sister and parents when she was a child. Angie seems to be a mixture of her true self (childish, mischievous, lonely and wanting attention) and what she wishes she was (confident, loud, crass, and fearless). She lures in "playmates" and never lets them leave and asks Ethan to forget about Rose and be HER father, instead. Looking at that and the fact that she was seemingly the only one to willingly accept Miranda's "adoption" it seems like she just wants a loving family again but her mental illness and the cadou have destroyed that dream. Killing her felt a lot like killing Eveline in RE7, like you've just been forced kill a very hurt and sick child that deserved better but that the cruelties of life and humanity had doomed.

I agree. Even though Angie did say the entire time that she wanted to kill Ethan, Donna never really made many threats against him and unlike the other areas; the house wasn’t booby-trapped or set up to kill Ethan besides the dolls. Which I think now may have been the Cadou fighting Donna’s self-destructive plans and trying to keep them both alive.
In my mind Donna just seemed like a lonely woman who only wanted a family, even her few voice lines sound frightened and desperate as though she’s trying to speak to Ethan through the hallucinations.

@@lavenderotaku2481 I have a theory that Angie and Eveline are connected in a way I don't think Donna feels the things that Angie feels and says I think Angie has her own personality

"Everything would be better if Rose wasnt born" is similar to "If you had never been born it would've been perfect!"
"You do this to Rose too?!" Similar to "You won't get the crystal by slicing open your friends!"
Even crazier is that Angie and Eveline share the same voice actress
Another similarity is that Angie watches you the whole time during village in the beneviento section you can see her in the corner by one of the doors at one point. In the dlc during the part where you find the dolls to complete the dioramas you get this doll with black hair and a blue dress. She only is in the campfire diorama and she just watches. While she "plays hide-and-seek" with him. Donna, because of her childlike nature, couldn't really hurt Ethan. A very cruel ending. You can see the blood on the walls as she runs away and it's Donna's own blood.

But i think the concept part where you are chased by the lycans to the beneviento house would have kept the game flow better. the fact that there isn't a single fight in the entire walking from the Duke to the Beneviento house, Garden included. I feel so bad for Donna. Out of all the lords she seemed to be the least agressive, and the most manipulated. She was just a scared girl, transformed. She, being the least mutated, but still mutilated. The cadou forming on her scar, a bad memory she'd have to deal with everytime she looked at herself in the mirror. Donna, was very caring, only trying to trap ethan in fear of being hurt due to Mother Miranda's manipulation. She even left the note, "take care of our little rose.." for Ethan. Almost as if she knew he was going to kill her. She had left him hints, and exposed secrets his wife wouldn't reveal. Angie, being almost a protector for Donna obviously had to be everything she wasn't. Loud, crude, and energetic. I really wish we got more out of Donna, as she didn't deserve her death. Yes, she toyed with Ethan, causing him to haullucenate but did she have any other choice? He was coming to kill her, and she was trying to protect herself. She also was very sheltered as a kid and most likely didn't develop properly. I hope we get another look at her, like we're getting with Lady Dimitrescu.

Donna’s section was by far my favorite for a multitude of reasons.
For one, it feels like there is so much more going on than what you are seeing, everything in the house seems to have a story of its own, which mirrors a real lived in house, which is one of the reasons why I think Donna’s house feels so cozy, because it just looks like someone’s house with knickknacks and other small details that give it, dare I say, it’s own personality. The house looks warm and welcoming, I feel like it would smell like a wood cabin and linseed oil, with maybe a hint of a floral smell. And I’m not saying this to be weird, I’m saying it to emphasize that, to me, the house doesn’t feel like it’s for the player, it feels like it’s for Donna. It’s not meant to be impressive or intimidating or even gross, it’s just a home (not counting the basement). The other locations never gave me that intense feeling of personality that this house did.
The next one is more specific to me, but it combined two things that freak me out more than most things. Dolls, and messed up babies, and I was prepared for the dolls, but not the BABY. I had never had such an intense reaction to a video game ever.
The third one is the one I see the most complaints about, and that’s fine, everyone has their own opinion, but I’m going to explain why I like this so much. The lack of a boss fight. I know a boss fight with Donna and/or Angie would have been cool, but the direction the game went had a better impact in my opinion. As the player, you are expecting a boss fight, you are already set up to think that it’s going to be a boss fight due to the fight with Alcina, and the previous resident evil games. So the hide and seek portion is already unexpected, but the reveal that it was Donna and not Angie that you hunted down is what makes me love it more. After you stab “Angie” the first time you can spot fresh bloodstains on the wall, which can be used to find “Angie” in her next hiding spot. The implication that you are hunting down someone who is no less human than your child (or, uh, Ethan’s child) is kind of haunting when you think about it. It’s not like with Alcina or Salvator or Karl where they are in your face trying to kill you, you are actively hunting someone down, and you’re not even fully aware that you are doing it too. And yeah, Donna was probably trying to kill Ethan, but it was less malicious and more desperate…at least that’s how I saw it.
One of the things that intrigued me about this area is the note left on the back of the photo you slid into the mail slot. If I remember correctly after you kill Donna you get the photo back, but it’s in better condition and it has writing on the back that wasn’t there before. I don’t remember specifics, but I’d recommend looking it up.

One of my favorites about Donna is that Claudia was a sibling or cousin. And after her parents' passing, Donna used Claudia's bones to repair Angie as she wore down.

Benevento and Moreau could have definitely had more screen time but from what we got I really liked it.
My thoughts on all the characters I guess:
Without commenting on Dimitrescu's umm "assets", I really liked her grace (being so tall and wealthy) fitting into the vampire aesthetic perfectly. I really liked Heisenberg because let's face it he is a true chad. Moreau was surprisingly great. I expected him to just be a "oh yeah I am gross" monster without any further story but then he surprised me with his insecurities and desperation to be loved by Miranda. Donna Benevento and her doll Angie are the creepiest duo in RE Village, both of them reminded me a lot of Lisa Trevor and how much they are alike, she hid her own face behind the many faces of other people and hid away from a lot of people under the Spencer Mansion, she also had a massive doll shrine as she must have loved dolls, Donna and Angie played a lot of dark mental tricks on Ethan's mind to hopefully kill him, the The Mia mannequin was used to show that even though they have a family now, she still has a lot of secrets she still hasn't told Ethan yet, like how she use to work for the connection's organization, also knowing that Ethan is a molded being and not telling him, the big mutant baby was Ethan though his daughter Rosemary turned into, a real horrible monster he had to run for his to get away from, finally had to face the doll Angie and her many doll comrades to get out of Donna's house, during his fight he did see Donna Benevento and she said "don't leave, I can't let you leave", finally he did manage to kill Angie but what he saw was that he killed Donna, he didn't understand what was happening until he found out what she could do, Donna can control Angie and her doll comrades due to her mutation across her face, she also can control plants by the secretion of pheromones from her body, she can also induce hallucinations on people who did inhale the pollen form the infected plants around her house, all the things Ethan did have to face in Donna's house were all a lot of hallucinations, to be honest Donna Benevento did a good job in fooling me, I did believe all those hallucinations we're real until I learned what she could really do, the story of Donna Benevento and her doll Angie is tragic and you did cover her very well HeY DeVuH, I do look forward to you choose cover next buddy ✌️

Psychologically scary between the darkness, the missing weapons, the lack of any real sound, and then that damned baby. I haven’t felt sheer terror in a game like this in a long time. There was also a rumor saying that Donna wrote the note that said "Save our little Rose," after recovering the photo. Like Alcina Dimitrescu, I tend to wonder what would have happened if Donna Beneviento and Ethan Winters became allies, or even friends. Yes, I know, Ethan Winters had to destroy the Lords, and they were already too far gone in the prime timeline, but I think Ethan would have given Donna Beneviento a second chance at healing.

I could see where the award came from when all the dolls become animated and you hear the song. I thought to myself, this would make a perfect Halloween experience. The Castle was good, but too much repetition. This offered something new and different, something cool fun and utterly terrifying. I am no stranger to disturbing things, I like films that test me. As a HUGE fanatic of dolls and anything related to them in the horror genre (I actually own an Annabelle doll), this was my favorite part of the whole game, and it’s a tragedy that it felt so short in comparison.
Everything about it read horror in its purest form; from the atmosphere, the setting, that walking abortion baby, and yes, the damn dolls! The claustrophobia didn’t phase me so much, but I damn well appreciate making everything so narrow when it came to encountering the fetus, because holy hell did that make it all the more terrifying.

Even more symbolic, the entrails left after Mia's fake body is removed is most likely meant to be an umbilical cord
, which is the physical connection between mother and child during the pregnancy. I think this even further connects the baby monster with being a projection of what Ethan might see Rose as, perhaps even drawing as far as to 'Mia's secrets were fueled into the child'.
I loved how this part of the game was such a big change of pace after the action and rush of Demitrescu and I feel like a lot of the horror of this part kinda... Came on a delay? Sure, it was creepy as all heck, but I felt getting the lore for Lady D explained how her daughters were made and such, interesting, but not super scary, but the lore for Donna added to the heaviness of her story, made it even more disturbing and even had you feel sorry for her. Part of me will always be conflicted about her being killed, on one hand hoping it would bring her peace, on the other hand feeling she deserved to just be left alone and not to be bothered.
